I have had the privilege and honor of working with Sharon and I wish to share my experience so those out there, seeking to find that special person find solace and comfort in reading this. Sharon is an extremely attuned individual, who clearly has been a master of her craft for many years. She will listen to you, while collecting a sketch of who you are, what you have done and where you wish to go as a professional. She, as a paintbrush does with colors, will formulate in the most concise, relevant and articulate way, who you are and all that you have done and wish to, assembled beautifully and formatted with all that you have asked for in writing. She is expert with many platforms, is determined, authentic and committed to a client she works with, and I could not have asked for someone better in all areas! Her main goal/focus is to get you where you need to be - regardless of how close or far one is to the goal. It is difficult enough to self-market, even for those who are good with this, but she will always find a way to make the narrative interesting and memorable in the way she places her wording and chooses her statements about the person she works with. In addition, she her sensibilities and ability to really listen to the person makes for a more valuable journey, since she has a natural way of being an introspective listener while allowing the person to self-reflect. This allows for one to be honest with one's professional quest. I chose Sharon among many that are listed for professional writers/job seekers etc. Sharon works at all levels of the corporate hierarchy so her knowledge base, expertise and approach are all integrated behind successful yield and results! She has this personal touch in the way she works with you, and you at all times feel she gets to know you, versus it being just another client. She takes great pride in her work, will research everything there is to know and is diligent within her time frames and deadlines she sets for herself. I could not have been happier working with Sharon. She is a rare gem and I would highly recommend her to anyone who seeks professional advice/guidance and coaching. She is in addition, an extremely gifted writer. Thank you so much Sharon for your time, wisdom and incredible skills!

I was an associate of Rena at Harris Stratex Corp. She was responsible for documentation, both technical and user facing. We worked together for several months and I found Rena to be a clear and concise writer, atypically technically competent, with excellent managerial instincts. I enjoyed working with Rena and would love to do so again. I recommend her highly.

First off, Melissa helped me earn an A in my college Calculus class. My experience with her was nearly life-changing, in terms of academics and my approach to my classes. I wasn't doing well in my university and did not have the motivation to put effort into my studies, but Melissa changed all of that. She motivated me and guided me, with the utmost care, kindness, passion, and effort I have seen from a person. When we first started our classes, she explained to me why tutoring was so valuable to her in her life, and that helped me gain positivity about the experience I would have with her. Melissa was unbelievably helpful, she pushed me in all the right ways to do well, and puts all the effort and energy she has into assisting her students. I truly believe she wants everyone to be successful and to realize that they really can achieve things; and now I believe I can succeed and do better than ever in my academics because of her. I highly encourage any student whether in elementary school, high school, or college to tutor with her. Her personality is great and you will get so much out of lessons with her. You will succeed more, improve in the ways that you want to, and maybe even find a passion for those subjects you once used to really struggle with. Thank you so much for your help, Melissa! I am so grateful to you. P.S. She's not only excellent in Math, she's a wonderful writer, so take advantage of that and ask her to help you with your essays or literature classes because she's excellent in those areas as well.

My copywriting gets your phone to ring and customers to click. I've been a student of effective copywriting for a long time. I trained for a full year under an Internet kingpin in the area of copywriting and learned how to coach other copywriters in the process. I also wrote a book called, 'Becoming Irresistible: How TO Pack Your Copyriting Business With Five New Clients Every Month.' It's on Amazon. I love that I work only on projects that I perceive are in line with my values. I can pick and choose what projects I work on. Because of this, I can place my palette of skills and experience on each project to obtain the most beneficial results.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
