Kevin is one of the best plumbers/handyman in Silicon Valley. He is a true professional who is honest and is willing to help you out whether you choose to avail his service or not. He did an excellent job fixing the clog in my bathroom sink and he also helped me out with other handyman chores. Not only was the job well done in addition to giving me tips on how to fix things so that I can fix such issues in future but he also charged me for less time than he actually spent. Overall, I'm very happy with Kevin's work and will definitely recommend him to my friends & colleagues as well as rely on him for future needs.

This guy is the real deal. You can tell he has years of experience because of how good he is at improvising. He helped patched up a leak in the kitchen drain in just 20 mins. Made arrangements to get it done when two other plumbers flaked on us.

Our new rental home warranty plumbing coverage does not include tile work, but the plumber they dispatched needs a bigger opening behind the mixer on the tile shower wall to confirm the source of the leak. I hired Arisel from AA Cardenas Construction to help me with the tile work. I would have hired him for the plumbing work itself if I had known him earlier and had got to choose my own technician under warranty. From the get-go responding to my Thumbtack request for quote to finishing the job, Arisel had been very responsive, professional, friendly, punctual and helpful. The job was beautifully done! While I was writing the check, knowing the job is being contracted to Home Warranty company Arisel still took the initiative to inspect the leak checking the ceiling downstairs and share with me what he thought the problem might be. With him pointing out, I was convinced that he was spot on! Arisel is apparently a hard working, honest and friendly young man! I will definitely hire him again for future jobs. I highly recommend Arisel.

He bid $125 to clear the drain of a light well. Came within the half hour arranged arrival window. Swept clean the roof area. Found after the water initially drained that water backed up again. Determined that there was another clog underground near the sewer connection. Since there was no cleanout at the ground level and drain pipes were corroded (I had patched holes with plumbers putty and duct tape) He replaced the pipes for another $250 plus parts. This involved cutting away some cross beams to pull the pips out. Only minor complaint I noticed the next day that was that he didn't close tight the faucet to get water for testing the drain so there was a slow drip.

Hi was friendly, helpful, fast and showed up exactly on time. Contrary to many plumbers I've dealt with, he didn't try to push me into spending lots of money. Instead, he recommended solutions that saved me money, even if that meant less profit for him.

Toby came today to help us with the plumbing problem that we were having. He was very helpful and very professional he did the job and was very reasonable I’m sure he save us a lot of money compared to most plumbers. He was very nice and I definitely think I would hire them back for more than just plumbing work I think I got myself a new handyman to come help us with things that we need to get done around this house.

I had a clogged shower drain and Max sent two of his plumbers (Chris and Corey) the next business day to fix it. They were professional and courteous. Unfortunately, the issue was more severe than expected, but Chris found a workaround that will hopefully be less expensive. Some follow up work still needs to be done, but I'm hopeful that it won't be too involved.

I hired Gusanito to install porcelain tiles in my bathroom. He was very prompt--being the first contractor to contact me on thumbtack--and quickly responded to my text messages whenever I had a question. He takes his time and is very detailed in his work. He is also willing to help you with other problems. For example, in addition to installing the tiles, I also wanted to change my sink faucet and shower handles. He agreed to do the extra work at a reasonable price. The tile installation went smoothly, however, we ran into plumbing issues which he couldn't solve. I'm giving him four stars because I hired him on thumbtack for tile installation services, not plumbing. Nonetheless, he agreed to bring his cousin (who is an experienced plumber) over the next day to change my sink faucet at no extra cost. The total work took about two full days to complete, but I'm sure it would have been less if we didn't run into the plumbing issues. So I recommend him but make sure you talk with him thoroughly about what you want to accomplish.

Routine water heater swap - yeah right. What started out as thinking our water heater was broken, turned out to be a long overdue clogged sewer lateral. Worst case scenario. While I'm not that happy about the sewage overflow situation which could have been better mitigated (and we still need to beach the hell out of that room), the solutions and options offered by Ali were professional and spoke of his experience. To unclog the piping, snaking was attempted but failed, hydrojetting was attempted but failed (with a mess of sewage). Finally we got a camera down there to find a wall of something about 50 feet down from the mechanical room to a spot under the sidewalk. Digging 4 feet down, to find actually a pretty good condition clay lateral. Ali's man Valentino (a skilled gentleman), cut the clay and replaced it with a riser in order to install a cleanout for future maintenance. Once done, they hydrojetted for another hour to clear 7-8 months worth of waste. The camera was once again sent through to find that a portion of the clay lateral had shifted and created uneven surfaces including some penetration of tree roots. While most plumbers would probably recommending an immediate replacement, Ali recommended that since it wasn't fully collapsed, we should simply clear out the lateral as routine maintenance rather than spend all the money to replace the pipe. I appreciate his direct communication, no sales pitch, and brief coaching through the process. While I do have 10 yrs of construction experience, and his price was not the cheapest, he certainly delivered on time and without any sense of price gouging.

