JJ and I have started an intense workout regimen that quite frankly is kicking my a@%... but is exactly what I need to get back into shape both in muscle tone and cardiovascular stamina. He is at once approachable and friendly, he doesn't shout but will hold you to pushing yourself as far as you can go, and then a little more. If you are committed to getting into shape, I HIGHLY recommend meeting up with JJ. He is also extremely knowledgeable regarding nutrition and will literally answer any nutrition questions I have as often as I have them throughout the day via text in a very quick manner. I also really love the variety of workouts he has led me through: weigh training, intense cardio, interval training, boxing/martial arts... I'm pretty convinced he can do anything. Three things you should know: 1. You will sweat... a lot! 2. You will be sore... really sore. 3. You will have a good time through it.
Great first training session! Very informative and personable , looking forward to my next session!
Paul is an extremely professional, friendly and helpful trainer! He is experienced and knows what he is doing. He gives out meal plans and excercises that is suitable for my level. I have been training with him for three months now, results are obvious and satisfying! I am really happy with Paul and would recommend him with no doubts!
Manuk gave me an absolutely 5 STAR work out EVERY SINGLE SESSION. Honestly if you are serious about your body goals and are going to commit to work out and have a healthier eating, I totally recommend going to Manuk for training, you would be working hard and he won't give up on you. He really knows what he is doing and was able to answer every doubt I had about the proper way to do any exercise, doubts about the diet I was having before and why I was not seeing results in other gyms or training by myself. I had a great experience and changed the way I was training for the best, so I thought it would we worth to leave 5 stars here, so hopefully this is helpful for anybody who is willing to work hard and wants to achieve great results on their body.
I've been working with Gabriel at DeVine Physiques for a little over 2 months now. Having been senior editor for a personal-training and group-fitness training magazine in years passed, I had some definite criteria in mind when looking for someone to help me overcome my difficulties with diet-plan adherence and learning quintessential moves that I was afraid to try due to injury potential if performed incorrectly. Upon meeting Gabriel for our free consultation, we reviewed my history with diet, exercise and past injuries, as well as my current goals vs. efforts I'd tried on my own to reach them. He asked the right questions, but more importantly he let me talk about these topics in-depth when needed and actively listened. He did not have a cookie-cutter approach in mind... he was looking for ways to optimize a plan to promote diet/exercise-program adherence and injury prevention relative to my goals with a conscious consideration as to my physical characteristics and limitations at that time (flexibility limits, minor chiropractic concerns, native structural particulars such as being bow-legged, flat-footed, etc.). The plan I brought to the table was "burn and build": start with a goal of losing 25 pounds (cutting), per the suggestion of my physician ... and then shift gears to building muscle on top of that new leaner frame (bulking) --- with cycles of both going forward from there. Gabriel worked with me to develop that idea into action. He advised me re: the importance of tracking calories and made suggestions as to apps that could be leveraged to aide in that often-tedious endeavor. He set me up with his customized trainer/client app and I connected MyFitnessPal to it to funnel data re: my daily nutritional and hydration tracking to him. We've started with two 50-minute workout sessions per week for now. Our goal has been to keep me below 2,000 calories per day... and his strong suggestion (not mandate, mind you... very important) to track everything has opened my eyes as to the caloric and nutritional content of everything I *was* eating (holy crap!) and have currently shifted to eating (oh thank God!). Coupled with drinking at least 96 oz. of water per day (also tracked) to help keep the body hydrated and aide with hunger as my body adjusted to the caloric reduction, my prior junk-food habit/addiction has gone away --- which, as I write this, had not fully hit me re: how big of a deal that really is. I haven't thought of a soda or French fries, etc., in quite some time... instead, I've been trying to figure out just how many ounces of chicken breast are on my plate at XYZ restaurant so I can get an accurate calorie figure for my tracking. ;-) The physical results have been *much* more than I initially expected. In roughly 2 months I've gone from 225 pounds at 5'11" to 204, and now we're looking at what to do once I hit my 200-pound goal. The current verdict is to go for another 10 pounds and see where I land and how I feel before shifting gears to more-intense focus on building/bulking. My cardio efficiency has increased greatly, as I no longer feel like I'm going to fall over going up and down flights of stairs. And whereas I was wearing XL shirts when I walked in the door, I recently shifted to L for the first time in a very long while. I've actually started to look forward to shopping for new clothes and don't dread going into fitting rooms and facing the mirror --- even the ones with horrible lighting. LOL For me, the key to success has been a combination of really wanting to do this coupled with Gabriel's friendly, positive reinforcement. He always points out when I've broken through barriers in my workouts with him, and has schooled me in very understandable terms re: basic anatomy, form, how things such as sitting and driving affect our flexibility and posture over time, etc. Gabriel's never mandated I do anything... instead, he's *encouraged* food