Pete gave us a great starting point to start training our dog with behavioral problems. We started working on impulse control, feeding rituals, and commanding her attention in a stressful environment for our dog.
Absolutely wonderful, personalized dog training! Very knowledgeable and will help you with any issues.
We love Tammy ! We have a 2-year old Aussie with pretty serious issues regarding: charging at the door barking (scaring guests), barking at random noises, biting (yikes! but yes.. many times to even friends and family), and leash aggression. We had 2 trainers before. One was at the prestigious Cali-K9 which was like training your dog to almost be like a police dog with a lot of consequences including pulling very hard on the chain where they want his two front feet to literally be lifted ( we didn't want to do this at all .. but we trusted them because of their amazing reviews )..this caused our anxious pup to become a very anxious dog, esp. to strangers... we then went with another trainer from Pet Food Express who was purely positive reinforcement. Here, she had him locked away in the room for months without social interaction in order to try to desensitize him and slowly introduce him back to people and triggers. THIS DID NOT WORK. If anything, his habits got worse and we forgot what it was like to even have a dog anymore :( We reached a very sad point, full of tears, where we discussed the fact that we might have to give him away but we decided maybe board & train was the next step. There are articles out there saying this method is not suggested because it might not be long lasting, or maybe the dog might just listen to the trainer and not you. Anyways, we came across Tammy and at first was very hesitant. As a millennial couple both working in high-tech.. we were killing ourselves over online research. Thumbtack wasn't a service I ever used before so I trusted other sites like Yelp & Facebook which Tammy didn't have too much of a presence on :( We did a bunch of research and even paid $100 for a consultation with Lori Hamilton - but it didn't feel right.. but she was still on our radar as another top option. When we met Tammy, she seemed incredibly sweet, genuine, & honest. As she is going full-time as a dog trainer, I knew she was going to treat our dog Finn as an individual and not just a number or revenue. She truly cared about his life and happiness. Eventually we made the decision to go with Tammy, reason being is because we know not everyone is as tech-savvy and we went with social media all-stars like Cali-K9 before which didn't go well.. so we couldn't judge a trainer just based on online presence. When we got Finn back from Board & Train you could tell how much he adored her. It was crazy! When she walked away he locked his eyes and body towards her. When she comes for our trainings now, our dog throws his body on her and rubs himself missing her. This is how I know she spent a lot of time with him instead of just shipping him off, and crossing our fingers that Finn was getting the training attention he needs. Forward 2 months, Finn is not perfect but he is x10 more manageable and we know what to do if he reacts in any way. He now goes to work with my boyfriend as an office pup, we aren't scared to take him downtown, he rarely barks at the Amazon dude (this could be fixed very fast before it happens). My boyfriend and I are so happy we went with Tammy now! She is the most patient person ever and I am so excited to have her integrated in our lives. She has helped us find so much different solutions regardless if its testing individual techniques or even supplements to help with Finn's anxiety. The greatest gift she gave us is the confidence that we are a great dog owner and that we also have the greatest dog! Put time and effort in your dog & Tammy will always do the same! We are continuing to board with Tammy when we go on vacations, so our relationship will definitely continue for a long time <3 (:
Les is the best of the best when it comes to dog training. He knows his stuff and it was apparent from the way he connected with our dog in the first training session. He truly cares about each client and is committed to seeing them succeed. We saw results after the very first training session and the progress was remarkable following each session. Les comes prepared to each session with treats and training aids. He gives you "homework" to do with your dog after each session to prepare you for the next. He even follows up with you after each meeting to see how things are going. Les played a significant role in shaping our puppy into the dog he is today. I highly recommend Les for dog training, we will definitely use his services again!
Logan is a GREAT trainer for Humans!!!! His gift for handling and training my new Family member Beala (dog) is inspiring. Thank you Logan
He came to Napa and did a combined dog training lesson with my sister and I. He was very good with the dogs and got her crazy 6 month old puppy to learn to lay down within minute. I will be recommending him to anyone looking for a dog trainer.
