Stefan Zuckut says, "Roy is very responsive and knowledgeable relating to home networking and PCs. In one instance, he did a great job getting my new laptop going. It was very smooth for me as all functionality, bookmarks, and files were transferred by Roy. In another instance, he bridged out ATT router (which is weak) and connected our old Linksys router. So now we use ATT fibre with our Linksys router, which worked very well for us when we had Comcast. Roy is also very good at providing additional advice and insight relating to our home computing operations (we have 4 family members which may be simultaneously using the internet heavily, especially during the work day). Last but not least, Roy's rates are very reasonable."See more

Roger W. says, "Two remodels had left the Cat 5, Cat 5E, and Cat 6 wiring in a friend's house a complete mystery. They had tried to patch together a solution by eventual putting 11 Eeros and Eero beacons all over their house--but it was causing network interference and slowing down responsive. I called Byron and he set up an appointment three days later. I told him about the A/V Closet chaos--and how there appeared to RJ45 jacks for internet service in locations all over the house that weren't being used. He showed up with phone calls and texts 4 times to warn me that Pride traffic was delaying his arrival in Napa--Then went to work. He diligently traced lost-lost wires to their destinations; he puzzled out completely patched together unlabeled wire bird nests made worse by two remodels---and did it all professionally and with a smile. He diagnosed a slow hard-wired connection (limited to 100 GB) by figuring out that the in the wall wiring must have been only Cat 5--Some mysteries we never did solve but that was on the previously remodeling job, not Byron. I was glad to have Tech4U/him on the job--and look forward to having him help me again."See more

Job : wire Ethernet to every room from a single point in a house built in the 50s. Frank went the extra mile to make everything tidy. He has a hard job making data wiring work right: with outlets conveniently positioned, and also be as close to invisible as possible, with minimal impact on your walls. They were not equipped to run residential wiring. Installers need equipment such as a flex bit to drill holes to run cables between floors. Update 9/9/2022: I might as well add some additional details to refute some of their points. First, they stated I didn't show them videos of my home as if it was some obstacle. We agreed it wasn't needed as I have an attic and they would have to run cables 2 floors down. You'd need a drill to go between floors and their tech said his flex bit was on order. You're going to have numerous fire breaks along the way and need a way to drill multiple holes through the wall. Also, during the our initial call I asked if they would "certify" the drops. They said yes. Their contractor only brought out a wire mapper. Certifying verifies the performance of the drop - wire mapping just checks continuity and won't tell you anything about the quality of the drop. My plan was to move some equipment from my home office to my garage. Since they could not do that, I said well, at least run a cable 15 in the ceiling so I can move an access point there for better coverage which would be a TEMPORARY fix until i ran the wires. Then we decided a 2nd drop to my printer would be a good idea. Their contractor could not run that and suggested opening up the wall to do it. So their response makes it sound like I was unreasonable because I wouldn't open the wall up... for a temporary wire drop! I have 25+ years experience in IT. I have performed/managed dozens of wiring projects (everything from token ring to ethernet to fiber) for buildings with hundreds of drops, server rooms, and wiring closets. I hired the vendor because I didn't feel like walking through my attic and have numerous other home improvement projects I am working on. Unfortunately, I had to do the wiring myself. It took approximately 45 minutes. Xfinity had already opened a very large path between floors the so I fished my wiring down that existing path. It got stuck at one point, but I own a bore scope so I used that as well as some fish tape w/magnetic components to guide the line. I also own a cable certifier and verified the speed of my drops. It was not difficult with the right tools.

Working with Frank on our project was an absolute pleasure. We did whole home camera installation (PoE) and whole home Ethernet installation including multiple ceiling-mounted APs, network drops, and teminating connections in different places in the building. Frank was dilligent in assessing the site and determining the optimal method to run the wires, minimising the amount of holes and cuts in the wall and ceiling (there will always be some!). He was also very flexible in accomodating our ever-changing schedule and was able to split the project into two phases. Frank's pricing is also extremely fair and competitive compared to others. I would not think twice about hiring him again for future network and AV needs and I would highly recommend him to anyone in the Bay Area needing quality network installation in their home. It is always worth the investment in hardwire installations and partnering with Frank made this so easy to achieve.

Doug was an exceptional partner and we would recommend him without hesitation. Our issues: 2 of our HDMI cables failed that were in the walls between rooms and our electrician (who wired our house for networking, smart cameras, sound and video) left a disorganized mess of cabling such that our media cabinet couldn’t be moved without screwing things up. We got a bunch of responses on Thumbtack - some from people wanting to charge 4-5x what Doug did and in the process, get us to buy much more expensive equipment than we needed or was called for. Doug was that rare exceptional partner that helped us get to a great solution (video over Ethernet boxes from Amazon) and was willing to give us a fixed price for the labor to install, configure and organize everything. He showed up when he said he would and on time, didn’t balk when the cable organizing work turned out to be way more hours than expected and completed the job with a high degree of quality and professionalism. He didn’t demand more money, but we still paid him more than the initially agreed upon price to be fair and still feel like we got great value. Beyond the above,, he’s a super friendly great guy to boot.
