Called Erik around 8pm, he arrived at 9pm, then stopped my roof leaking immediately by plastic around 10pm. How wonderful he is! In the whole San Diego county, just a couple of roofers would like to do emergent work at night, he is one of the best! He is honest, knowledgeable and diligent. I will be no doubt to let him repair my roof further in the future.

I needed a roofer to repair and replace cracked and slipped tiles as part of a escrow repair request. I contacted Phil through Thumbtack. He was on site the next day at the promised time, provided a quote (for less than half of quotes from other roofers and for less that the minimum charge of others), and performed the work within an hour of arriving. The work is professional, warrantied and done. Highly recommend and will use again.

Hector Gomez provided a very competitive quote against (4) other roofing companies promptly. His license and insurance followed to support his quote and progressive manner to get my business. A schedule was created, materials were purchased, and work began The work was done thoroughly to our satisfaction. Hector explained what was being done on our patio roof and the job was completed. Clean-up was performed and we are ready to entertain under our new patio roof. New customers will want to call No Limit Roofing.

I was referred to Team All Star by my friend who they had done some work for to do my house remodel, they did my roof, my windows, my air conditioning, a new patio and painted. All the work was started at the same time and they completed it in about a week. I am so happy, all the workers from the roofers to the painters did an amazing job, and I just love my windows. Larry came out with Sean and gave me some tips on design and it all has turned out so beautiful. I want to mention that even though I called Larry a lot, he never complained even when it was 10 pm, he always was kind and courteous. Dealing with Larry and Team All Star was like working with my family, they really made me feel important. Thanks you guys!

Ron was very responsive during the end of the stormy season when most other roofers didn't have the time. He provided a competitive estimate and was able to schedule the repair work much faster during a really busy time. Thanks for doing a great job!

Robert was the first roofer out of 9 roofers who did not flake out and fail to submit a quote. I am looking forward to my new roof.

We are a small 6 unit HOA in South Redondo Beach. Our roof had never been replaced, and sorely need to be. We worked closely with Frank. He was very straight with the bids. We got bids from 3 other roofers. What impressed us was that the bid they gave us initially was close to their final bid. You can count on them to be fair. Also we were impressed by the knowledge and the commitment to putting a roof on that would be beautiful and Last! They were willing to be patient with us through the process it takes to get everything approved by our HOA. The owner dropped by several times to check on the progress and answer any questions we had. i could go on & on but I think you get the picture these guys are good! The crew was great,,, on time, on task, courteous and oh my gosh very hard working! They were responsive every step of the way. We have a beautiful new roof! We could not be more pleased. I have included before and after Photos for you to see the work they

Beginning with the estimate, they were very professional and provided me with information no other roofers did. They were able to complete the job earlier than planned. They provided pictures during the process and of the completion. I highly recommend them.

WOW.. this company was absolutely amazing.... Rudy, the Owner, and Jhonny, our Project Manager were outstanding people to communicate with. Their follow thru is second to none. The Roof Masters Team/Crew were on time, polite and courteous. They did their work quickly and efficiently. (and in very high heat temperatures I might add) They re-placed our entire roof and added new vents. They thoroughly cleaned up every day, leaving our surrounding area spotless. It looks beautiful. We have already had several of our neighbors comment on how great the roofers were and how beautiful it looks. I am sure we will be handing out lots of recommendations in our community. We have no hesitation in giving The Roof Masters a glowing FIVE STAR recommendation. Thanks so much guys...

Very happy with our new roof. Pacific Homeworks products are backed by very long warranties and they have many choices of quality shingles. Quite pricey but they finance which helped us finally replace our 27 year old roof which had been patched so many times you could see the sub coming through! Roofers were always on time, clean and tidy and nice to have around . Would recommend to anyone.

Does great work fast! Reasonable prices with a warranty. Worked to fix my roof before the next rain. Many other roofers said they were too busy or wanted too much for the work.

Every other contractor that came out was a huge disappointment. One wanted to re-due the roof for 40k, then never bothered to send an actual quote. Roofers are a bad bunch but John fixed the issue for less than $2,000! I was in dire straights after being flooded & John was literally the only contractor that was reasonable & did the job. I found him on thumbtack, be careful people, it’s not cool when your roof is leaking & roofers just see volnerable people with little knowledge & options. Thanks John!! The entire process was quick and painless. Prince (Owner) was wonderful - responsive & great follow through. After going through two roofers who took the money and never did the job right , I decided to go through Thumbtack , best thing I ever did. Prince responded right away with a very reasonable price. He came by next day and fixed the problem within the same day , he also fixed another leak and charged me only 50% less from the original price. Did fine job. Completed in good time, workmanship looks good. Good response from Prince before and after job. I recommended him to my neighbor in the same week. Prince keep up the good job , with a service like this you don't need to advertise, you got word to mouth .

I was selling my house and called Best Professional Roofing. Fausto came to inspect my house. He was courteous and respectful. He was honest and said I did not have any roofing issues but there were some parts that needed to be treated because of termites. I was thankful for his professional opinion. To top it all,he did not even charge me for the inspection. Highly recommend!

We started out with a roof repair and a doorbell installation. Tony knows what he is doing and he does it very well. We were so pleased with his work that we have now hired him to fix the poor work done by a different handyman. He will be sanding and repainting the front door and then repairing, sanding, and repainting our deck. My only regret is that we did not find him sooner! Highly recommended!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
