Albert did a phenomenal job with my wedding video! He was also a delight to work with! He was so patient and worked ever so hard (my wedding was a 12 hour event!) I think the hardest part for him was editing the video and making sure all the highlights I wanted were included in my video. He did not disappoint! I got every clip I wanted, and he incorporated all my favorite music and did everything I had requested. It's been a year since my wedding and recently watched the video again and all the best memories were captured! Thank you Albert for being the most responsive, patient person to work with and developing a quality wedding video that my husband and I (and now our daughter) will always enjoy!!!!

Lawrence Gerald always got back to me quickly. Our 50th wedding anniversary celebration took place at Embassy Suites, Milpitas, CA His photos were very clear, and he was easy to work with. He also added special effects to some of the unique photos. He was at the event from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. His fee was reasonable for the quality of work and number of pictures he took. I would definitely recommend Larry as a photographer for any event.

Michael is, hands down, the best photographer I've ever worked with and one of my top 3 favorite vendors for my wedding. He did an amazing job on our wedding photos and was so fun and flexible to work with. Plus, he's a really fun, kind, and interesting person. I cannot begin to say enough good things about him and his work - just hire Michael and you will be very pleased with the results. I already recommended Michael to my friend who is getting married in 2019 - that's how much we love him. I am terrible at being in photos (and consequently, hate being in photos) - my engagement photos (with a different person, not Michael) were meh, but my wedding photos that Michael did for me are wonderful! He made everyone look fantastic - my grandmom, me, my husband, our bridal party, parents, guests, everyone! His photojournalist style comes through in his work and his whole approach to capturing your day. As my husband and I were browsing our images, we both commented how impressed we were that we didn't notice Michael moving around during the ceremony, yet he seemed to somehow capture every different view without any assistant helping him. I follow Michael on Instagram too, so I know his work is consistently fantastic! If you are considering hiring Michael, just do it! You'll be thrilled with the results :)

DJ Stallion is amazing..from coming early, to prompting the wedding at key points, to announcing the wedding party- he was never off point. His lights were great (go for the extra light package trust me!!) From reading the guests and knowing when to pick up or slow down the pace of the songs- DJ Stallion is by far the best DJ I have ever used. (We through a lot of parties!) He incorporated our music (for a variety of age groups), his music and was overall just great. I highly recommend him for any party.

Finding wedding photography and videography was so hard and not to mention expensive. A friend told me about thumbtack, so I figured I'll give it a try and am sure glad I did. Shelia was so helpful and very informative about everything. She is so professional at all times . I told her my budget and she stuck rite to it and threw in some extra things for me. She offers beautiful engagement photos which turned out beautiful. We went to the Japanese Tea Garden in Harward , CA, and it was absloutely beautiful. On the day Of our wedding Shelia and Pam Were there early. They got pictures of the wedding set up, tables , flowers, cake, etc.. Shelia got pictures of everything I asked for. From the beginning to the end. And the most important she got some great shots of all the kids before they got all dirty it was beautiful. After the wedding Shelia got back to me in a week with all the pictures we had to pick threw, once we made our choices she put them in a beautiful album and sent them rite out us. I would recommend Shelia services to anyone looking for a professional and hard working photographer who takes pride in her work and making sure your needs are met on your special day. Thanks Shelia It turly was a pleasure! Sincerely Mr. & Mrs. De'Monta & Yolanda Hichks

Out of all our wedding vendors, Rev. Saundra was the one we enjoyed working with the most. She is so quick to respond to emails and was really helpful in getting our wedding license questions answered. We are not a religious couple and weren't sure of the rituals to include in our ceremony so Saundra provided us with a bunch of options. We decided on doing a rose ceremony for our mothers and she suggested to keep it a surprise until the actual ceremony. Words simply cannot describe the beautiful ceremony Rev. Saundra administered on our wedding day. Her words were poetic and touching and she highlighted a lot of special details about our relationship which came from a questionnaire she sent us months before. The rose ceremony was one of our favorite parts -- our mothers were so deeply moved. Needless to say a lot of laughter and happy tears were shared during our ceremony. Our guests raved about the intimacy and meaning the ceremony brought to the table. Saundra was able to really make it unique and all about us.

Rob was excellent! We hired him to be our DJ for our wedding in Burlingame, and he also provided the uplighting free of charge. He brought all of his own equipment and provided the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, reception, and dancing. He was also the MC and did a great job with that as well. He answered all of my questions and was very responsive to any emails we sent and had very competitive pricing. He also dutifully stuck to our "do not play" list when one of the grandparents continuously pestered him to play the Chicken Dance! :) He was great to work with before and during the wedding, and I would highly recommend him for anybody looking for a wedding DJ/MC full package! Thanks for helping make our wedding so awesome, Rob!

