Very positive experience. We hired Truck Easy to unload a moving storage pod. Luiz & partner were very professions, reliable & careful moving our belongings. They were also very reasonably priced. We have another pod to be unloaded & will definitely hire Luiz again.

Gus and Two Leos were fantastic! Friendly, polite, VERY helpful, paid attention to every detail, and didn’t waste a minute. We were really impressed and are going to ask for them again in a couple weeks when the remainder of our household (a big one) has to be packed and moved to storage. Roy’s scheduling was perfect too. I don’t ever remember having better movers - and we’ve done this at least a dozen times. Great company!!

These guys were awesome! They showed up early after I made a last minute request that morning. They worked nonstop and got my storage container empty in 2 hours. They even stayed to help me assemble my bed. I highly recommend them for your moving needs!

These guys were beyond awesome! We hired them to move items from an on-site storage pod to our second-floor apartment. Our storage company ended up delivering the pod to our apartment complex over 2 hours late and we were terrified that the last minute change would mean that our movers wouldn't be able to make it. Michael at Globe told us not to worry and made time to do the move at no extra charge. He and the other mover were punctual, courteous, and very professional. They took great care of our stuff! We already plan on hiring these guys for the next time we move.

The team of three got straight to work moving boxes and breaking down the beds while loaning me as many wardrobe boxes as needed. Cube wrapped and covered with moving blankets loose items before moving into the van. At then destination of the local move, the team moved the boxes & furniture the right room/floor. I would use Cube Moving and Storage again and would recommend.

Both men were very friendly and professional! Had a great time chatting with them. Great price for the job. They did an excellent job being careful with my furniture and boxes and organizing everything in the storage container. I couldn't ask for two better helpers! Will definitely use them again when I find a new place. Will also recommend them to my friends!

Overall, everything went well with moving our household goods from both a second-floor apartment and storage facility to a third-floor apartment and garage. Three-person team was on-time, professional and worked in an expedient and safe manner. Rates were competitive with other similar type moving businesses. I would consider this business for a future move.

Used them twice in a week. Once to move our storage, and once to move our condo. They were great. If I ever need to move again, or recommend anyone, these guys were great. Both times!! All our furniture and TVs were wrapped in blankets, without having to ask. Don’t waste your money on the people charging more, these guys do the same job, but better.

initially I had this company give me a quote for a pool table moving service, there quote was very competitive but I decided to go with a company that had a better price. which I regret very very much....the company I hired broke 1 of my slates ,,, so I just had them replace it and soon after called California Billiards to come out and provide the service... wow very professional and they know everything about everything concerning pool tables. I will use them again

These movers are the best of the best our there! Everything from start to finish went as sooth as could be, which was a huge relief to me as I was wrapping up my job and had a ton going on at the end of February when I used Easy Movers to help. Carlos and his crew of 2 movers (in addition to him) were super efficient and clearly knew what they were doing. I loved how they wrapped the chairs, dressers, nightstands, etc. carefully in plastic so they wouldn't deteriorate in the storage unit I moved into. The boxes and furniture I had ready to go went in the truck and right to the storage unit - no time wasted. When we arrived to the storage facility and I couldn't figure out the key lock in my personal unit, they even helped with that, which was extra nice. It's sometimes difficult to weed through moving companies online trying to find ones that aren't overpriced, and I feel like I hit the jackpot with Easy Movers! This is actually the second time I've used them (previous time was August 2013) and will continue to use them again when the need arises without hesitation. They're easy to work with, professional and very experienced. I cannot recommend them enough - they truly made my moving experience hassle-free!

I went through many searches for a moving Company but got the fastest and most consistent response from Credo Moving. They didn't ask for any up front deposit, etc. and showed up timely (texted me there progress to show up at my house). Were very professional and cooperative when I moved into my new place and asked to rearrange furnishings to best fit my place.

Super friendly guys who have been in the moving business for a long time. I didn't really have to tell them much, they pretty much read my mind and knew what needed to be done to handle the job. Fast workers who never skip a beat and are always on their feet.

I absolutely recommend this moving company. For starters, Nolan was very responsive. He answered all my questions in a timely manner. Nolan and his partner moved with a sense of urgency while still making sure everything was handled with care. This was the best move. I didn’t have to worry about anything. They were also very kind and professional. I will definitely hire again and I have already recommended this company to all of my coworkers and friends.

Artur, Pocket, and Gregory (in training) helped me with my move. Very friendly and professional. They arrived on time and got to work right away while Artur went over the paperwork with me. I've never used movers before (usually do it myself with friends) so wasn't sure what to expect. They were very professional and right away felt secure in that they knew what they were doing. They carefully wrapped all my furniture and loaded all my belongings. Most of my stuff is IKEA and they usually don't survive traveling and moving very well but everything made it in one piece without any damage. They did note to me that since it was IKEA that they current guarantee and I appreciated them letting me know that upfront. But it all went well which was a relief. Anything that I needed to know I was well informed of. Even before the move I was emailed a confirmation along with documentation so I knew what to expect on the day of the move. Artur was very thorough in explaining everything as well as answering any questions that I had. They quoted a very fair price as well as a fair "not to exceed" quote on the day of which we were well within. It was a 1 BR 350 sqft move into a 2 BR 900 sqft and took about 3 hours minus the drive time. It took a bit longer than expected because they took extra care with my furniture which I completely understood and appreciated. They placed everything where I wanted it and did a good job of cleaning up (packing materials) afterwards. If I ever need to move again I will definitely keep them in mind and would recommend. Thanks Grizzlies!!!

Out of all the movers that I contacted for our long distance move, Mr. Houston was the best! He couldn't have been more pleasant and easy to work with. When you are dealing with something as stressful as a move it's nice to have someone who is so even keel and communicative about the whole process. He stayed in touch with me the entire move and was very accommodating to all my requests and questions. He gave me a flat rate quote that included everything so there were no hidden fees. His company moved our 4 bedroom house and vehicle from Oceanside, California to Phoenix, Arizona. They showed up on time with materials and completed the job in a little over 24 hours (loading truck, driving to Arizona, unloading into storage). I would highly reccomend their services. It was a pleasure to work with them!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
