About

I'm located at Elk Grove, CA. I teach 1-hour lessons once a week only. I teach only in Elk Grove at my home. Because I'm an active performer, I am only available from Tuesdays to Thursdays. Right now, I have several open slots between 12 P.M. to 7 P.M. I am looking for students who are ready to work hard and dedicate themselves 100% to my teaching program. Even if you have never sung before or think you have no talent for singing, EVERYONE should learn to sing, regardless! Yes, there are some people on this earth were born to sing and that gift should be guided continuously and carefully, but on the other spectrum, EVERYONE should learn to sing no matter what. Its like... everyone should get a good nights sleep, get regular exercise, eat healthy and.... sing regularly! These are all a part of having a full and healthy life. Learning to sing is not only about singing scales... yes, you read that correctly. Give me the opportunity to teach you my secrets and my technique and you'll see what I mean. It's all about awareness and confidence. I am a teacher, not just a coach. Did you know there is a difference between a coach and a teacher? A coach only prepares you for a song performance or audition preparation in genre style and would know how to play the piano to give accompaniment. A Teacher does not have to know how to play piano because they concentrate on anatomy and technique. (I prepare instrumental accompaniment on CD, so no problem there) Although both are experienced on stage credibility, a teacher is college trained and licensed. A coach is not. Although I give coaching at a minimum of three lessons, I offer intense vocal training as well. My voice teaching requires the student to dedicate themselves to a 12 month long (or longer) program. I am very good at breaking down the voice and identifying the student's strengths and weaknesses using various exercises. I prefer to work with the students' voice first before moving on to performance skills (presentation of song). I am very patient, fun, enthusiastic, and with high energy. I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support the basic skills, such as sight reading (pitch and tone) and vocal control (posture/breathing). I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching kids and adults privately. My subjects include voice (music theory, history and composition), drama (theater, improvement and others), music production (and technology) and guitar teaching. The location is at my home/studio. Travel radius is not applicable. As to education, I have a BFA in Music/Theater from UCI. Please call or email for artes. My current available hours are from Tuesdays to Thursdays, 12 noon to 8 P.M. About Raquela: Raquela is your all-round singer-songwriter, vocalist and performer. Raquela teaches from her humble small home in Elk Grove, CA. She studied opera (at Biola University) for 3 years then receive her BFA in music and theater from California State University of Irvine (Southern California). She later moved on to New York City where she played leading roles on Broadway for 18 years. Before that, she performed in Japan, Brazil and all over parts of the Caribbean and South America. She also sung and performed at Universal Studios Florida and Disney World. Her extended biography consists of being a five-time billboard dance music charter, a voting member of the Grammy's, a former Miss Orange County (Miss California/America organization) and a 12 times "best actress" off Broadway/regional/stock (NYC) including being a recognized Obie award nominated artist for writing the "best electronica musical." About

I've been taking classical guitar lessons with Mark for nearly a year now. I met with a few different teachers around the Bay Area and decided to go with Mark, and I have been very happy with that decision. He's friendly and cheerful, takes a structured, well thought out approach to teaching, and of course plays beautifully himself, which always helps inspire me to improve my playing. I think he has a great breadth and depth of teaching experience and it shows, and it's that experience, along with his charisma, that separate him from other teachers. I've improved tremendously since I started working with him -- leaps and bounds above what I'd accomplished in four years of learning on my own -- both as a guitarist and as a musician in general.

About

The Zion Academy of Music is a music education and performance school for grades K-12. We've been teaching young musicians since 1997. We offer both group and private lessons in strings, brass, woodwinds, guitar, percussion, electric bass, and musicianship and theory. We also offer private lessons in piano, voice, and drums. In addition, we offer choir and jazz ensemble programs. Our director, Dumisani Washington, is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and has been teaching music for over 26 years. He has overseen the development of many young musicians, some of whom have gone on to study music at the university level. Zion Academy currently has alumni enrolled in music programs at universities, such as Abilene Christian University, Azusa Pacific, and the University of the Pacific. Each of the instructors at Zion Academy has been selected, because they share Dumisani's desire to develop a genuine love of music in the students. All of our instructors have active music careers, and many of our instructors have graduated from or are currently attending the University of the Pacific. Zion Academy is excited about being a vibrant part of Stockton's future. We look forward to training excellent young musicians and making beautiful music for years to come.

About

I take great pride in playing music. I have played music almost my whole life. My teaching methods are to be sure my student has knowledge of everything that is essential to guitar playing, but I also like to make it fun. I enjoy connecting with my students at a level that they are comfortable with and give them a great experience. I can teach you music theory, music notation ( also tablature) and ear training, scales and chords. If your interested in a specific genre of music, I can teach anything from jazz, blues, funk, Spanish guitar, metal, country, percussive guitar and a fee others. I can also teach specific songs that would like to learn. I do in home sessions, which means I go to you or I could teach out of the music store. I'm currently employed.