tracking, hydration, caloric reduction, showing up for all our sessions, etc., couching those actions as being the bedrock for achieving the goals that *I* walked in the door with. The responsibility lies with *me* to do the work in the exercise programming he sets up for each session as well as the between-sessions work (which is actually *more* important in the long run). His welcoming, friendly, encouraging advisement regarding form and function as we work together in those sessions helps me keep moving forward progressively, efficiently and safely. We developed an easy rapport quite quickly, but Gabriel's very good about keeping us on task ... all while allowing me to catch my breath and regroup between sets or cardio sprints. There is no militaristic aggressive "go go go!!!" kind of atmosphere, but rather a "when you're ready... you've got this... you can and will because you are" approach to gently psyching me up when I might be feeling a bit of a dip in my gas tank. And when I'm actually lifting -- particularly if we're escalating weight to a new level -- he knows when to turn on a little-bit-more-"cheerleader" type of encouragement to help me push through... again, though, all centered on the idea that this is *me* working through *this moment* aiming for completion of *this movement* while being able to trust that he's there to help me make adjustments for optimal safe execution and spot me should I run into an exertion failure --- which is pretty rare, given his method of having rebuilt and reinforced the infrastructure of my core, lower back and legs with moves that I always wanted to try but was scared to do (deadlifts, in particular). He's walked me through those learning curves and longstanding hesitation to the other side where I'm much more confident and actually making marked progress in form + how much weight I can lift. I'm doing things at 43 years of age that I'd always been scared to do. If this has been my experience at the 2-month mark of working with Gabriel, I can't imagine where we'll be at the 4-month mark... or the 6-month mark! This has definitely been one of the most important and positive investments I've made in myself, and definitely the most physical-fitness progress I've made all around since having worked with a personal-trainer roommate who schooled me on basics in my mid-20s. The body usually changes quickly in your 20s, and I was afraid that I'd have a slow tedious climb in my 40s... but Gabriel's coaching (and my diligence; very important factor) have made that climb much faster and fulfilling than I thought would be possible. I look better. I feel better. I eat better. I move better. I *am* better. Other people have noticed ... and *I* have noticed -- not just on the surface, but inside as well -- and I want to keep moving forward to see what working with Gabriel holds in store around the bend.
I hired Kellie in March 2014 as my fitness trainer. I was in size 2x. Since doing Kellie's work outs, I have gone down two sizes. Her workouts are tough, and she targets your troubled areas. She is on time and friendly with her clients. She gives pointers and work out homework for the down times. She provides amino acid recovery drinks for the really intense workouts. I recommend Kellie for your fitness training because she knows what she is doing and we are seeing results.
Gil is a wonderful trainer! He is the perfect balance between motivating and fun. Start training with him and I'm sure you won't regret it!
From my first training I was hooked! Not only was Jamie entertaining, she gives the best workouts ever. What impresses me most is that she mixes up each session so it never gets boring. Another advantage, is that she individualizes her training to fit you!! I am a member of Spectrum and found myself doing the same boring workout, now I compliment what I continue to learn from Jamie and have more motivation to workout. She is also unbelievable intuitive. She can detect if you are doing something that may cause an injury, and quickly correct your form. You will not be disappointed, and I can guarantee that you will love the results!
I really enjoyed my sessions with Heather. Her workouts were challenging and provided great results - I'm already down two dress sizes after just six months of training. I'd recommend her to anybody who wants to improve their health.
Judy, Is an amazing fitness training. Very amazing, and impressive with her workout programs that she comes up with. A simple, dumbbells, and jump rope can turn into an 8 week program by Judy's 25 plus years of experience. When I joined Judy's gym, I was bought into another levee of working out that I did not knew exist, that helped me out getting into the fire department. Judy does go above and beyond for her clients, every single one of them that trains in her gym. Like I said, her programs are just that amazing, that Jillian Michaels can learn from her. That is right you read that correctly, Jillian Michaels can learn from Judy, that is how amazing the quality of going to Judy's gym is, that it is just beyond amazing. I highly recommend that everyone that is reading this to join Judy's gym, even just for 3 months and you will see a very big difference with your body for the better part.
Great intake interview and evaluation. John is friendly, knowledgeable, and a great advocate for your individual training goals and well-being.
From the beginning I knew Dani would be an exceptional trainer. She really listened to my fitness goals and then in our first session showed me how to achieve them. Weight loss, strength training and overall endurance. Two years later and I can't recommend Dani enough. Only be with her if you want serious training which is what I've received.
Mallory is amazing! She knows the body extremely well and has an incredible amount of knowledge. She is motivating and inspiring. Even though she loves crossfit, she is able to create a program for anyone. You will definitely see results when training with Mallory.
