My 11 year old daughter has been taking violin lessons with Mindy for about 3 months. She is enjoying her lessons and she is making excellent progress. Recently she played violin onstage with Mindy at a recital. I was very proud of her.
I highly recommend Ilana. I contacted Ilana just a few weeks before our wedding and asked for some songs which were not regular for weddings. She not only said yes to all of our songs and found us a cellist quickly, but was also responsive to discuss all the details to make sure the performance go well. At the wedding, they arrived early and our guests loved their music! My husband and I feel very grateful for their wonderful presence at our wedding!
I am a bass player who has always played guitar here and there but nothing too serious, and about a year ago decided I really want to know the fundשmentals of guitar. A friend recommended Jacob Light, whom I've heard play before in local bands, and I decided to take the chance. I wasn't dissapointed to say the least. Jacob is a really down to earth guy who immediately understood my musical style and focused mainly on what I wanted to know, unlike other teachers I've had experience with. Even so, he knew what subjects to insist I learn, like improvisation. and scales. all this was done in a friendly, calm, cool yet persistent atmosphere which is just the right blend for learning, in my opinion.Soon enough I started feeling I really understand guitar, and this new kno'ledge even helped me with my bass guitar playing. Ive been taking guitar lessons with Jacon for 6 months and the only downdise I can think of is the fact he moved to California, otherwise I would have still take lessons from him, without a doubt.
Very happy that I found Larisa! She is outstanding professional, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. She pay a lot of attention to the technique of playing violin that is very important. My son is really enjoying violin lessons with Larisa.
I wasn't fortunate to have Madison teach me violin for several years. In that time she was patient and innovative, teaching me how to properly play with good sound and technique. I would fully reccomend her to anybody who has a love of music and a desire to learn violin.
My daughter has been taking piano and violin lessons from Paul. The piano lessons since age 9 for almost 2 years now, and the violin lessons for a few months now to augment the strings music instruction at her school. He was referred by a family in our neighborhood, and he was open to trial lessons before completely signing on. He goes into music appreciation and history along with his teaching. We have also enjoyed a few recitals of his students along the way - there are three of these each year in student homes, and the anticipation of an upcoming recital is good motivation for the student to practice. For one of these recitals, Paul wrote the sheet music for a popular song that my daughter chose, since there wasn't one readily available. So he goes out of his way to customize the teaching. My daughter has progressed well, and enjoys the experience. I definitely recommend Paul.
Irena is a spectacular teacher and is really accommodating to all of her students. She works with them to break down difficult pieces and make them easy. She can take someone's skills to the next level and always brings her 100% to each lesson. Most importantly, she teaches each student to really feel for the music and love it.
Michele is a wonderful teacher! I am taking violin lessons after several years of not playing and she is very encouraging. After years of playing classical music, I am enjoying taking lessons to explore other styles of music, such as folk music. She has an extensive background that allows for this kind of exploration.
There is an emphasis of motion freedom and connection to spirit from the beginning.
I began receiving lessons from Miss Kathleen when I was in the 4th grade. She has been my private tutor for the past 8 years, and we only recently stopped having lessons due to her move. She has played a very big role in becoming the musician I am today. With her help and instruction, I participate in my school's highest orchestra, in the Capitol Symphonic Youth Orchestra, and in events such as District Orchestra. She has always inspired and encouraged me to pursue my music related aspirations and, because of that, I plan on studying music in college and pursue it as a career. I can't imagine what I would have done with out her. Over the years of lessons, she has become more than just a teacher. She is my close friend who I continue to go to for advice.
Carolyn is an excellent teacher. Our 5 year old had been asking for a violin and lessons for a long time so we decided to give it a try for her and our 8 year-old. We found Carolyn on Thumbtack and she came to our house to meet the girls and give them an introductory lesson - for free! Our 5 year-old is flighty. Focus and practice are concepts she's not really on-board with. I expected that she'd be frustrating for any teacher to deal with. When we met Carolyn, we knew straight away that she would be a great fit. We planned for one month of lessons, and then we would assess the feasibility of continuing. By now, we've had two months and we're heading into our third. Carolyn is an excellent and patient teacher, understanding of little girls and their short attention span. She makes the lesson fun and interesting and tailors her approach to students. She is even teaching them pieces of the theme music from their favorite video game! She looks for ways to keep them engaged and motivated and she knows how to work with each of the girls as individuals who have very different personalities and temperaments. She explains everything well - both to the children and to the parents (I'm completely novice to the violin, and know almost nothing about learning to play an instrument). All-in, I can't recommend Carolyn highly enough.
Julie Mae is a good violin teacher. I've learned a lot from her. She's very good in teaching her students the right techniques in achieving good intonation and learning how to play the music the right way.

Here is a little about my teaching: There are two approaches we can take to your lessons: hobbyist or more serious. If you are looking to learn a musical instrument as a hobby, we will focus on basic technique and note reading while building some beginning repertoire. For those wishing to pursue music more seriously, I believe in a strong foundation of technique, music theory, and ear training as well as building a repertoire that will serve you well for future auditions. I also believe it is important to learn to practice efficiently and be unafraid to explore your musical ideas. If you aren't quite sure where you want your musical journey will take you, we will work together to figure out what works best for you. I am currently a San Francisco based professional violist with a background in both violin and viola performance. I graduated from the Juilliard Pre College and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and my primary musical activity right now is being the violist in the San Francisco based Friction Quartet. Though I personally started violin lessons at a young age, I strongly believe that any age can be the right age to learn a musical instrument. I am available to teach at my house in the Sunset, come to your apartment or workplace, or we can meet at a music studio near you. In addition, maintaining a flexible schedule is important to me as I understand that your schedule may change week to week. Lessons are offered semiweekly, weekly, or every other week. How often we schedule lessons is up to you. I offer the following pricing: * 30 minutes - $35 * 45 minutes - $50 * 60 minutes - $60 Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
