One and a half years ago I found myself in a place I thought I would never be: 40 pounds over weight and very discouraged. I had spent the previous year gaining and loosing the same 5 pounds. At this time I received a gift of Personal Training with Gabe from my daughter. I was excited, even filled with hope but feeling very self conscience and physically unsure of myself. Immediately Gabe was reassuring and encouraging. As we trained my self conscienceness turned into a strong drive to succeed at loosing weight and gaining strength. Because of training with Gabe I have accomplished both. I have lost 33 pounds and gained a lot of muscle strength which has produced confidence. Last Spring Gabe asked me if I would like to train to run a 5k. He said I was ready if I wanted to try it. His suggestion got me to "think outside of my box" and I said yes. And I did it, I ran my first 5K at age 52. Something I thought I could never do. The whole experience was very freeing and taught me much. I love training. It keeps me disciplined and motivated. And I trust Gabe to have my best interest in mind. My next goal is to lose 10 more pounds while continuing to build strength. I am going to climb Mt. Shasta this Summer. I know Gabe will help me accomplish these new goals through training, nutrition counseling and supplement suggestions.
I had one workout session with BJ Daniels. He listened to what type of workout I wanted to do along with intensity, focusing on strength training. He also included a stretch at the end of the session. Informed of available supplements based on my sport that I play and what would help pre and post during workouts, practices and game. Thanks BJ!
Harold is an amazing personal trainer. He will keep you engaged during your workouts and goes the extra step to keep your motivation up, when he isn't training you. Harold also gives great nutritional advice - his recommendations and creativity with meals made my whole 28 week program easy... And I mean LITERALLY easy. I never felt like I was too restricted with my meals! Overall, a personal trainer is supposed to teach you how to train and guide you along the way as you progress... But if you want a trainer that can turn your regular average Joe into an athlete, Harold is the man for the job. Book him. You won't regret it. I have been training with Vaz for over a year now. Before starting with Fair Oaks Personal Training I can honestly say I never had an exercise program that I stuck with. Being challenged with excess weight, arthritis, and joint damage, my goal is to continued to get healthier. I have dropped #'s but more importantly I have built muscle mass. Vaz has made me feel comfortable and valued from the beginning. Exercise programs are customized, pushing me hard. However I have never felt overwhelmed to the point of quitting, I have felt supported. If something seems too much for me, we discuss and routines are adjusted or reasons explained on why it is important to do what is being asked. The best things about the results from this last year is I have more self-confidence, I now can walk with almost no pain, I can go up and downs stairs without running out of breath, and I am once again strong enough to carry groceries in from the car. Outstanding! I had the extremely good fortune to meet Tyrone Duckett 8 months before I retired. I spent most of my career at a desk and, over the previous 15-20 years, had put on some extra pounds and neglected my fitness. Put another way, I was a unfit 65 year old slug muffin. I was unsure if my 65 year old body would respond to training or whether I would have the mettle and fortitude to commit to diet and regular workouts. At the time I started, I was recovering from major ankle reconstruction surgery and prostate cancer. My cancer was in remission after a prostatectomy, radiation, and androgen deprivation hormone therapy; my ankle was stiffer than before reconstruction. Tyrone got me started on a year long, customized cardio and strength training program, taking into account both my age and existing physical condition. We started out slow, never doing more than my neglected body could handle, but at the same time Tyrone pushed me hard enough to make me sweat at every training session. Tyrone has a firm, but encouraging attitude towards training. We did a lot of joking and smack talk about our favorite sports teams during my training sessions. I was surprised at the immediate results. Over the one year training, I dropped 60 pounds, reduced my waist size by eight inches and was able to "flex my guns" (generally performed to intimidate other males and impress females) for the first time in many, many years. My training with Tyrone not only helped me rebuild my body, but also convinced me that our bodies are amazing machines that, with a little work and commitment, can stay tuned and healthy no matter your age or physical condition. I was very pleased about my training session with Lily. I've wanted to get in shape and start bulking up for a long time now. I never really had the motivation or knowledge to needed to properly gain weight in a healthy way. Not only do you get personal training but you also get some good advice about what not to eat and what to eat which is worth so much. Lily has the experience and knowledge to help anyone meet their fitness goals with reasonable concise planning and at a fair price. I can't say enough about the uniqueness and exceptional quality of Luis's services. He has helped me discover at age 59 the capacity to build strength and fitness I didn't have at 30. Luis is attentive to your goals, a top-notch trainer, and a good guy to boot. I have never enjoyed working out, and always felt like I was faking my way through a typical gym workout on my own. I would do maybe half-hour on the stationery bike, a tour through the circuit, but I'd leave the gym not feeling significantly different than when I walked in. Not so training with Luis! He takes you to places that you will NEVER take yourself, pushing you to the max. Warning: Not for the faint of heart or those not willing to work to get the physique and health that you not only want but deserve!
I absolutely love everyone at Aspire Strength and Wellness. Everyone is welcoming and doesn't make you feel like they are judging you for your lack of experience. There's a ton of support from not just the trainers but from the clients as well. All in all I loved going to ASW and can't wait until I return!

