David came to our place on time and coordination was smooth too. He helped me bring the new toilet to the third floor. Most of the installation went smooth, except the seat design was not good and we ended trying to figure out why it's still moving when the bolts were tight. He was patient enough to try few different time by unscrewing and putting back the entire seat. My current water supply line was short, although he tried really hard use the current one, it didn't fit. Fortunately, he had one on him and he used that one instead ($5). He also came back all the way from the garage (we're on third floor), to make sure assure that the new water level setting was to my liking, when I shared that flush didn't perform as expected. Unfortunately his truck didn't clear my garage clearance, so he had to haul away the old toilet by hand (super heavy as you can imagine) across a long condo garage. Solid guy, great attitude.
Arisel did a wonderful job! He was reasonably priced, very knowledgeable about the task at hand. We hired him for another job on the spot when another project came up. He did so well that the owner of the building who is also getting some construction done wants his contact info. Awesome experience!
Cruz did a good job of trouble shooting a difficult problem with a door needed in an old building. The door frame was not square, but Cruz came up with a way to make it work, including finding parts! He also took care of a number of smaller items around the house. I would use Cruz again!
Ricardo is incredibly hardworking and dedicated. He's my go to guy for any house project. Just recently he did a great job on a flatscreen wall mount for me. Highly recommend him!
Matthew did an incredible job on our backyard staircase. He was an absolute delight to work with and I would gladly hire him again in the future.
We are so happy with the work Nick did for us. He was easy to get in touch with, always communicated clearly, and explained the work he would need to do. He was on time and when the job looked like it would take a bit longer, he worked with our schedule. We live in an old building and weren't sure what surprises would be lurking in our wiring. Nick provided solutions, not excuses when any complications came up in the work to be done. We would definitely recommend him for any lighting installation job.
Noel is honest and straight forward. He is unlicensed, but has experience building fences. If you are in a hurry he may not be your guy, because he works several jobs at a time. It took over a month to get my fence built.
We have been updating a pretty poorly maintained house built in 1925 ourselves for the last 5 months. We moved and rebuilt closets in the bedrooms and we had Derrick install the doors for us. I have to say in this whole experience so far and all the people we have hired to help us along the way Derrick was by far the most kind, trustworthy, and professional. He did a PERFECT job and worked extremely fast o the work was very reasonable since he charges by the hour. Both doors were done in less than a days work. Not a single complaint. We will have him back for sure to do the other doors in the house. He's the BEST!!!!! Do not hesitate to hire him!!!
Jasper did a great job with installing floating shelves in our kitchen and living room. They look like they were intentionally built into the house and fit snugly against the walls and fireplace.
Hector worked on 2 landings at my apartment building, framing and replacing joists. He did an excellent job. He was punctual, followed directions and did a great job. I would recommend Hector.
Richard did a fantastic job building our fence. It looks amazing. Quality contractor, very trustworthy.
I manage multiple apartment building across the bay area and I have hired Peter multiple times to work on projects both large and small, from demolition and framing to minor plumbing fixes. He has been on time and has performed each task to my satisfaction. Pricing-wise, he has been well within budget. He communicates well both on the phone and through text messages, which is great given my busy schedule. I look forward to working with Peter for years to come.
Did a great job building a redwood fence on a slope. Have some more work coming up.
A variety of handyman jobs around the house including: re-caulking windows, replacing a baseboard, and patching a hole in the ceiling. Also removed a few items for the junk yard.
Ryan's energy and efficiency made the project get completed quickly. He did a great job building 3 short stair railings on the deck and garage steps. I would hire him again for small building projects. Very friendly and the family dog liked him and didn't bark at him like she usually does with strangers! Trustworthy and helpful.
