Angelika Mehrens Designs & Mural World and Angelika's unique work as a fine artist is outstanding. Exceptional actually. The fact is there are very few artists I've ever worked with and witnessed create, let alone enjoyed the quality within my own space where I literally can say 'I like every piece'...there's not one I've seen that I did not think was beautiful and aesthetic...yes I have a favorite over another - I've told her it's like a greatest hits album of music - except hers is a growing portfolio of canvas and murals. As it happens, I am an executive of a Life Consulting business and we've commissioned 7 pieces for the space currently located in Santa Monica, California - We and our clients couldn't be more pleased. In closing, she's also very service oriented and professional to the final touch. It is with pleasure I highly recommend Angelika Mehrens creative work. Entrepreneur - Ryan Spick

My husband and I recently moved into our house in Torrance, CA.. We hired Debby and her company Creative Spaces Interior Design, Inc. to help us make it a home. She got a feel for our likes and dislikes almost immediately. She has a great insight in planning and design. She valued our thoughts and ideas and closely worked with them. She used and incorporated existing furniture, pictures and family heirlooms that were very important to us. She knows how to combine old styles with new modern styles to achieve the perfect desired effect for that "wow" factor that we were looking for. She is very detailed oriented and quite the perfectionist. She turned our home into something we are extremely proud of. It is warm, comfortable and inviting. We would highly recommend Debby to all of our family and friends and would definitely have her come again for future planning and decorating. Debby was a real pleasure to work with, you will not be disappointed.

I met with Christine for interior design work and was incredibly impressed. She has a wonderful sense of style and was able to capture my personality perfectly with her design recommendations. She has an attention to detail and was very generous with her time -- coming over multiple times to ensure the items were just right. She acted like it was more than just a "design job" but really important to her that I was pleased with the transformation. She is a wonderful decorator and I highly recommend her!!!! She is also a jack of all trades and even acted as a handy-man to remove chair cushions to take for upholstery and install a new light fixture!

I cannot say enough good things about Guy and his crew. Amazing job from start to finish. Guy took our small idea and turned it into a masterpiece! He was on time and on budget! Two things that I thought were unheard of when it comes to remodeling! Guy was patient and responsive and answered every question without judgement or delay. Construction Owl will most certainly be our first call when we begin our next home remodeling project.

I was looking online at several Staging Companies and Josh gave me the best info and I really liked his responses to my questions. We are in the process of transforming my home from one look to another hopefully in 3-4 weeks. He isn't pushy and he really listens to what I want and need. I can update after our project is done. So far really great!!! Karen

Karen designed and furnished the significant remold of our Santa Barbara 4 bedroom home on time, on budget, and on promised results. We are really happy with the outcome. What impressed us about Karen was her professional approach, her creativity, her problem solving, and her management of a complex project. We can honestly say there was not anything that could have been better. We had heard so many stories about the disappointments in remolding but not in our case, thanks to Karen . We have a second home in Hawaii that could use Karen’s magic, and we are looking forward to working with her on the project.

When I decided to hire someone to decorate my home, it was because I had no time to do it myself and no clue how to. Fortunately I found Victoria. She was able to plan from start to finish what I needed for my home to be my own. From the first day she was efficient, professional, and intuitive. The design for each room captures what I was looking for. Victoria's knowledge and grasp for design has proven to be invaluable. I will undoubtedly utilize her again for future projects and highly recommend anyone looking for an interior designer to do the same.

So happy with my new home! I hired Ranj to help me with the interior design of my home that I recently purchased. Not knowing where to start from and what to pick out. I gave her my wish list and true enough she was very detailed, specific and she delivered results that went beyond my expectations. I am very happy with the results and I’m glad I decided to work with Ranj!

Chloe was absolutely fantastic to work with! She was the first interior designer I've ever worked with and she made the experience so much fun. She has such a keen creative eye and knows all of the "under the radar" shops and markets to pick up eclectic and interesting pieces that are truly special. My husband and I moved into our house about a year ago and I had mixed some of my existing furniture with some new pieces I found on my own. Everything felt really disjointed and awkward. I hired Chloe to help me tie everything together and make it feel like home. She helped me find the most beautiful vintage art that spoke to me (and was VERY reasonably priced) and helped me layer my existing furniture with some new interesting pieces to give our home an overall more lived-in, warm and eclectic vibe. She never pressured me to buy anything out of my price range. She was even able to get shop owners to allow me to bring furniture and artwork home before buying to let it "live in the space" to make absolutely sure that it was something that my husband and I both loved. Can't say enough good things... if you're looking to create a beautiful space to call your own while having so much fun doing it, hire Chloe!

Devlyn is absolutely amazing!! I first met her when she did an in home consult helping me choose paint colors for my new condo. She is very patient and attentive to achieve your desired look. It turned out great and was exactky what I was looking for! She slowly edged me out of my comfort zone by showing me how to mix the dark colors I love with other brighter colors and still get my desired look. I actually look for bright colors now! Devlyn has remained a very dear E-friend since that time even by chance finding my new first home!! Devlyn is beyond outstanding! I would recommend her without any reservation.

Lee's ability to bring out what both my husband and I wanted is incredible. He has a sixth sense that saw what we couldn't explain. The design style, options and sheer creativity was more than we expected. The entire process was a pleasure. He was always a step ahead of us and the other trades to keep everything on budget and on schedule. We are looking forward to the next phase of updated our Silver Lake home in 2019 with Lee. Highly recommended.

    About

The process of preparing the home to sell on the real estate market for the best price and to sell fast is called home staging. It can be as simple as rearranging your present accessories and furniture, or as intricate as hiring several people to come and renovate the home with paint, carpet, and window treatments. While each job will have a varied scale, the objective is always to sell the house by quickly setting it set aside from the competition of other homes in the same price range or neighborhood. My goal as your home staging professional is to attract buyers from the roadside, into checking the sidewalk, walking up the driveway or path and into the home. The curb appeal will lure buyers in, and the interior appeal gets them to buy the home. As a staging expert, I exert effort from the curb to the interior and our homes that have been staged sell faster, and for more money! I will work with you on curb appeal to make sure that you have the lawn mowed and trimmed, bushes that are unattractive removed or cut back, trees cut back and tidy, and flower beds with fresh flowers planted in the yard. Our goal for the interior is to make your home appear as spacious as possible and showing off the home’s best attributes. We will declutter your home, plan a design layout for furniture and accessories and purchase or add new items that will reflect the buyer imaging themselves living in the home. We may add formal dining dishes for the formal dining room, fun kitchen tableware for the kitchen nook along with fresh kitchen towels, flowers and fresh fruit for the kitchen itself. Putting together a design plan for home buyers to see themselves living in your home is very difficult for the homeowner to do. As they see their cherished items as part of what made it their home and a fresh perspective from a staging expert is what they need to view it from a buyer's view. Buyers need to see themselves living in the home and make goals, dreams, and possibilities when they come to take a look at your home. As your home stager, I will assist you in all everything that needs to be done in the preparation of your home for sale. I will give you ideas on how to declutter, give you references for flooring, paint, and window treatments. I will also help you understand what needs to be repaired or replaced, and, most of all, finish the job by putting together the final design in each room as planned from the get go. Your home will be ready to sell fast for top dollar!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

    • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
    • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
    • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
    • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
