We decided to chose Brian for my teenage daughter's beginning guitar lessons due to his willingness to teach her the type of songs that she wanted. Right away he connected with her and her music. He taught her the theory behind playing guitar as well as teaching her the tricks and skills of how to play the guitar. His practices were enjoyable and not just rote. She learned very quickly and therefore stayed excited about learning. Brian was always very complementary and encouraging. Brian also helped us buy useful equipment like a tuner, etc. She always felt safe and comfortable. We would highly recommend Brian as a guitar teacher.

Going to Peaceland Music has been a very outstanding experience. My teacher, John, is very knowledgable with guitar, piano, and overall music theory. John is a very funny guy and I'm glad I've been taking guitar lessons with him for the past year and a half. He's made learning guitar very fun and interesting. Aside from learning scales and theory, you also can choose a song and John can work on it with you and help you make your performance of it better. But make sure to practice the theory and scales he gives you! You will fall behind very quick, because the lessons build off of what you previously learned. John is very good at working with people at a variety of different levels. It doesn't matter if you're beginning, intermediate, or advanced, he'll work with you at your level and help build on what you know.

I've been wanting to take guitar lessons for over a year after winning this great guild guitar and I haven't found anyone that I could really connect with. Took a few classes but from day one I didn't feel a connection and to me thats the most important thing. Day one with Ricky was great. We discussed the different kinds of music that I wanted to play and he even asked to listen to some of my favorite songs to get an idea of my style and we started immediately. It's only been about two months and I can already play a good handful of songs and my confidence has gone up tremendously. I think anyone who's interested in playing guitar should check Ricky out. He also has deals on his rates if you pay in advance. Dalmasy

Beginner electric bass guitar lessons, 1 hour per week, at Rancho Canyon Music. I have been taking lessons with Lou for two months. Lou is an experienced, knowledgeable, and patient instructor. Additionally, he is personable and has a good sense of humor which makes the lessons fun. Lou finds ways to easily relate a theory or technique to you in everyday terms. He is a formally trained musician who performs regularly for audiences. His training and regular performing, coupled with his teaching techniques makes him my first choice for music instruction. Lou arrives on time and is ready begin working with you, evidence he values your time as well. Lou goes above and beyond for his students by providing in class resources, useful online content, and instructional online videos. All of which I have found helpful and not readily found in other music instructors. Lou can quickly analyze what is happening and provide you with helpful input to help you understand and improve. It is clear to me Lou understands the teaching process. He explains things in a logical order, using building blocks of learning. I would highly recommend Lou to all of my family and friends. An hour lesson is filled with easily digestible information and practical application. My understanding and enjoyment of playing my bass guitar has been energized working with Lou.

Chris is an amazing teacher. He really doesn’t like to mess around. Learning how to play the guitar is not an easy task at all, but after just a few lessons with Chris I can guarantee that you’ll feel more confident in your ability.

I have had many guitar instructors over the last few years and Mike is the main one I go back to whenever possible. Every experience is a good one and his attitude and energy are always a positive! We usually do not plan and if we do we usually just let things develop. I always look forward to seeing Mike.

I took guitar lessons from Craig once a week for six months. I liked the way the way he set up his Skype camera so I could watch his fingers as he was showing me different chords and scales. I found Craig to be very knowledgeable about all kinds of music and had great answers to my various questions. His personality is very outgoing and entertaining and that made the lessons fun. I would highly recommend Craig to anyone.

I took guitar lessons with Stephan for about 6 months before I moved away from Los Angeles. I was a beginner who had tried to teach myself the acoustic guitar for a few years prior, but I never progressed very far until I started taking lessons with Stephan. I enjoyed the style of his lessons, in that I could choose what songs I wanted to learn and therefore actually want to practice them on my own, while at the same time learning theory that Stephan would weave into lessons. Stephan was great at coming up with the best approach for me to learn any song of my choice for my skill level, while also allowing me to learn new techniques. I was impressed that he was able to figure out how to play songs from a wide range of genres that I chose, and he was really able to pack a lot of information into a 30 minute lesson. I accomplished everything that I wanted from our lessons these past months (e.g. learning different strum patterns, building up a repertoire of songs to play for friends). Stephan is very energetic, positive, patient, and kind, plus it was always very enjoyable to listen to him play. I highly recommend Stephan for guitar lessons!

