Eli was able to come out the same day I contacted him and leveled my front doors so the lock/strike plate lined up again. I wish I would have conracted them sooner. Would definitely use again.
Thanh was very friendly, professional, and punctual. He did a built-in closet for me, and his work is very good. I highly recommend Thanh!
I have to say this is the first time I took a risk on hiring someone who was not referred to me by someone I knew. HOUSE TO HOME is actually a perfect name for I have never been so empowered about my home with knowledge and expertise as I was during and after the repair work that TJ did for my mother's multiple properties (complex electrical work and door adjustments). I honestly have to say that I know more about all the areas he addressed and he is a neat worker and educates the client and tenant. HOUSE TO HOME resolved a long standing issue with my tenant's front and back doors - an issue I have had 3 different handymen look at and none were able to complete to my tenant's satisfaction - TJ DID!! He was also very good communicator during the entire process and gave me options and pros and cons and managed the work proactively and resourcefully. I HIGHLY recommend, and believe me with having to manage 6 properties I have worked with many people and HOUSE TO HOME tops the list.
Charles replaced two old entry doors, one to a garage and one inside.. Excellent work. I'm gonna use him again for three more projects, bathroom remodel, block wall and another project for my outdoor garden
Two years ago, in October 2013, I met Doug from Gillespie Doors. He came to my house, to install a new garage access door (the current one wouldnt withstand the weather elements) with a built-in doggy door. Having a construction background, I knew that it was very important to hire an experienced person when hanging doors. Doug instructed me to get the dog door that I wanted and he would put it in for me prior to him showing up. Doug was supposed to be at the house at 7 am, however, he arrived 15 minutes early (rarely in these days). He had the old jamb out and the new door fit in about 30 minutes. When it was completed, the door looked like it had been there for 40 years. Very professional install, thats what happens when you hire someone with a contractors license whose number is 742587 and has what I have come to learn is over 25 years, in California, installing doors. Last year, in December; I called on Doug again but with a very different problem. I hired a General Contractor (GC) to rehab my mother-in-law rental house. (The GC was to replace all interior, exterior and metal security doors. When I took my mother-in-law to look at the rehab progress we saw disturbing door hanging practices, such as exterior doors having been installed with spray foam and a few screws and the back, exterior door of which the contractor disturbingly bought and installed an out-swing door. When we followed up with the GC, the response was along the lines of we put in like for like. If you want it done different do it yourself. What happened to doing it correctly the first time?) With that said, I called Doug at Gillespie Doors and he moved around his schedule to get me in the next day. Upon arrival he noticed several items that were incorrect with the doors that my GC installed, and only a licensed door professional would be able to tell these issues: The entry door that the GC installed was placed over the old rotten oak sill, which Doug found was loose and the GC tried to fix it in place with expanding foam insulation. That did not work because, after Doug removed the poorly installed pre-hung unit, the oak sill literally fell out. While removing the pre-hung unit, Doug noticed that there were hardly any shims holding the frame in place, but instead the GC had screwed the door jamb in place (roughly), and then filled it in with foam insulation and without any shims so nothing was plumb or square. This then caused the entry door to rub on the floor when opened halfway, and would not allow for carpet or padding for that matter. On the rear door of the house, Doug found the GC installed that as poorly as the front door as it also had the expanding foam insulation and very few shims, but it was the WRONG door completely. The GC bought an out swinging door, and installed it backwards to swing in. If the GC would have left that in place, in Dougs estimation, it would have leaked like a sieve. Doug also noticed on this door that the installer had filled a gap in the rough opening with small pieces of 1 x 4 when a single piece was called for. Doug is a hard worker and knows his trade. Hanging doors is an art and from the examples above a GC shouldnt be screwing around hanging doors. Doug correctly installed my Entry Door along with the Rear Door. He also re-hung the security doors that my GC took off that never re-installed. Doug went so far above and beyond that he helped me fix an interior door that the GC never cut the bottom off to allow for carpet. I am totally satisfied with the workmanship from Doug. I will only be calling him to handle all of my door projects in the future.
Houman was very responsive and helpful - he stopped by in the early afternoon to assess our set up and needs, and came back in the late afternoon to do the installation once I got the right equipment. Clean and professional. Would definitely recommend!