In January I discovered Vlad Teleyuev, a CPT @ Anytime Fitness. With his expert training, encouragement and support I lost over 40 pounds and 37 inches from my body. I no longer have knee pain or back pain and am stronger than I have been in years!
Nsima is seriously a legit GREAT trainer. Don't let his stern appearance fool you, he is a friendly giant lol. I assure you he is 100% NATURAL. He works really hard for what he wants and it shows. He knows what he is doing and knows what is he talking about, very KNOWLEDGEABLE for sure! He is all about FORM, FORM, FORM and of course nutrition! I 100% completely recommend him whether you are trying to lose weight, gain weight, tone, or compete in shows. He is very supportive and understanding. He is also very flexible. If something comes up and you can't make a session, he is very lenient as long as you give him at least a 24hr notice. He provides a breakdown of macros (i like his program because you can pretty much eat whatever you want as long as it fits your macros numbers), what it means in regards to your body and how each workout benefits each muscle group. He provides workout regiments catered to his gym and as well as other commercial gyms if you can't make it to the gym that he trains at. Another thing about Nsima is that he is not like most personal trainers-he talks to you with respect and patience and does not think he is above you. He actually cares about your gains and losses and will also go over what it is that is preventing you from both. He pushes you to do better in each workout and if you can't, no problem! He will adjust the workout to what you can do so there is no pressure of "failing" with him. He rather you do it safely in correct form at a lighter weight and less reps/sets than do heavy weights at an incorrect form. He gives great advice and tips generously and is easily accessible via phone, email, and/or in person. He is also budget friendly. His rates for in person training and online training is WAY cheaper than most trainers who charge around $100+ for a 1 HOUR session only. I was training with him for about 3-4 months and saw a noticeable change in my problematic areas such as abs and triceps. If it weren't for such a busy schedule this year I would still be with him. I cannot wait until I can train with him again! =)
Alex has been my awesome coach at ISC for about a year and a half. He is extremely supportive in my efforts at the gym and always encourages me to push my limits. I feel like he truly cares about my success at the gym; not because it's his job, but because he genuinely cares about his clients. He gives clients personalized attention which often feels like having a personal trainer. I have noticed a significant improvement in my physical abilities since working with Alex at ISC. My half marathon time has improved, recovery time is less...and that's even with doing less training runs to make time for the gym. Alex was right, the strength training does help (a lot!). Alex also offers personalized nutrition advice. I'm sure it's great advice, but I like food way too much to follow it. I know if I did I would see even better results. Like most things in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Alex will give you the tools you need to succeed, but you need to use them if you want to be successful.
Miranda is amazing! Her expertise in fitness is by far the best I've experienced. She is great at communicating and always on time or ahead of schedule. She is very passionate about fitness and brings exceptional value to the fitness training programs she offers. I've learned so much in so little time about fitness and nutrition. I have been training with Michaela now for about a year and a half at Custom Health and Fitness in Napa. We are focusing on core and upper body strength. Michaela is fun yet firm to have as a personal trainer. She actively listens to me, encourages me and will push me when I need it. I have visual results in my muscle definition, increased strength in my arms and proven core improvements resulting in greater activity from my bi-weekly sessions with Michaela. She is knowledgeable with nutrition and has encouraged me to keep the nutritional aspect of my health in the for front of my mind. "One can not out train bad nutrition etc..."
I have been training with Chris for about a year and a half and I genuinely appreciate his approach and attitude about fitness. Key highlights: 1) He is a success story himself. Just ask for a photo from 10 years ago and you will be amazed. That means he knows better than anyone how challenging it can be to reach your goals. 2) He's thoughtful about individualizing a plan that works for you, and is geared towards getting the results you want. 3) Chris will help you in your overall fitness routine, even outside of personal training. This means creating cardio routines, meal plans, and making sure to keep you on track. 4) He tries to be as accommodating as possible to schedules, meaning he trains in the wee hours of the morning into the evening! Hope this is helpful, give training with Chris a shot. I am so glad that I did!
This is a GREAT camp! Josh and Anthony are excellent trainers and they keep the all women class motivated and fun! There are new routines each camp and the one hour class goes by really fast. This is a great way to get fit!
When I found Tom, I was training on my own and eating "clean" for over a year. I hit a plateau. All my exercises were from what I saw others doing at the gym but I had no idea what I was actually working out. Although I was losing weight, I wasn't seeing the definition I wanted. When I first start a year ago, I wanted to lose weight, so I was eating very little calories. I needed someone to help me figure out how to maintain the size I was at but increase my strength and muscles. Tom listened carefully to my needs and quickly pointed out what I was doing correctly and then had great suggestions for what I needed to change. He knew I wanted to stop losing weight, but also I didn't want to gain weight. He came up with a meal plan for me and also some ideas on how to tweak some of the training foods I was regularly eating in order to make me more efficient. Tom sends me video examples of my workouts each day. Not only does he walk me through each move, he explains what muscle I am targeting. When I am frustrated, he is patient and listens. He gives amazing advice and truly cares about my progress. I recommend Tom because he is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated to his clients. He truly wants you to succeed in your goals and you know he's there with you the whole way.
