Albert did a phenomenal job with my wedding video! He was also a delight to work with! He was so patient and worked ever so hard (my wedding was a 12 hour event!) I think the hardest part for him was editing the video and making sure all the highlights I wanted were included in my video. He did not disappoint! I got every clip I wanted, and he incorporated all my favorite music and did everything I had requested. It's been a year since my wedding and recently watched the video again and all the best memories were captured! Thank you Albert for being the most responsive, patient person to work with and developing a quality wedding video that my husband and I (and now our daughter) will always enjoy!!!!

Lawrence did an outstanding job taking pictures of our pre-wedding and our wedding day. He knows perfectly where to take pictures, and he is very flexible, fun and easy to work with. He is also spontaneous to take picture outdoor, good to find a great place to take picture. Love it! Our photos were great, and I would like to hire him again if there is any occasion!!

Michael is, hands down, the best photographer I've ever worked with and one of my top 3 favorite vendors for my wedding. He did an amazing job on our wedding photos and was so fun and flexible to work with. Plus, he's a really fun, kind, and interesting person. I cannot begin to say enough good things about him and his work - just hire Michael and you will be very pleased with the results. I already recommended Michael to my friend who is getting married in 2019 - that's how much we love him. I am terrible at being in photos (and consequently, hate being in photos) - my engagement photos (with a different person, not Michael) were meh, but my wedding photos that Michael did for me are wonderful! He made everyone look fantastic - my grandmom, me, my husband, our bridal party, parents, guests, everyone! His photojournalist style comes through in his work and his whole approach to capturing your day. As my husband and I were browsing our images, we both commented how impressed we were that we didn't notice Michael moving around during the ceremony, yet he seemed to somehow capture every different view without any assistant helping him. I follow Michael on Instagram too, so I know his work is consistently fantastic! If you are considering hiring Michael, just do it! You'll be thrilled with the results :)

DJ Stallion was very easy to work with. From the moment I put in a request on thumbtack, he was the only Dj to contact us within a week. HE in fact called me within half an hour. I explained that our wedding ceremony and reception were at two different sites, which I believed would be a stumbling block, but without hesitation agreed, and was negotiable on price based on our budget. He was very responsive to all inquiries we had, and was communicative with us even on the wedding day. He provides a blank list that you pick your music from, ( a collection of thousands) so that you know what he is going to play at certain times. He listened to our every wish, not varying from the music genres that we listed out for idle time, and lit the place up for the main dancing portion of the night, providing strobes in the evening, which laid a great backdrop for everyone against the trees. The ceremony site was pretty minimalistic with a couple of speakers, a microphone to say our vows, and an amp lead for the guitarist playing songs as we walked down the aisle. Despite some last minute logistical changes to the way the ceremony was going to be run, he rolled with the punches and took it all in his stride. On the way out, he hit the nail on the head with some Hall and Oates to mark the ceremony completion. As a former Wild 94.9 Dj, he brings expertise, class, and an open mind to help you tailor your wedding day to your specific needs.

Finding wedding photography and videography was so hard and not to mention expensive. A friend told me about thumbtack, so I figured I'll give it a try and am sure glad I did. Shelia was so helpful and very informative about everything. She is so professional at all times . I told her my budget and she stuck rite to it and threw in some extra things for me. She offers beautiful engagement photos which turned out beautiful. We went to the Japanese Tea Garden in Harward , CA, and it was absloutely beautiful. On the day Of our wedding Shelia and Pam Were there early. They got pictures of the wedding set up, tables , flowers, cake, etc.. Shelia got pictures of everything I asked for. From the beginning to the end. And the most important she got some great shots of all the kids before they got all dirty it was beautiful. After the wedding Shelia got back to me in a week with all the pictures we had to pick threw, once we made our choices she put them in a beautiful album and sent them rite out us. I would recommend Shelia services to anyone looking for a professional and hard working photographer who takes pride in her work and making sure your needs are met on your special day. Thanks Shelia It turly was a pleasure! Sincerely Mr. & Mrs. De'Monta & Yolanda Hichks