We have had such a great experience with George and Notched to an OTCH with our fear reactive dog. Our pup has gone from barking and lunging at every person on walks and barking the entire time someone was in our home to happily running up to people to get treats and calming down within 5 minutes of someone entering our home. George's detailed training plan and support made working with Kole possible by alleviating many of his fears. We took Kole to Home Depot with us the other day and he calmly walked next to us while we picked flower pots for our yard and even let someone in an ice cream shop pet him on the head. We never thought this would have been remotely possible a year ago and we certainly couldn’t have come this far without George at Notched to an OTCH. Training a dog is a lot of work and nothing happens quickly, but the help and support George gave us was invaluable and we’ve made so much more progress than we ever thought possible. We really can’t thank them enough for helping us help Kole become a calm and relaxed pup who now sees people as treat-giving friends rather than something to be afraid of. We have been sending our dog to Susan at Nu Pawspective for about a year now. Susan is an intelligent trainer with a "dog whisperer" instinct for dogs. Our dog loves going with Susan every day and always comes home exhausted and happy. We are thankful to have someone whom we trust to care for our dog as much as Susan does.
Rusty at Pawgress dog training has been an absolutely amazing trainer for our reactive cattle dog/ border collie mix. He has really given us so much information and shined light on some new techniques and strategies! We have found it so useful to have our dog practice with his dogs and we love the feedback and guidance! His PDFs have helped us to be able to practice and apply at home in between trainings as well! We can’t thank Rusty enough for the work this far! We look forward to training every week as we see our dog (and us!) make strides!
I met Emily by chance walking our dog Stella. Stella is an American Staffordshire Terrier whom we rescued through the Peninsula Humane Society when she was 5 months old. They had found her running in and out of traffic. Stella is a sweet and loving dog, and full of lots of energy. Emily noted Stella and I walking, or I should say her pulling me as I tried to not let her pull me. Despite having her 2 years, we still didn’t have the training thing down. My partner and I had been looking for a trainer but for whatever reason, just never found the right person or took the time to jump into it. Walking with her through our neighborhood in SOMA could be a challenge, and I have to admit, kind of sucked. We were using a harness that clipped on the back. Emiliy advised that what I was doing was “literally how you train sled dogs” and advised a front lead harness. She gave me a card and made some recommendations of harnesses that I could find on line. The next day, I went and got a front lead harness and put it on Stella. OMG. Like a different dog. She wasn’t pulling and would actually walk beside me. I took a video and emailed my partner, and said “You won’t believe it!”. I called Emily and we hired her that day. The changes that we have seen in Stella have been unbelievable. We live in SOMA and went from a pulling dog who would bark at skateboarders, jump up on little kids, and eat everything on the ground (including homeless pooh – gross!) to a dog who is interactive with us, plays agility games (jumping up or standing on hydrants for a treat), backing up from children and sitting calmly for attention, totally ignoring skateboarders, and leaving homeless pooh and other things where they belong, on the ground. I am amazed that this is the same dog. What I love the most about Emily and her training is that her techniques are about management and engaging your dog. Stella is Stella. My partner and I don’t believe in shock collars, aggressive management or training your dog into submission. The first part of her life was hard enough, we want a relationship with our dog of trust and love. Emily understands and advocates this theory. Stella is who she is. She is still the happy, rambunctious, energetic dog who loves life, people, and other dogs. What Emily showed us is how to channel that energy into productive and fun ways of expression. The training has really built a closer bond with Stella and she is very focused on us as we walk. The walks have actually become really fun. The true test came last week up in Santa Rosa where we have a home in the country. Stella goes crazy over the wildlife (turkey, deer, rabbits, etc). She will often try to get out and chase them. A front door was inadvertently left open and Stella escaped from our home and ran down the driveway, near the cow pasture. This is a dangerous spot and she has run under the fence and chased the cows in the past. My partner said, “back up” from about 200 yards away. She stopped, turned, came running back up the driveway and sat at us feet. Unbelieveable. I highly recommend Emily! The money and time was worth the improved quality of life that we have with our family member, Stella.