We had Ryan over yesterday to repair 3 interior doors in a very old and actually historic San Franciscan Victorian house. In addition to the three interior doors, Ryan painted the front door which had also just been replaced. His attention to detail was great, there were constant adjustments to make sure everything fit, latched, matched, didn't drag, looked great, etc. His response was prompt, he replied almost immediately and was available to start the very next day. He came prepared for the job, from start to finish. Ryan is very up front and fair in terms of compensation. You will have zero issue with the transparency and fairness of his bids. It should also be noted that this is a very old building. The areas where the door hinges connected to the wall/door frame were extremely dilapidated, the wood was old and and over drilled. It was like putty. But Ryan rocked it. Not only did Ryan pay close attention to the style of the Victorian building and matched the details perfectly, his finished product was seamless. You can't even tell that work had been done. There wasn't even dust on the floor. It was legit, honest good work. 100% recommend.
I hired CFI Construction to frame a new 501 sq ft building on our property to be used as a sewing studio. Today, they started and finished framing the walls, and enclosing the entire building with shear panels. Next week, when the trusses arrive, they are going to install them and install roof shearing. I learned of CFI two days ago on Thumbtack. Having observed their work today, I feel like the A team just fell out of the sky into my project. They are phenomenal in every respect. Their work, honesty, and work ethic are models for the construction industry. They have years of experience framing large projects, both residential and commercial. I was humbled that they chose to work on my project. They are not solely a framing company. They can build a building from start to finish, I just happened to hire them for framing. Having enjoyed today's experience, I'm going to use them for more phases of our project. Both the owner of the company (Steve) and one of his sons (Drew) were on site the entire day, as well as their crew of 5 framers. I wanted to write this review now, even though they still have trusses to install and the front porch to frame, because I want other users of Thumbtack to have the same benefit of a 1st class, licensed, professional construction company, as I did today. I strongly recommend that you seek out CFI Construction for your projects. They are the real deal. Thank you Steve and Drew.
Dave has been fantastic to work with and I have called him many times over the years. He has done everything from assembling my Ikea furniture (and improving with wall anchors) to designing and building the most beautiful custom built-in bed frame with a hand carved oak tree design in the backboard, bookshelves and a rolling kitchen island with custom butcherblock top and hidden knife drawer for my set of Japanese knives.
Jomar was quick to respond and was very professional. He was honest in his assessment and did a great job.
Having just moved into a house on the start of summer, my wife and I found it was unbearably hot on hot days, but really just in one room with a vaulted ceiling: the parts of the house covered by the regular, narrow attic were much cooler. I'd been looking into all house fans, but was concerned that they would not solve the problem in my house because they must be placed in the parts of the house without the heat problem and try to draw hot air down and around corners to reach its intake. I found a device made by a Massachusetts company, Tamarack Technologies, which would directly vent to the outside of the house and close shut at R10 insulation level when not in use. This seemed like the way to go. After failed attempts to get one-trick-pony whole house fan companies to step outside their boxes, I just ordered the unit so that now I could just go on Thumbtack and say "install this unit". Separately I got a quote from the company who last serviced the roof on the building, but the estimator basically told me they weren't interested in the project. Kasra at Sustainable Roofing Solutions was a breath of fresh air. Trained as an architect and an expert in passively efficient building designs, he listened and said I was spot on with my concerns about the air flow. He gave me good ideas about more common solutions to this problem - in particular suggesting a powered skylight. I very nearly returned the unit and went with his suggestion - until we discovered that the specific roof design of the house made a skylight less suitable. But once we had determined that was a dead end, I got enthusiastic, professional and capable work. All in all, the project came in on time and budget. I'm very satisfied with the outcome, and it has definitely made my home livable on hot days and the evenings after.
Great contractor. These guys were working on our house for a few months and did a huge amount of work. Built an addition to the house, built a new bathroom, remodel kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, replaced all plumbing, sewers, gas lines, windows, hardwood flooring - everything. During all construction period Aldo was super responsive, helped a lot with his experience in materials and design, always managed his team to do work on time and with great quality. One thing that I'd like to point out specifically - his estimates were always detailed and accurate and he never asked for extra expenses. We're living in our house for almost a year now and we're happy that we worked on it with this guy, he is a perfect example of highly motivated professional who can do any complex construction project with pace, great quality and within budget. I would highly recommend to hire him if you want your home improvement to become a great experience for you and your family.