Simrin is a lovely and very good teacher, who made guitar lessons fun for my daughter, she progressed more in a few months being taught by Simrin than the previous tutor of two years. He has patience in teaching his students and his passion for guitar is obvious. I came across Simrin by strong recommendation and I agree entirely.

Max is a great guitar teacher. Right from the get-go he was flexible, friendly and seemed to get what I needed as a musician. I've had lessons in the past where it was either boring (music theory) or too scatterbrained for me to connect all the dots. Max has a way of zoning in on what you need specifically at the moment and tailoring the lesson toward that. I don't think you can find a better deal in Los Angeles.

Our daughter, Emily, took guitar lessons from Kipp Kahlia for over a year and a half. We find it a bit difficult to put into words what Kipp did for Emily. At 16, Emily first enrolled in the Long Beach Parks and Recreation group class taught by Kipp. Kipp had such a comforting, encouraging, and yet “cool” way with the students that Emily asked to take private lessons. Kipp brings to the lessons her knowledge and skill with the guitar, as well as the extensive life skills she has learned. Emily felt comfortable talking with Kipp, and her confidence grew. Kipp helped her in many ways – with her friendships, her relationships in the family, and she also helped Emily in school. As a result of Kipp’s guidance and suggestions, Emily’s study habits improved. She has since passed on those study techniques to her two younger sisters. This was a rough time in Emily’s life, and Kipp was a vital part in helping her grow. We are forever grateful to her

There are great guitar players who teach, but not all of them are great teachers. That's what Scot is. I took lessons from Scot for about 6 months, and I know things that seasoned guitar players don't know. I know where notes are, I know scales, and I know the entire map of the fret board. The basic stuff that everyone should know, not just "put your fingers here and strum". Because of that I can play bar chords, power chords, and I have a solid base for how far I want to take my playing. Highly recommend.

Erik will teach you any song or solo you want to learn and will not need any notice before the lesson. He will listen to the solo right infront of you and transcribe note-for-note on paper and then teach it to you making it simple and breaking it down into sections. The best way to improve your guitar is to learn the solos of your favorite artists. I've had several teachers since I dicided to take up guitar again and he is bar none the best! Not just because he's able to articulate and give you very structured lessons with hand written notes that will eliminate the guess work later, he's also the best because he's a very nice guy and you won't feel awkward to go for a lick and mess up! Even though the guy you're playing with (Erik) is 10 times better then you! Quick side note, I accepted a long time ago that would never learn the modes (greek scale system for soloing to different styles of music), every other teacher (some who didn't know them and some who did) could not explain it and felt like I would have to learn a 100 scales so I ignored them. Erik taught me them and I can solo in any mode and in any key with ease, it took about 8 weeks, lessons once a week and during those lessons I still walked away with a complete solo to learn each time. Taking lessons is not just about investing in yourself and in your playing. You need to find a great teacher, Erik is the man!

My daughter had the good fortune to connect with Dave for guitar lessons at a private music studio for about 6 months and then we transitioned to private in-home lessons for an additional 2 years. My two sons also took lessons with Dave during that time. Not only is Dave a very talented musician, but he is also amazingly versatile and a gifted teacher. He taught electric and acoustic guitar as well as piano to my children, and worked on a lot of composition and songwriting with my daughter. He even went above and beyond his teaching role to help her record some of her songs. Dave is an excellent teacher - very patient and adaptable with all ages and skill levels, dependable and flexible - a true professional and a pleasure to work with!

Daryl is great with kids! I've been taking lessons from him for a few months, and recently got him to give my 10 year old nephew a lesson. My nephew is so excited about guitar and motivated to learn, and is already playing simple chords and songs. My nephew and I look forward to continuing with Daryl.