I actually met her thru a friend of mine, who was one of her close friends. I had hired several personal trainers but until Mami showed me her own training routines I was never happy. I wanted to get some good toned butt and get rid of my belly fat, after doing her routines for just 4 weeks, I started noticing my body is really rocking hot, and not only me, but all my friends and coworkers noticed the change on my body. She is a multi talented woman who can also listen to others when they need someone to talk to. I still do her routines and I could never be happier about the way I look!! Thanks, Mami!
Kelly helped me get into shape right before I became pregnant. She helped me focus on a work-out plan that fit well with my goals and what I wanted to achieve. She also customized a monthly meal plan exclusively for me and my interests. I couldn't be more happy with her dedication to push me when I needed the drill sergeant trainer, but also balance it out and be supportive when I was not feeling well or sick and needed to take things slow. Another plus factor with Kelly is that she LOVES dogs. We incorporated workouts that helped me focus on myself, without feeling guilty or losing out on time I could spend with my dog outdoors. Kelly is super professional, educated and experienced in personal training. I would recommend her to any of my closest family and friends.
LK Fitness has been a life changing experience for me. 2 years ago I started with LK Fitness and I'm healthier than I have ever been! At 51 this is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Laurie -LK Fitness genuinely cares about the individual goals and helps to work with your specific needs. I have a few limitations with my knee however Laurie makes every effort to provide me the same workouts-benefits regardless of my limitations! I highly recommend LK Fitness to anyone looking for a personal fitness trainer "who cares" about helping you and to live a healthier life style by incorporating fitness exercise that's right for you!
I have recently started training with Eddie, not the first trainer I have had, although definitely the best to date. Finding a personal trainer who makes you feel comfortable enough to reveal your biggest flaws, is most definitely a challenge. Eddie has patience, taking the time to explain and demonstrate in a comprehensive manner what YOU are doing and why. He has a serene demeanor while still being regimented and effective, paying attention to his clients needs and goals. Hands down, he masters the combination of being effective and supportive, not an easy feat but he masters it with grace.
As a 56 year old active guy who won't slow down I tend to have lot of aches and pains. I had just had quite a spill on my dirt bike and was sore. I found Terence and he responded immediately. In fact he scheduled an appointment with me that same day. I splurged for 90 minutes and was worth every second. The next day my soreness had dissipated and I was back to the gym. I am going to make this a regular thing to keep my body in check and keep moving forward. Terence knows the right pressure, the proper technique and is incredibly friendly, I look forward to many more massages from Terence.
I have tried so many weight loss programs since the birth of my children. The most I would lose would be 7, maybe 10 lbs. A friend from work referred to Lavelle. My friend, of course didn't tell me how hard he was. LOL! At first I was skeptical. However, I decided “What do I have to lose?” So I called my sister and asked her if she would join with me. She, also, had her reservations but chose to start the program with me. People used to be able to tell us apart – However, after training with LaVelle, we look more and more alike. We enjoy coming in for our weekly weigh-ins just to see how much weight we have lost. It is sort of a competition between us and both of us are winning! Thanks Lavelle! Kathryn & Katelyn
Since I moved to Thousand Oaks and started driving an hour to LA every day, I just let any exercise fall off of my calendar. Too much work to get to the gym before the drive, anxious to get home after the drive. I let myself get so out of shape, that I was afraid of injuring myself if/when I started up again. I got tired, I got chubby & irritable. Something had to change. I made a commitment, but the easiest, no-excuses commitment I could come up with: I hired a trainer to come to my home 2 mornings per week, + Saturday at his private gym. Personally Designed Fitness has turned things around for me. I am stronger, I look better, I feel better. I’m less irritable, I sleep better. When it rained all last week; I would not have been going to the gym, or done a workout app on my phone. But I knew my trainer was coming TO MY HOUSE (no excuses!) to work out, so I got out of bed, got dressed, did my workout - and as usual, felt tons better once we were done! Personally Designed Fitness is ultra-professional: on-time, focused & my trainer knows what he is doing. Every time we’ve met to workout, I’ve been on the edge of thinking the workout was a bit too much for me. But it hasn’t been. It’s been much, much more than I would have made myself do, left to my own devices, but I’ve not been hurt or injured. I just have that sore feeling that lets you know you’re not wasting your time & you’re getting stronger. I’m considering buying sessions for my husband and daughter for Christmas. We all deserve an “accountabili-buddy” to help us hit our goals!
I’m the five time winner of “The Toughest Cop Alive”. But After years and years of training competition I had suffered number of injuries the reduced my ability to perform or even to live a normal life without limping and taking excessive amounts of pain killers and anti inflammatory medications. At first i was very skeptical but he was able to diagnose and fix a lot of the movement issues I had many of which I didn’t know were present.