Patrick was our wedding photographer, and he went above and beyond for us in too many ways to list. He was professional, hardworking and thoughtful in every way, disappearing into the background yet catching so many amazing moments throughout the evening. Patrick is not your traditional wedding photographer, but that was not what we were looking for. His work speaks for itself, and we recommend him highly.

We used LuvlyProduction for our wedding photobooth in May 2018. I was impressed by their responsiveness and their desire to make sure we had a good experience working with them. Our guests really enjoyed the props and enclosed photobooth!!! I had no complaints from our coordinator about setup or teardown. Would not hesitate to book again :)

We worked with Eric for our 12/9/2017 wedding at the Historic 16th Street Train Station in Oakland. Eric was incredibly excited to work with us, given the amazing venue, and we were excited to have him capture our special day. Eric was responsive, creative, and kind throughout the process. He captured dozens of high-quality shots of our day. We are pleased with him and the services he provided. Highly recommend! :)

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the Glen Cove Marina last Friday. 85 family and friends attended our event which started at 5pm and ended at 11pm. Noel set up speakers, lights, fog machine, the whole works and was ready to go by the time our reception started. Noel's price was quite reasonable but what impressed me most was his accommodations and overall positive attitude. Noel was game for anything and he was also equipped for anything. At one point in the evening we were able to show a video thanks to Noel bringing his own projector. He was incredibly gracious to our guests and played every song requested. You can't get much better than that and it definitely made for a great evening.

I reached out to Hopp Productions when I was planning my wedding because I was looking for a very specific type of video. After talking to Brandon, he confirmed that he could accommodate all specific details I had hoped for my video. Brandon traveled to my wedding and 100% exceeded my expectations. He was able to get the close up footage that I was wishing for, and was also able to capture fun downtime with my wedding party. Overall, this video is worth it's weight in gold. We, have watched our video countless times since receiving it. I would recommend Brandon to anyone I know wishing for top quality video. We are very grateful for this gift we will cherish it forever.

We hired DJ Or Tregger for our wedding on 10/14/16 and he was nothing short of professional! He made sure we had everything we needed for both the ceremony and reception. He and his assistant Miji are great! They responded quickly to emails and we appreciated the phone consultations with Or to ensure everything went smoothly. He played something for everyone, took requests, and all our guests had a great time out on the dance floor! He also surprised us by recording the speeches during the reception and emailed us a link to the audio! THANK YOU Or for a great time!! :)

Thank you PixCbooth for entertaining our guests on our wedding. We didn't have to give out wedding favors because of the 4x6 photo prints from PixCbooth! We saved a lot of money! Photos came out fast, high quality, and everyone got all their copies. Paul and Cathy are really approachable and they even extended on the spot. Hire them!!! They do their work professionally, they have been our family go-to photo booth! Thanks again PixCBooth!

We had TwinSpin for our wedding, and we're super satisfied with his service. Before the wedding, he spent time to learn my needs and address my concerns. His price was competitive; he worked with me on prices and threw in couple extras. His equipment was professional and as described, and everyone could hear in our outdoor wedding. At the reception, he was energetic and was able to engage the crowd without any directions from me. Overall, better than expected. You can hire him with confidence.

Rebeca was an amazing officiant! She is so organized, thoughtful, sweet, and responsive. When we first met her she was prepared with an outline for the ceremony and provided a lot of helpful and thoughtful suggestions. We ended up getting a rose arrangement for my now husband’s mother since her birthday was the day following the wedding. She also sent us a lot of samples for love quotes, vows and ring exchanges which were very helpful. Rebeca did our ceremony in English and Spanish and it ended up being so beautiful.

Gwen was so great to work with to officiate our parent's 50th wedding anniversary vow renewal ceremony. She really took her time to get to know their story to make it a very custom and special ceremony. She also was so helpful with great ideas for the ceremony, and she helped us coordinate speakers, how we walked down the aisle, so she definitely has great experience. We would not only recommend her but we would hire her again in a heartbeat!

We had such an amazing experience. Lara took our engagement and wedding photos and honestly, we could not have picked a better photographer. She was always able to capture the most precious moments in a very natural and elegant way. On the day of the wedding, she was professional, calm, but most importantly, she had a great, positive attitude. The photos came out absolutely stunning!!! We have viewed the gallery (so many times already!) and we absolutely LOVE the pictures, she captured so many details and emotions. The more we looked at the photos the more we loved them. We are seriously blown away with how all our photos turned out. We can never thank Lara enough for her amazing talent, positive attitude, and love she showed up. We highly recommend Lara. You will not regret it.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

  • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
  • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
  • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
  • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
  • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
  • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
