Stephan did a wonderful job tuning our recent estate sale purchase! He was extremely knowledge, prompt and pleasant to interact with. He agreed to come last minute and still kept his price low. We really appreciated his work and will definitely recommend him to any friends looking for an expert to tune their piano. You can tell her is very passionate about his work. Great experience overall!

Kathleen H.

Stephan was a joy. The tuning went smoothly and I had my first piano lesson immediately following it. His breadth of knowledge is very impressive and his sensitivity to the gaps in mine made me feel very comfortable and helped with my own particular learning curve. I would highly recommend Stephan as a tuner and a teacher...

Stephan did an amazing job on our ancient and terribly out of tune piano! He truly loves his craft and is a total joy to work with.

Consider yourself extremely lucky if you can get lessons with Blake Paulson. There isn't any aspect of drumming he can't teach you, and he has REAL life experience in all of it. You don't just get lessons on stuff to play, he'll teach anything and everything from hand and foot technique to recording drums, playing and recording with other musicians, playing in all styles of music, millions of different way to approach your practice, or whatever else you can think of to work on, and if you can't think of anything he'll pinpoint what you really need to work on and he'll take it from there. Exactly what you would want from a teacher. He has also written many of his own method books for learning and practicing which by themselves are great tools to advance your playing, but you can actually get lessons from the author himself. There isn't a better way to get the most out of the material! Plus (if that wasn't already enough) he has a real professional rehearsal studio to have the lessons where you play on REAL equipment and get to record on state-of-the-art recording equipment that would be used in REAL professional recording scenarios. Blake's got all the tools you need to succeed plus years of experience as a teacher and successful professional musician, couldn't ask for a better teacher! Thanks for teaching Blake!

Blake is an amazing musician and an exceptional drum instructor. I've been taking lessons with him for a few months, and I'm inspired by his knowledge and passion for drumming. He has a very effective approach to methods of teaching, and he keeps me challenged while helping me to move forward quickly. I was impressed with his awesome studio in N. Hollywood. It's clean, organized, and the the most practical setting for learning. He's also given me advice on selecting drum equipment, drum tuning, how to approach practicing, and overcoming obstacles. Blake is positive, patient, encouraging, and makes learning the drums extremely enjoyable! I look forward to my lessons each week, and I would highly recommend Blake for drum instruction!

My son Max has been taking drum lessons from Blake for almost a year. He hit the ground running from day one, teaching the basics including reading music which I believe every musician should know. Blake's methods and personality have made drum lessons enjoyable and Max looks forwarded to his weekly sessions. I would absolutely recommend Blake to anyone interested in learning to play the drums.

If you have the opportunity to study with Alex Snydman please take it. Outside of his infectiously positive attitude and kind heart, he is also an INCREDIBLE drum teacher. I can't recommend him highly enough and feel so lucky to be studying with him. I look forward to my lessons every week and after trying many teachers finally found someone who I feel is the best!!! Also I feel it is important to note that he can teach all styles and is extremely accomplished. I have been lucky to see him play live over the past few years and am in awe of his playing...trust me, try him and you will not regret it.

I started taking drum lessons later in life as I've always wanted to learn. After a great birthday present from a friend I started lessons with Mike. He is great at listening to what I wanted to learn and was very, very patient with me. I've always had trouble reading music but he taught me in no time and made the lessons very fun and interesting. He let me pick the songs I wanted to learn and he would even play along to help me get it right! Mike is a very talented drummer, musician and teacher. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in learning the drums, he'll have you playing in no time!!

Ms. Ernesta is an outstanding piano instructor. Very professional and knowledgeable. Her instruction is very informative and fun at the same time. She is very patient and has great communication skills. My daughter is always looking forward having lessons with Ernesta. She has learned important basics of the music theory and also was able to play short versions of her favorite tunes after only few lessons. Thank you, Ms. Ernesta! Great instructor. Highly recommend to anyone interested learning piano!