Pros: Rob was the DJ at wedding and he was absolutely amazing!! He was very patient to work with me when I had a bevy of questions/concerns. In addition, he went above and beyond his duties (in which I paid him for). Highlights include: 1. He helped me make my slideshow video for the father-daughter dance. Everyone LOVED it. It had to be coordinated with the song and his transitions were brilliant. His hard work made a special moment even more special and allowed me to a video montage that I will always cherish. He even gave me a copy of the ppt with the music embedded as a keepsake. We had rented a projector and screen from him and he was able to set it up and take it down in 10 minutes. He was very efficient! 2. Our wedding was unique in that we had A LOT of kids present (45% of the wedding was under 15). He did a laser show with animals that kept the little ones entertained so that their parents could eat during the dinner. He made games to keep the older kids (even some adults) entertained. We got rave reviews from the guests regarding his light show. 3. His ability to be flexible. We decided to move our timeline up and he was able to continue the program seamlessly. We also made changes to the grand entrance at the last minute and he did it without a hitch. 4. Professionalism. He was very early and set up in a timely manner. Everything was ready to go once the guests got there. He was amenable to our situation. We had guests outside the patio area during cocktail hour so he set up speakers outside. He was very engaging with the wedding guests and made them feel at ease. 5. I had asked him to introduce our families. He called me on the phone in order to ensure that he got the pronounciation of the names correctly. We spoke for ~45 minutes on the phone to ensure that we were both on the same page as to what I wanted/needed. 6. Equipment: Rob has state-of-the art equipment. His lighting is gorgeous and the colors are vivid. A lot of people have cheap uplighting which causes lines and problems for videographers (my videographer has experienced this). Thus, with Rob's equipment you won't have to worry about the laser lights affecting your filming. 7. He was extremely prompt in returning messages!! That in itself is a huge plus. Semi-con: I did get negative feedback from the videographer and photographer stating that Rob was not amenable to their requests. Specifically, Rob was shining purple lighting on us (which was very pretty in person) but both the videographer and photographer said it was weird. They asked him to turn it to white and he refused so they had to ask me. Honestly, this is fine because technically, I am his boss as I am the one who hired him. He wants to make sure I am aware of why the lights are bright (instead of the warm, cozy ambiance). That is fine. His positive attributes more than make up for this incident. I would definitely recommend him to others and will do so if asked!!

I hired Stavan for my civil wedding ceremony and reception. The pictures turned out great! A wonderful mix of posed pictures with family and friends as well as candid priceless moments. In addition, he is open to work with your budget. My husband and I made the right choice in getting Stavan as our wedding photographer.

I hired Jeff to photographed our 50th wedding anniversary celebration of 63 people. He discussed the event several times in advance. He arrived 30 minutes before the posed fmaily pictures were takes to set identify scenic background at winery in Napa and set up proper lighting for the scene which was heavely backlit. He took posed pictures of 11 family members in various groupings, informal pictures at reception and during dinner and at Renewal of Weddding Vow ceremony. Picture were very good- sharp and good lighting. He composed 3 different albums for members of the family and was very quick in re-arranging the order of the pictures and making requested edit. . He was very professional to work with and guests enjoyed having him take their picture. He was very prompt ( within 3 days) in posting on his website a gallery of about 100 pictures of the event, which guests can review , download and order prints. He completed composing 3 different albums in 10 days. I was very pleased and recommend Jeff for event photography.

We had our pre wedding photoshoot done by Diane and it was a great experience. We were visiting SF for a few days and were wondering if we will be able to capture the essence of the place in the photoshoot, but Diane drove us to the most beautiful places in the city and clicked lifelong memories. We had some pictures clicked with our friends as well and they came out really well. Diane was very flexible and it was fun spending the entire day with her. She made us really comfortable and helped us all along the photoshoot. I will highly recommend her to couples for their wedding and prewedding photoshoots.

