9 years ago I stopped taking piano lessons. Recently I decided to start up again. It was a bit intimadating. I was lucky enough to find Dave. He is very professional and yet casual. He communicates theory in a clear, understanable way. He is encouraging and patient. I know that, in time, I'll play with confidence that I never had before. Check him out on UTube at 88davefoster. He truly deserves a 5 star rating!
I know Natalia for over 10 years now. I met her as a piano teacher for my older son, then she thought the middle one too. She is detailed oriented, always predictable and on time, hard working, and excellent quality of teaching. I recommend her intensely. Could not get a better piano teacher than Natalia Pressman.
"I had guitar lessons with the Guitar Institute of Learning for a little over 3 years, and those years were the first 3 years I had in my experience of ever playing the guitar. I learned so much from my teacher. He taught me Jazz Standards, folk songs, and even things that were accommodated to my own interests as well! More importantly, I gained a life changing perspective from the songs, chords, melodies and harmonies that my teacher taught me. The concepts never get old. Guitar Institute of Learning does not just teach you how to play guitar, but how to practice it and how to become a great musician. It can be one thing to play an instrument, but to know how to play with other musicians requires a development of playing with others and applying your knowledge. Which is what guitar institute of learning can help you do. Everything I learned from GIOL literally changed my view and appreciation for music once I became more aware of the music world. I learned things that, once I looked back and realized what I was learning, I was so surprised and grateful that I was shown such great songs. I will always have a gratitude for the class and vast repertoire that they had opened me up to. As a musician, now playing guitar for 8 years, I would not be where I am today without those lessons. Knowing how important practicing everyday is, and finding how you define music will help you find an appreciation and motivation from and beyond these lessons." -Lawrence S. Abbott
So far I have only taken one lesson but it went really well. Rumiana is very nice, patient, and knowledgeable.
My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Ms Hicks for 5 years, and shows no signs of wanting to quit - which to me, is a hallmark of a positive, flexible, joyful piano teacher who listens to students, loves music, and passes that on to her students.
I started taking guitar lessons from D.D. a couple of months ago and have learned so much from him in the short period of time. He's a great teacher, with a lot of patience. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who's interested in taking up the guitar.

My music lessons will help utilize your inner musician. But behind every good musician is good technique, without it longevity is difficult. Incorrect singing will cause vocal nodules, incorrect piano playing will give you wrist pains, and bad songwriting might cause others ear pains. Holding a music degree from San Jose State University and a decade of professional experience performing, I will use my experiences and knowledge to help awaken you're inner performer.
I have always followed both paths in Classical guitar and Electric guitar. My passion for music has lead me to explore most styles with the same excitement. I was also very lucky to have the best teachers when I started to learn guitar, as well into classical or in electric guitar. To meet some of the best guitar players can change your mind and change the way you teach. Since, I am dedicated to bring to my students what I had the chance to learn and I do it with passion.
This is the simplest way that I can compare teaching piano/music/voice: It's like teaching a student a 2nd language. As a beginner, looking at music and trying to read it is, essentially, a foreign language. My job is to figure out the level of comprehension my new students are at and grow the understanding of music from there. I start with the basic principle of music and I curtail lessons to fit each student. As we know, each student learns differently. As I come to know each student, I learn how to help interpret the language of music to each individual.

My teaching methods are alot different from many teachers. Instead of just teaching the different concepts and theory of guitar I also like to give my students a fun experience. I want my students to be excited to learn and practice to keep them motivated to stick with it. In all reality anyone can play guitar, all it takes is dedication and a will to learn.
While beginning with a standard curriculum for the student's level and age, I augment with personalized exercises, assignments and fun activities. I have written duet parts for a couple taking lessons together, and re-written fingering for a student with only 4 fingers on each hand.
