We had a wedding rehearsal dinner on a Friday and I connected and ordered on Tuesday of the same week. Professionals all the way and the food was outstanding! Thank you Evan and Gabby!

Actually I didn't meet the LadyMarry coordinator and florist, until the rehearsal day, because I was planning my wedding remotely in New York. They are very responsive and patient to my endless questions, and did a great job about organizing the rehearsal and communicating with the other vendors. I always saw Melissa and Donna running around. Hiring you was the best decision I made for my wedding. Thank you!

Thus far we have only completed the tasting, but Chef Judi & Chef Cyprus nailed it. They are wonderful listeners and have a great palate. My fiancee and I are complete foodies, therefore the food at our wedding is truly what the reception is about. We are confident that Taste-Full Events will provide our guests with the culinary experience we want them to have.

A Starr Event created the flower arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres for my daughters’ spring wedding. Anita responded quickly to my inquiry, worked with us to select the various elements we wanted, and provided a reasonable quote that fit our budget. Anita spent a lot of time reviewing our selections, discussing flower choices that fit our color scheme, and she proved very knowledgeable about what would be available (and affordable) for my daughter’s special day! We especially appreciated Anita’s commitment to using locally sourced flowers, her assistance delivering and setting up the arrangements, and special touches she included in the ceremony space on the day of the wedding. The flowers arrangements were beautiful, the bouquets were just what my daughter had in mind and we received many complements from the guests! Working with Anita from A Starr Event, was an extremely pleasant experience.

My wife and I had thought we'd do our own wedding planning. We'd found our venue and vendors on our own; how hard could the finishing touches be? Especially for the small, simple event we envisioned? In hindsight, we'd accomplished only the easiest parts of the process, and without Diana and Tammy's help I don't know how we would have had the wonderful, stress-free event that we did. While we hired them as day-of-coordinators, they provided much more than day-of services, taking over vendor interactions months in advance of the actual event, actively helping to plan table layouts and other details, and in weekly video chats they provided organization and discipline that kept my wife and I on-task. There's so much work behind even a "simple" wedding that we hadn't even thought about, but Diana and Tammy guided us through it all. They were lifesavers; our wedding day was everything we'd hoped that it would be, and Diana and Tammy were absolutely critical to making it happen.

First off, I should mention that I live in Chicago, and I'm having my wedding in Chicago; this means that Sepideh is supporting my wedding planning process from afar and I'm happy to share that the distance hasn't had any impact on the quality of her support--she's so responsive that it feels like in the same city as me! You'll find that she's incredibly intuitive, versatile, and has a knack for seeing how all the little details will come together on your big day! It's so nice to be working with someone who offers a wide range of services throughout the engagement and wedding process. I've been able to go to her for end-to-end wedding planning, pre-wedding event support, and consultations. In moments where I've needed guidance on how to do my wedding party "proposals" ("will you be my...?"), engagement photo shoots, vendor suggestions, you name it--she's been a wealth of knowledge and a huge time saver! I highly highly recommend using Sepideh for any wedding related support!

Thank you for all of your help and creativity in planning the best wedding ever. I couldn't have been more happy with what you helped me achieve. Everything from beginning to end was perfect and you allowed me to have the most stress free day. It couldn't have been more smooth and successful! All of the design and decor was beautiful, and all of the food and menu planning you helped me create was a hit! My guests couldn't have been more satisfied especially with the signature drinks! Thank you for being super attentive, detail oriented and hands on! You went above and beyond and had it all together!

Did an excellent job organizing the jungle safari theme for our son's first birthday party. Had animal cutouts, balloons, very good center pieces and nice creative touches by using various props to make it look like jungle safari. Service delivered on time. The decoration was done in time.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

  • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
  • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
  • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
  • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.