I would like to take this time to thank Dinh Nguyen for the excellent job he did for me. I had a leak in my kitchen sink so I posted my problem on line. Within minutes of the post, I received a call from Mr. Nguyen. I explained the problem to him, and he was able to come to my home within an hour of the phone call. He discovered where the leak was coming from and showed and explained the problem to me. The leak was coming from my faucet. So Mr Nguyen took me to Home Depot and we picked out a new faucet. We returned to my home, and he replaced the old faucet with the new faucet. Thanks also for leaving my kitchen in impeccable condition. I'd also like to say that the price was more than reasonable. So to anyone out there, if you are looking for a plumber, Dinh Nguyen is your man.

I have worked with multiple plumbers over the years and I can say without hesitation that Ganzo is the best plumber that I have ever worked with. Excellent, quality work at a fair price. We couldn't be happier with the experience. If you need a plumber don't hesitate to contact Ganzo. You will be happy you did.

The most professional and knowledgeable plumber I’ve ever hired! Dom came over to install a simple water heater, what happened next was out of the playbooks. The pipes burst, the tubing was incorrect, and Dom handled it like a true pro and stayed here for hours on a Saturday. One of the most amazing human beings I’ve met in a very long time, if you need to hire a true professional that you could trust.Dom is the man for you! Also, he went above and beyond with fixing little repairs that he was witnessing as he was doing his job. A true professional from top to bottom.

TL;DR: Valentino was excellent, and I'd hire him again in a heartbeat. I had some hesitations about hiring a plumber, after all the stories I've heard about plumbers charging exorbitant prices. For my disconnected kitchen sink pipe, a couple plumbers quoted me very high prices. When I came to Valentino, he charged me a fair price that was much less than the other two quotes. And moreover, he came on time and got the job (which actually wasn't so simple) done well. Super nice, super professional, and super honest. Hands down, I'd hire him again, and would recommend him to my friends.

I had a Kitchen drain that was clogged. David responded, we agreed on a reasonable offer and he was out the next day to complete the job. He was kind, professional and on-time (even a couple of minutes early). He put down a plastic tarp around the work area and was very clean and cleaned up after himself. I was VERY pleased with his responsiveness and work overall, I would def call him for any future repairs. He hit every mark on what one expects from a service professional and I think you'd make a good choice going with him. I have had to hire a plumber at a previous residence and it cost twice as much for a similar job. Glad I found him!

Hugo is very good person, he always answered my phone calls, arrives on time, very friendly, and honest. I needed new plumbing and few other things. I met him on Monday and I felt like I dont have to interview another plumber. He finished his job on Wednesday taking his few hours of time. He explains everything what he is doing which gives me confidence in knowing what is happening to the plumbing line. A contractor quoted me $100 for plugging in the new dishwasher, but Hugo said it is just connecting to the existing line, it will not cost anything. As a new homer, I can see how people are trying to fool for the lack of knowledge we carry on things. But Hugo's service is such that he wants to assure that he serves his best and makes sure that once he leaves the home we are peaceful too, by doing all possible tests to make sure there is no leakage. I recommend him to my friends and family. He is my plumber for my new home for any of my needs.

I highly recommend Flelix & Flex One Plumbing! Flelix “snaked” and cleared a clog in my 70 foot main sewer line in my Los Altos house for only $185 ( I have a readily accessible clean out on the side of my house). Other plumbers were quoting $220 plus ( one guy, who I found while googling wanted $450!). In addition, Flelix returned to my house on 8/14 and ran a camera through that 67 year old main sewer line of mine FOR FREE! Others had quoted $350 - $450 for such a service. I wanted a diagnosis of that old sewer line ( any offsets, root incursion, irregular line sloping ect. ) in order to plot long term strategies for keeping the line going. Look, it always makes sense to hire or at least get a quote from a guy like Flelix- an extremely experienced guy who has worked for the much more expensive major plumbing outfits for decades and who now is independent ( for two years now). He’s just as good, just as competent, has all the same equipment as the big boys but he charges a lot less BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE THE OVERHEAD THAT THEY DO. Plus you can trust an independent guy like Flelix because any nefarious interactions would most certainly be mentioned on review or feedback forums like this one. Do yourself a big favor, at least get a quote from this guy. Not only can he offer competitive & competent solutions but also the peace of mind that comes from a potential long term plumbing affiliation, knowing that you won’t get ripped off by unnecessary and OVERLY EXPENSIVE plumbing work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