Prior to taking drum lessons with John, I had taken about 7 long gruesome years of piano lessons. My interest in music was at an all time low and I was looking for a new experience with drums. Luckily, for me, I was able to find John James, possibly the best person for the job. Right from the start, John was a positive and patient teacher. He came into every lesson with enthusiasm and encouragement and helped me to feel comfortable. His 19+ years of experience with drums and a major in percussion assured me that he knew what he was doing. John really makes an effort to make sure that all of his students know the absolute basics of drumming such as counting, reading, and technique, which will all greatly benefit you later on. His undying patience astounds me to this day and I greatly appreciate how he never yells at his students. I often have to ask for constructive criticism because he is always so positive and encouraging. However, just because he is patient does not mean that he will slow you down. He is always aware of his student's skill level and capabilities and works to constantly challenge you to a point. As a result, the rate of progression with him is pretty high. I have been taking lessons with John for about 6 months now. Although I was bad with rhythm at first (due to the piano), he helped me to progress at a very high pace. In about a month or two, I was already practicing on the drums and reading notes at a proficient level. As a college student, I naturally do not have too much time to invest in drumming but amazingly, with John's help, I am able to consistently advance further and further every week. If I hadn't met John, I would have given up drumming by now. With every lesson, John makes me feel more and more confident that someday I will become a BEAST at the drums.

I had taken about 6 months of drum lessons and sort of hit a wall with my progress. I needed a teacher who would customize for my interests and abilities and help me stay motivated to practice at home. So far I have taken 2 hours of lessons with John J who is a very patient and encouraging teacher. He has already covered so much ground that previous teachers glossed over, and I feel like I have a much more solid foundation because of it. I would recommend his drum lessons for any age because he can definitely meet you at your current skill level, and it seems like he could get along with anybody--kids, teens, and adults.

Justin M.

My first impression of John was that he contacted me back. Quickly. So right away I knew he was excited and interested to get our lessons started. His passion for music and music education is great and shows through his well thought out lesson plans which he's customized according to my skill level and progress. Speaking of which I couldn't have asked for a better teacher than John based on how much I've grown as a drummer these last few months and how much more confident I feel behind the kit. I highly recommend that you contact him immediately. You know that he'll contact you right back.

I met Howard in1990, and had NOT played the piano for over 25 years! When I was 7-8 years old, I started my first lessons. I was, not at all knowing - BUT - I was a child prodigy! At 12, I asked my parents to let me go to Juillard! I didn't even know, back then, that everyone auditions to get into this World-REKNOWNED school! I would've gotten in! My Mother, who won all interactions with my Dad - said NO! For me - she said "Maybe for college!" To make a REALLY LONG story shorter - drugs & The 60s - GOT ME! In 1990, when Howard came into my life, I was already 7 yrs, clean & sober! AND - I had a hole in my heart, as my own music, was missing! My 1st lesson with Howard was EXTRA ORDINARY! I cried! I could NOT play a note! After awhile, that same lesson, Howard just told me to close my eyes, with my hands on the piano, and play anything! I DID! My embarrassment turned into tears of joy! After 1-2 yrs later - thinking of myself still, as a beginner (again), Howard asked me what I thought of - becoming a piano teacher! I didn't understand & I had NO degrees! Howard told me I only needed a degree to teach in Public Schools! I had, NEVER - in my life, allowed someone else to help me create my own path! BUT - watching Howard, teaching me & others - he was ALWAYS SMILING! I thought that, just MAYBE - I could be smiling too, AND - get paid for that too?!? Howard took a photo of me, helped me word a flyer, AND - actually, got me my very 1st student! I was TERRIFIED! Howard told me - just show up & you will know JUST WHAT TO DO! He even, because of my deep fear - told me that IF I could not show up - DON'T! Within 6 months of waitressing & a few piano students, AGAIN! Here comes Howard! A fellow piano teacher/friend - who had 30 students - found the love of HER life, was moving out-of-state & asked Howard what to do with her business!?! He told her to give it to D.J. (ME!) We met for lunch, & within 1 week, I was a full-time piano teacher!!!!! You want a referral? GO SEE HOWARD! 😊 XoX ❤️ There is no one - BETTER!!!!!