Patrick was our wedding photographer, and he went above and beyond for us in too many ways to list. He was professional, hardworking and thoughtful in every way, disappearing into the background yet catching so many amazing moments throughout the evening. Patrick is not your traditional wedding photographer, but that was not what we were looking for. His work speaks for itself, and we recommend him highly.

I got my sister an engagement style shoot in sanfrancisco as a part of her wedding present. I wasn't sure if she would like it (she isnt really that into pictures) but I am so happy that I did. They said that they had an absolutely amazing experience and that Andrea is literally the nicest most awesome photographer in the world. She brought champagne made the experience special, hung out with them, made them feel relaxed, took 2 hours of amazing photos at multiple locations, and then even gave them a lovely restaurant recommendation and then checked in after to see if they liked with. She was easy to work with, super helpful in arranging and planning everything, and a very fair price. Thanks Andrea!

We worked with Eric for our 12/9/2017 wedding at the Historic 16th Street Train Station in Oakland. Eric was incredibly excited to work with us, given the amazing venue, and we were excited to have him capture our special day. Eric was responsive, creative, and kind throughout the process. He captured dozens of high-quality shots of our day. We are pleased with him and the services he provided. Highly recommend! :)

We used LuvlyProduction for our wedding photobooth in May 2018. I was impressed by their responsiveness and their desire to make sure we had a good experience working with them. Our guests really enjoyed the props and enclosed photobooth!!! I had no complaints from our coordinator about setup or teardown. Would not hesitate to book again :)

I reached out to Hopp Productions when I was planning my wedding because I was looking for a very specific type of video. After talking to Brandon, he confirmed that he could accommodate all specific details I had hoped for my video. Brandon traveled to my wedding and 100% exceeded my expectations. He was able to get the close up footage that I was wishing for, and was also able to capture fun downtime with my wedding party. Overall, this video is worth it's weight in gold. We, have watched our video countless times since receiving it. I would recommend Brandon to anyone I know wishing for top quality video. We are very grateful for this gift we will cherish it forever.

Or Tregger DJ'd an event for my organization a few years ago in Jerusalem, Israel, and his ability to mix music, select the right songs, keep the crowd engaged, and make sure everyone was having a good time was amazing! Or has an amazing ear for music and a great sense for the feel of all different occasions. I had seen him DJ numerous nights at bars, lounges, and clubs prior to my event and knew he would be a great hit for our program, and sure enough - he delivered! I would highly recommend DJ Or Tregger for your wedding or other event. The best in the business!

Not only was Matt responsive and professional, he listened to what I wanted and worked effortlessly to make my wedding vision board come to life. I couldn't have asked for a better florist! We hired Ananda for a last minute decision to have a wedding in November. We planned our wedding in 2 months time! Ananda was perfect! Because of our last minute decision, we were not planning to take any engagement photos, but she made it super easy for us. She is located in Sacramento. Our wedding was to be held in Sacramento, but we live in the Bay Area. She was nice enough to meet us in San Francisco to take our engagement photos! We appreciated her organization and time management. Prior to the wedding, she emailed us a questionnaire asking where will the bride get ready, who are the bridesmaids/groomsmen/parents of the bride and groom etc., addresses of the reception/venue. This was reassuring. She was punctual. This was important to us to have someone who is timely! During the wedding, she took many candid photos in which we loved. She also took pictures of the guests as they waited for the bride and groom to enter the ceremony and reception area. Those photos were awesome. We actually developed them and sent them along with our Thank-You Cards. The quality of her photos are extraordinary! Top notch! She was able to get the pictures back to us in 2 weeks time after the wedding. Even faster for the engagement photos. I believe it was 3-4 days. She is also very very sweet! She gave us a wedding gift as well as a baby gift as my husband and I are expecting! -Clark and Erica Torres

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