Emily is fantastic! She began working with our 6 month old weim only 4 weeks ago, and he is already a different dog. He has learned to be better on the leash, developing better response to commands such as sit and stay. Emily truly listens to the needs of the family and is very responsive to the individual dog needs. She is dependable, responsible and when you meet her, you can just feel her passion and dedication to puppy training. She sent us regular daily updates about our puppy's progress, including video clips. When we first started, our puppy was shy of other dogs, but after only 2 weeks, he was braver and more assertive in the dog park with other pets. Emily is a pleasure to work with and we have just signed up for another 4 weeks of training to continue building on the progress our doggies has made. She is down to earth and caring. She is also not afraid to say when something isn't working, which we truly appreciated. Our dog didn't like the halti leash, so after a couple of weeks of training, Emily came up with a different leash option and was very honest about the reasons for the change. It's refreshing to work with such a professional. Thank you, Emily, for all your dedication and hard work!
Angela is a fun, quirky lady who really cares about your pup. My little pupper, Rufus, needed a haircut badly, but I could not get an appointment this week or drop him off to his regular groomer in the Fillmore next week. Angela made a house call yesterday and lugged all her gear to my apartment to give my dog a bath and haircut. I offered to help her since she went out of her way and didn’t have her regular assistant with her (also, it would have taken forever!) and let me tell you, if “assistant” grooming is that hard I can only imagine how exhausting the actual grooming is! With me helping her it took a little over 2 hours and it’s not like she took breaks or dragged anything on – my dog, a 22 pound Shih-Poo - took about 2 hours and 25 minutes for: nails, ears, glands, bathing, blow drying and a haircut. She really gets in there and makes sure the paws are on point. She is meticulous in her method and takes the time to assess what the best course of action is for your dog’s haircut. She switches blades often, making sure that she can get rid of matted fur without compromising your dog’s look or safety. Angela was super caring with Rufus, much like how I act with him. I would definitely recommend her skills!
Maj is kind, a good listener, and a deeply empathetic human being. She also happens to use those skills as an excellent dog and dog-human trainer:) She’s prompt, responsive and pretty darn reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking to solve a dog issue or just deepen their existing relationship with their animals. Really, there should be more stars to give her:)))))
Krystal responded to my inquiry right away and has been flexible about my very special needs dog (old and set in his ways). I'm excited to work with 4 Paws.
Stella not only watched my puppy but trained him this past week! She has saved my life with the potty training and it only took her a few days!!! She is very knowledgeable when it comes to puppies. Everything went smoothly! I was so happy to get updates and pictures of him everyday. I'll be using her again for sure.
Gail has been walking our dog Val for about 6-7 months now and she is fantastic! I can't say enough about Gail's attentiveness, reliability, and great communication. We have had previous dog walkers an Gail is by far the best. She frequently sends pictures or videos of the day's walk, which is really thoughtful. She is also very flexible and works with us and our schedule. We originally had Gail come a few days a week, but we are so happy she now comes Monday through Friday. It's clear she really cares about the dogs she works with and wants to make sure they're happy. If you're looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and thoughtful dog walker, contact Gail!
Heather helped with obedience training my beagle, who is very stubborn. They did verbal commands, leash training, house training and manners, and Heather has had a lasting positive influence on my dog. She is very professional and thorough, and she brings real experience and methodology to create a personalized training outline, which helps maintain the behaviors. 10/10, would recommend again.
Audrey is the best. Very professional, great communication, and great doggy care! If you are are in need of a pet sitter, don't hesitate to give her a call. My dogs are like my children and I trust her with them completely!
He is great with both my dogs who can be a handful at times. Patrick also went out of his way to help my dog Panduh during emergency eye surgery. I highly recommend him for training and any boarding needs!
We offer off leash dog walking excursion at our private 8 acre ranch
Stoakly, had issues with leash pulling, attentiveness and general obedience. After working with Keynoe with his 3 week transformative program, Stoakly is a completely different dog! Listens to basic commands when we walk and is so much calmer. We even had the opportunity to hang out with other dogs at the local park - the dogs got along so well and Keynoe managed all their behaviors at once. I was really impressed by how easy Keynoe is to work with, his professionalism and flexibility when working with me and Stoakly 1:1. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for help with training and even if you just want a fun and reliable friend for your dog.