Howard Richman is not a piano teacher...he is a LIFE CHANGER. I went to him to learn piano...but realized that the lessons I learned studying piano with the MASTER were not merely lessons in music....but lessons that helped me see outside the paradigm in all areas of my life. Often, as adults, we "come back" to our music...to study what we have been "wanting to get back to" for years. I learned that this is often a time of great change and evolution for us personally. Howard, being so intuitive, knows how to tune in to each individual's needs.... and empower them to EMPOWER themselves. He is a BRILLIANT pianist, composer and master teacher. I've watched him perform miracles with young children who struggled with other teachers who simply wanted to teach "by the book." Howard is always able to find your inner talent and abilities, possibly that are even unknown to you...and he can creatively, intuitively and intelligently create a course of action that will leave you amazed! That's why you are reading SO many wonderful comments here about him. If you are lucky enough to get to study with Howard, it will change your life!...and btw, I can now play a mean Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata"....Thank you for everything you taught me Howard Richman! I wanted a teacher that could work with an older adult who not had piano lessons since childhood. After many years, I wanted to challenge myself by getting back into piano and I wanted to bring music back into my life. I was a bit nervous about making the commitment and about the time investment that would be required. I also didn’t know a good teacher so I asked around. Howard’s name came up. He was recommended as a patient and knowledgeable teacher that would do wonders with students. Howard’s approach is not the conventional one that I experienced as a child. He presents many types of approaches and uses lots of tools and techniques to build your skills and understanding of the structure of music. Now, I’m stretching myself to learn, remember and apply these skills and it feels really good! I actually enjoy practicing my piano. Now thats a testimony to Howard’s influence! If you are looking for a teacher that can accommodate your needs, encourage and inspire you, meet Howard and try him out. I’m confident that you will be very pleased with him as a professional and as a teacher.

My son Prahalad had taken piano lessons with Cesar Canocelis before we moved to Northern California. Prahalad started out as a complete beginner and within a year, he was playing some beautiful pieces. Cesar is engaging, energetic and very good with kids. He has a good sense for what each child will enjoy and how each child learns. Prahalad always looked forward to his lessons and stayed interested in piano throughout. Cesar focussed on technique, skill and theory while cultivating a genuine love for the instrument in the child. Prahalad still loves to play the piano, thanks to Cesar and the wonderful foundation he gave him!

My daughter does Vocal & Piano lessons with Electra, she is one of the best music coach my daughter has worked with so far...... I am amazed by her progress. She also does Guitar lessons with Josh, who is also amazing...she is finally enjoying her guitar :) Since my daughter has been with SoundCheck she has shown more excitement towards music vocally and instrumentally. My son began taking drum lessons with Lindsay via skype at 6 years old. He will be 9 next month and is still loving his drum lessons. He has learned so much in such a short period of time. Not only is Lindsay clearly a skilled drummer but is also an apt teacher. She is patient while pushing my son to improve his skills. I know from personal experience that learning an instrument can be frustrating to the point that the student will want to give up. This is especially true for a kid. Lindsay understands this and has the ability to balance progress with patience. I highly recommend Lindsay as a drum teacher!

Michael has a very straight forward approach to teaching. Whether it was answering a technique question or developing new ways to manuever around the set, each lesson consisted of my thoroughly learning new information in a practical and very efficient manner. Being a percussionist myself, we naturally have good rapport with the language we communicate with. Michael's way of personal interaction alongside his instrument is certainly one of the best forays into any practice and study of music, for those just starting or already proficient.

At 34 years of age I decided to learn how to play a music instrument. After searching the valley for a teacher I found iMusic Academy. What made my attention was the fact that they send the teachers to your home. That was it was very convenient and easy for me to get started with guitar lessons. Eric started teaching me the guitar once a week. He is a really great teacher and has helped me progress very well. Eric is a master of the guitar and realyl knows how to teach you how to play. I highly recommend iMusic Academy as an excellent music school and Eric as a teacher.

We love having Brian Griffin as a drum/percussion teacher. My son began lessons as a young elementary student, and Brian was able to engage him immediately by creating lessons around the music he was drawn to. Over the years Brian's teaching continually evolved with my son's interests and focus. There has always been an excellent rapport between them, while maintaining the dynamic of student/teacher relationship. Brian has always shown a high level of professionalism, he's always engaged and enthusiastic, and my son has developed not only in the mechanics of percussion but also what it means to be part of an ensemble and just an overall well-rounded musician. We are grateful for his years of instruction and support.
