Cindy S. says, "We can honestly say we are delighted to provide this review for Eddy Cortez of Prospects Demolition Inc. and his work in a complete pool demolition. Working with Eddy was a pleasure and I have only said that of one other contractor in my many large and small projects. We live in Altadena and while our house is standing it had damage and the garage, back yard and pool all were destroyed. We decided to take out the pool as we did not get enough money from insurance to redo it and do not use it any longer. We had a contractor lined up who had a similar bid as Eddy’s but when we were ready to do the work, he went silent. We were under a timing issue now as we needed to get the pool removed before we did the thorough cleaning of the house. We hustled and found Eddy and another contractor on Thumbtack. We checked both out thoroughly and went with Eddy as we liked him and his record was spotless including no litigation. His bid was the same as the first contractor and after speaking and meeting him we liked his manner and attitude. Eddy was on time to every meeting he started the job when he said he would and finished on time. He is an honest individual as demonstrated by my accidentally overpaying him and him pointing it out to me immediately. Our pool was very large; deep and the yard was multiple levels. We had him take away much of the surrounding decking and level the yard all of which was done to our complete satisfaction. We had a hiccup in that while excavating we discovered a jacuzzi that had been abandoned. It had been walled up and cemented over but not taken out properly or by permit. This required another couple of days work to remove and have it reinspected. Eddy charged us a fair price for the additional work, and we are now properly cleaned. Throughout our collaboration, Eddy consistently demonstrated exceptional integrity and really wanted to do the project right. Communication was clear and timely, making the entire process seamless and efficient. Beyond reliability, Eddy showed great adaptability, and a “can do” attitude that was refreshing. I highly recommend Prospects Demolition Inc and Eddy, for any demolition opportunities. If you would like further details or to discuss our experience working with Eddy, please ask him as I told him we would be happy to assist."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

The cost of landscaping can vary widely based on the type of plants you wish to have, the amount of grading required, the condition of the land before work begins, and other factors. Adding in designer or high-end landscaping, as well as hardscaping such as sidewalks, walls, or patios will add to the cost. To find out how much your landscaping will cost, contact landscapers near you.

A landscaper is worth it if you don't want to invest a significant amount of time and effort into planting, trimming, raking, weeding and performing other operations on your garden or yard. Hiring a landscaper to perform regular maintenance in your yards and complete bigger projects is valuable if you’re looking to sell your house. A professional landscaper can make your house more appealing to potential buyers.

Some landscapers may perform maintenance duties — remove leaves, mow lawns, trim trees and shrubs, etc. —  but they can also help you bring bigger projects to life. This may include adding a misting system, an outdoor fireplace, water features, artificial turf, a patio and much more.

Start contacting landscapers near you to get free estimates and start planning your project today.

The price of landscaping varies widely due to the range of choices that can be made, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $320 and $20,000 for your landscaping work. The national average cost for a landscaping project is $2,600.

Factors like the choice of plants, the amount and type of hardscaping, the square footage of your landscaped area, and the region you live in will have a significant effect on your landscaping cost.

The average cost of fence repairs is around $250, with most homeowners paying anywhere between $200 and $300. Fence repairs have a wide range of potential costs, however, ranging from $50 to as much as $1,443. The cost of your fence repair project depends on multiple factors, including where you live, what type of repair you need, the terrain and the fence materials used.

You can shop for landscaping rocks from a variety of different sources. The first option is large chain retail stores specializing in home improvement and gardening. Often, landscaping rocks like slate and other slabs arrive on pallets and are sold in bulk, giving you a great deal. Your local landscaping store also carries rocks, and you may even have a stone or quarry seller nearby who can sell you the rocks you need. When in doubt, contact landscaping companies near you to see if they have rocks you can purchase.

Landscaping is the intentional placement and maintenance of living plants on an area of land or in your yard. This can include trees, lawn, flowers, bushes and other plant life and often incorporates mulch and other organic matter. The primary purpose of landscaping is to provide beauty to the house or building it surrounds.

Many landscaping companies also offer design, architecture and construction services. For example, they can help you design a yard that incorporates a patio, deck, pool, fire pit, lighting, walkways, retaining walls and more.

A gate can sag for a number of reasons. One common reason is that the screws holding the hinges in the wood or other post material have come loose, causing gravity to pull the fence down. Another common problem is the gate post’s lack of stability. Posts can become loose and start to lean, or if they are wooden, they can even rot at the point where they meet the ground.

Fence repair is better for common problems that only affect small areas, such as a broken picket or a shifting fence post. However, there is a rule of thumb to follow: If the repair project requires replacing 20% or more of your fence, it’s probably time to replace the whole fence. The exception to this rule is if the fence is fairly new and just part of it is damaged.

Landscaping your property can boost the value of your home between 5% and 15%, according to Better Homes & Gardens. They specify that this is the amount of value added when you upgrade the condition of your landscaping from poor to good, though these terms are subjective.

The most common fence repairs are aimed at fixing:

  • Missing boards or slats. This is a common problem with wood fences.
  • Fence material corrosion. This occurs on metal fences like chain link and iron.
  • A sagging gate. This could result from a tilting fence post or loose hinges.
  • Post movement. Typically, this is caused by frost, corrosion or water.
  • Stains. Moisture and other elements can stain fencing, which may require a professional to remove it.
  • Warping. Warped, curled, cupped or bent boards are unsightly and less effective and need to be replaced.

If you notice any of the above issues with your fence, reach out to fence repair professionals near you to start getting cost estimates and schedule an appointment.