Kent came exactly on time and did the work requested. I wasn't present when the work was done, but my husband was and said Kent was a really nice guy and knowledgeable. He even gave us advice on our ceiling, we really appreciated that. Kent's work was as complete as he could have left it. He filled in gaps between the door frame and the plaster we had. It turned out well, but when it dried, it required the finishing sanding it always requires with a job like this. I let him know, and he said he would come back. My husband felt weird about Kent coming back to finish, so he went ahead and sanded the work. I let Kent know what my husband did so he didn't have to come. I didn't hear from him after my last communication, which wasn't too surprising because his communications were getting shorter after I asked him to come back to finish sanding. My only constructive feedback is about clean-up. Kent did not clean up the area when he completed the work. I set up the area with plastic so he could start work right away and so it was done well so the sanding wouldn't get into my kitchen/house and affect my severe allergies. I don't know if he thought since I did the set-up, that I would take care of the clean-up, because I didn't get a direct response on that. Normally all contractors clean-up after themselves even if I prep for them, so I was disappointed with that. Overall, Kent's work was good. He educated my husband on the expectations, which is what a good worker does. I would hire Kent again because he does good work, he talks through his work with you, and will follow-up if you have any issues with the work. It's an easy fix to solve the clean-up issue. Thanks Kent!
I purchased some office furniture from Ikea. Jerome came out to assemble the furniture. While at my office he also did some minor repairs and rehung a couple doors that were not working correctly. When the time comes I will definitely call him again!
Rene was a complete professional and did a fantastic job installing my new doors. Am planning on having him replace at least 8 additional doors in the near future.
Hector showed up right on time. He is very professional and inspires instant trust which I was able to confirm based on his behavior and work ethic. He did a great job installing a bathroom vent, fixing an electric outlet and door latch. He is very honest and he's pricea are reasonable. I have asked him to return and do some plumbing work in addition to other hone projects. I plan on using him for all my future hone repair and projects. I highly recommend him.
I had an extremely positive experience with Thumbtack and the professional I hired, Derrick from Cheap and Affordable Doors. He removed the old doors, jambs and installed 7 new prehung doors and casings. I couldn't ask for better results for a very reasonable price. Every door works perfectly the trim is mitered to perfection, he pays attention to detail. If your looking for a true craftsman Derrick is the one, a pleasant professional and committed to his work. He did and excellent job I would not hesitate to hire him again or recommend him to others. Tom H.

I would highly recommend him and his company.
Wow George gave me a great quote for shaving 7 closet doors and putting them on track and to replace a toilet. The day scheduled to do the work, he managed to fix my refrigerator lines and repair a drawer as well as the closet doors and replacinh the toilet. He had to go look for some parts at a couple of stores and got the job done. We're very happy with his service. We will definitely call him again.
Sam was wonderful! How many handymen take off their shoes when they come in the door? He worked tirelessly in very hot conditions, professional at all times. He's a handyman I would recommend to anyone who needs someone who will do the work well at a reasonable price.
Contacted George with a list of projects I had in mind, but needed a price to see how much I could get done and what the costs would be. George came over to give me a quote and a breakdown of costs of each project and payment schedule, which I appreciated. We went ahead with the work. One of the bigger projects we had George and his team do was to knock down our existing patio and concrete and put up a new one. Old patio was 15' x 20' we did a new 15' x 40' patio. Very happy with the quality of work and the patio itself. Other projects include removing bulkhead and putting up new drywall, installing can lights, new roof, and putting up new doors. I was most impressed by two things - 1) the open communication between us, and 2) the professionalism and politeness from George and his workers. Even little hiccups were properly communicated and worked out. I will definitely be working with them again.
Timely arrival, discussion about what needed to be done and the job was done! My front door works great! Thank you!
Danny is a very professional young man....we had 6 inside doors, 3 closet doors and 2 outside doors installed by Danny and his partner in one day, they left our house as clean as when they started the job....they both did an above excellent job, their work was done perfectly....I would recommend them to anyone.
Mark did a great job on my screen door!
I've worked with Kent now on numerous projects. He's installed a new front door for us, hung a new medicine cabinet, replaced a door threshold and a rotted out window sill. He's work is high quality and detailed oriented.
Just had windows installed, yesterday. They look beautiful and it seems that I can already tell the difference in how they filter noise and light. Their installers were also very professional and relatively fast.
I needed a retractable screen door put up. My friend referred Will and he did a great job. The screen door was a bit of a challenge because the instructions were terrible and my door jam isn't a typical one. I will definitely use him again
