Math tutoring for a third grade student who is 6 months below grade level. We have had 5 sessions and he is already doing better. The tutor works with my grandson 2 times per week 1 hour each. She is excellent!
John Linneball helped me with SAT tutoring, especially in the math sections. The sessions took place at my house every week, but if ever there was a problem, communication was made easy through email. He really helped me and we clocked in many hours of math exercises. Not to mention, he gave me suggestions on what I should work on during my alone time.
Angela does the best job of explaining concepts for AP/SAT if you are trying to learn something outside of school. We did our tutoring over the computer, but I actually found it more engaging than in person. For example, I was confused about cos (180degrees), because I hadn't learned about it in school yet. Angela's explanation also made 10x more sense than what my math teacher would say. Now I FINALLY understand how to find cos (180degrees)!
John-Michael is the professional tutor I needed in my life. Math was such a dull subject and he brings it to life with his enthusiasm and curiosity. I genuinely fell in love with math! My Pre-Calculus grade shot up to an A (from my dark past of a D) after working with him for 1.5 months. He's refined my work ethic and respect for this subject and I couldn't ask for anything better. I continue to see him every week and its always a pleasure!
We did in-person tutoring at the library for math. Our tutor was excellent. Arbor Tutors is just amazing!
My son has been going to Dhivya for math tutoring for about 6 months for 1.5 hours per week. During this time, he has gained a lot of confidence in his math abilities. His math grades at school have greatly improved. Dhivya knows how to teach the math so that he understands it, and she is patient with him. I highly recommend her as a tutor.
Bob is friendly both my children are tutored by him. There grades are improving. He's very funny and well liked, they are comfortable with him and he was really flexible in making arrangements.
Viktor is an excellent math tutor. I came to him having not seen any math for eight years, and having not actually learned much of the math I had taken in high school. He started at the beginning and patiently made his way through all of the material I had to cover. Even though I started my tutoring really late in the game for the my test date, he made a big effort to meet with me as often as I needed to and tried to teach me as much as possible in time for my test date. He is really patient and very encouraging, and does an excellent job of explaining concepts that are confusing to people. I have had a lot of math tutors over the years, and Viktor is by far the best one. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Out of the many tutors we work with at our school, Rio is one of the best. He works beautifully with the students and their teachers as a partner and collaborator. The best part is how much the kids love him. He is an outstanding tutor.
Darya tutored and advised me throughout my senior year of high school and my first year at college. Having Darya by my side throughout the stress of a year and a half journey has had a significant impact in my life. Although Darya's main responsibility was to tutor me for my Advanced Placement (AP) Literature class, she went above and beyond to what I expected of an English tutor. She helped me find my inner voice as a writer through tutoring me about grammar, organization, and vocabulary. She also helped boost my confidence as an underprivileged Latina studying in the STEM field as a computer science major at the University of California: Santa Cruz. I passed both my AP Government and AP Literature classes and tests which is significant because both required a heavy amount of analytical writing; I graduated high school with honors and with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA), 3.7, at any time of my academic career. One week before I was going to take my SAT for the third time, I mentioned to Darya that I was struggling understanding a large portion of the Math section of the test. To my surprise, she was thoroughly capable skilled in tutoring me in math, along with English. In less than seven days, Darya was able to successfully prepare me for my last SAT test; subsequently, my SAT score improved by more than 100 points. If we had more time to go through the preparation book, I could have further surpassed this amazing progress. Another aspect in which Darya supported me in my college application and preparation process was in guiding me to refine my college essays for both private and public universities: as a result, I was accepted to more than half of the colleges that I applied to. Finally, I am most grateful for Darya and her efforts towards my success because of the high number of scholarships that I received in the second semester of my senior year in high school. Through Darya’s excellent editing and writing abilities, I was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in scholarship rewards from four different organizations. I could never have imagined this much triumph before meeting Darya; without these scholarship awards, I would have been forced to work during my breaks and during school to afford a college education. Now, all that I have to worry about is learning as much as I can while I am at UCSC. On account of my strong achievements in less than a year with Darya, I still utilize the many tips and lessons that she has instilled in me. As a result of this, I excelled in my classes at UCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Because of my outstanding academic success in the first quarter of college, I was exclusively invited by the university to apply to the College Scholars Program; this two-year program selects 20 students out of about 200 students applying from each college at UCSC to help give them meaningful academic challenges. Not only do I recognize Darya as one of the most significant people in my life because of my solid academic accomplishments, but also due to the genuine passion she holds to be sure that her tutees succeed. As her tutee, she constantly reminded me of my own abilities to encourage my confidence. We are still in contact today which further demonstrates her enthusiasm for her tutees. She is evidently benevolent, motivated, and intelligent, and I highly recommend her tutoring and guidance talents to any student who is fortunate enough to be her tutee.
Justin was a very patient and understanding math tutor. We worked at my pace, and he never hesitated or got frustrated when I asked him to go over concepts I was struggling with.
I’m currently a math teacher in South San Francisco Unified and have been teaching for the past 4 years. My first experience as a tutor was as a freshman in high school, and I haven’t stopped tutoring since then! As a teacher, I’ve been lucky enough to have taught both math and Chinese to K-12 students. Although teaching two different subjects to such a wide age group was at times difficult, this challenge was right up my alley. I specialized in secondary mathematics instruction for my Masters Degree at the USC Rossier School of Education, and Chinese is my native language. As a tutor, I expect my students to work hard and be dedicated. I believe that no subject is too difficult as long enough effort is put in. I only have a few students at a time, and most tend to stick around for quite a while. I’m always sad when they leave for college, but even then, they call me from time to time for help! The beauty of learning 1 on 1 is that the student is able to set the pace of the lessons. As a teacher and a tutor, I have learned to be flexible and creative with my lessons to support my students' learning styles, and I welcome the opportunity to help guide future students' educational journeys as well.
Thru the years Michael tutored both me & my children; he is a wizard in math & science, patient & imaginative, he can make any problem seem easy & fun. His tutelage is a big part of the reason both of my children were able get almost straight As in the academically challenging private school & then went on to college to land on deans list almost every semester. He is methodical & thorough in his approach & gets great results, children of all ages like him & his approach. He has remained a friend to every child he tutored in our extended family & children look forward to work with him. Michael has been a blessing to our family & many children I know, I can recommend him with all my heart.
Vanessa has a great personality! She uses her knowledge of math in a variety of ways that significantly helps a persons comprehension. I am looking forward to working with her in the future.
I have experience working one-on-one with students as well as experience teaching in a classroom. This allows me to enrich students' understanding of the content they are learning at school and also to help them understand the expectations of their teacher(s). I can impart mathematical and organizational knowledge.
