I'm so glad I found William! I had a bed bug issue and called 7 other pest control companies along with Protec, and Protec had the best price BY FAR and William was also extremely knowledgeable about bed bugs and patiently answered all questions and concerns I had. Protec's bed bug treatment includes 2 treatments, with the second treatment coming 3-4 weeks after the first treatment. My bed bug issue was already eliminated after just the first treatment, but William still came back to do the second treatment just in case. I would definitely recommend Protec to anyone looking to eliminate a pest issue without having to break the bank.

I initially went with Orkin, but last minute decided to look into a cheaper alternative and I found Venom on Thumbtack. Joe was extremely knowledge, informative, and very informative towards my situation since this was my first time having a pest problem (carpenter beetles) in my bedroom. Even though he was super busy, he was able to somehow fit me in as soon as possible. I am incredibly satisfied and happy with the customer service! Joe was very nice to charge me a lower rate than other well-known pest control companies AND he sprayed two other rooms for the same price. That's only because I accidentally asked after I had already paid, but he didn't mind. He also thoroughly sprayed the ENTIRE outside perimeter of the house! So far, none of these pests came back. I definitely would recommend this to anyone and will be calling Joe again if any other pest problems arise.

I just purchased a new home and the house came infested with fleas from the inside to the back and front yard of the house. I could be in the house for no longer than 5 min and my legs and feet would be covered in fleas and that was a huge huge problem not only for my son and myself but for my fur baby as well who is also an inside dog. I had to leave my fur baby with family memebers til i could find someone to come and spray everything. Well my cry out for help was answered in no time by Awesome Bees!!! He came out and went over all the possible reasons for the fleas and what would need to be done to get rid of these pesky little critters. Very knowledgeable in pest control! Answered all my questions! He was reliable, friendly and fast. I hired him same day to spray and I have to say I was very impressed at what an amazing job he did! My flea problem is now non existent and I was finally able to bring my dog home. I absolutely highly recommend Awesome Bees to anyone with a pest problem. They are miracle workers who get the job done right the first time around. Thank you Awesome Bees for doing such an amazing job. I cannot thank you enough. See you soon!

I am so happy that they got rid of my nasty ant problem. My old pest control company could not get rid of my ants. They made excuses that everyone is having an ant problem. I was than told my problem came from my neighbor. I had enough, I shopped around and found Revolution. They came out to my home the day I called them. Sprayed the ants that were wondering around my property than a week later did the entire perimeter of my home. No more ants for weeks now. I was so pleased I fired my old pest control and hired Revolution. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a professional company that actually gets things done.

I have never needed an exterminator before and was a bit apprehensive of what to expect. The gentlemen who was assigned to our home was Jose. He is an absolute professional with an added sympathetic personality - we had issues with our dog being frightened and Jose was very patient and willing to try and help. I purchased a continuing package and am looking forward to the results promised. I feel confident I made the right choice with Kevin O'Connor Pest Control.

Gave Centrix a try after being frustrated with big companies like Orkin and Terminex. Centrix regained my trust in how a pest control company should operate. I didn't feel like another number in a person's route. My service was personalized and the customer service was amazing. I've used them twice now and have found a permanent solution to all of my pest control needs. Will be rocommending to all my friends and family. Thanks again for everything!

We had a problem with subterranean termites coming through a crack in the concrete slab floor. Having previously having a pin hole leak in a copper water line in the same area, we were concerned about hitting a water or gas line where drilling to attack the termites. Steve ordered a sensor to determine where the various lines were run under the slab. Their help and concern was greatly appreciated, and I highly recommend them for any termite and pest control. D. Guardian Termite and Pest Control is everything I need in any company I am working with. I am a little high maintenance and have very high standards for work being done. I am picky and detailed. Guardian did everything I asked for and met every detail and request I had. Prompt, very professional, competitive, and very neat and clean. I had a unique challenge and they worked with me to think outside the box and completely fix the problem. I am very happy with the job they did and I will be using them again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
