Michael, from my first lesson was so attentive to what I wanted to learn. Kind of in passing, I told him that I loved to sing but was afraid to so he really coaxed me to sing along to all the guitar songs I was learning (I really do not think that any other guitar teacher would have bothered...like "not my job". But, not Michael, he took that on as his job because he recognized that it was important to me). Likewise, when I would show an interest in a particular type of music (i.e. I like acoustic and more mellow, verging on country even), he found songs like that for me and he taught me my songs I had picked even though I doubt that they would have been his picks. In summary, he wanted me to relate to and enjoy the music; the lessons are all about what I want to get out of them...with professional guidance along the way as well. The other thing I want to definitely mention is that, Michael is top-knotch, professional and KNOWS music. He encouraged me to not only learn songs to play but to understand the theory of the music in those songs. I feel very proficient in music theory after taking classes with Michael. I not only play the stuff but I "get it." I understand the technical theory involved. I really think that this is something not every guitar teacher brings to the table or encourages. Many just do not know it! With Michael, we can move from guitar to piano so that he can illustrate something about chords in a key or the difference between major, minor, dominant and diminished chords. Bottom line, I have fun during my lesson but I learn so much more than memorizing chord shapes on the guitar. And, when I play and sing a song...well, it really feels great! Honestly, he is the BEST! He just cares so much about you learning all you can regarding music and he knows how to teach it so that you get to understand what can at first seem so unfamiliar. Michael has the holistic approach. He makes music familiar, logical, relatable and, most of all, Enjoyable. As his student, thumbs-up!

I've been taking Kung Fu lessons from Xander for the last 6 years. He takes the time to teach me the true Kung Fu. Unlike other Kung Fu teachers that just care about the money. He has taken me from not knowing how to fight at all and taught me how to fight very well. I have also taken music lesson from Xander. He is exceptionally knowledgeable on the subject. If you want a true teacher call Xander!

Jasper is one of the premier talents I've had the pleasure of recording. When I wanted to brush up on my bass skills he was the obvious choice. Patient and disarming, he's a wonderful instructor. Armed with a deep understanding of the mechanics of music, he can score (a disappearing art among modern players) and perform technically at the highest level, yet his most compelling skill remains his taste. I recommend anyone with access to his talent as an instructor to seize the opportunity.

At 34 years of age I decided to learn how to play a music instrument. After searching the valley for a teacher I found iMusic Academy. What made my attention was the fact that they send the teachers to your home. That was it was very convenient and easy for me to get started with guitar lessons. Eric started teaching me the guitar once a week. He is a really great teacher and has helped me progress very well. Eric is a master of the guitar and realyl knows how to teach you how to play. I highly recommend iMusic Academy as an excellent music school and Eric as a teacher.

Every Friday I'm at GoDpsMusic for my drum lesson. Definitely my favorite day of the week! The atmosphere is excellent! The acoustic and electronic drum kits in the lesson studios are the best. If you want to schedule a lesson or purchase equipment, I strongly recommend GoDpsMusic. Kevin, Brendan, Bryan, Steve and Robbie are the "go-to" guys at GoDpsMusic.

I have been playing the guitar for about four years and mostly play rhythm guitar. However, I do play a few solos. Nonetheless, I can teach you basic guitar chords all the way to bar chords, eventually learning full songs. In addition, I can teach how to tune your guitar in standard tuning by ear. Although I did attend a guitar class at Ventura College twice and dropped it, I did study my guitar textbook for about two hours daily until I was self-taught, playing all of my favorite songs. Lastly, although I teach, I am still improving my own technique and hope to help someone play his/her favorite songs as well.

I believe that good instructors play less than their students. I am the best guide for my students and let them develop their intuition by being as active as possible in our lessons.

Hi, I'm a working studio musician and film composer and I also love to teach. I love to work with beginners and kids as well as pros. I also work with professional actors and musicians preparing for auditions. From the basics and far beyond, I've got the styles covered. Find out what alot of pro guitar players, bass players, producers, and actors in Los Angeles and Nashville already know. You name the sound, from strumming to walking jazz and blues bass, r&b funk bass, guitar fingerpicking to playing with extreme speed (with or without distortion) to electric 12 string to just having fun playing songs to whatever, let's talk (house calls extra depending on location) Bass styles include jazz, funk, rock, blues, ect.......Slide guitar too!

I am as independent of a musician as you will ever fine. I am completely self motivated, and my style is unique. If you're exclusively looking for a teacher to guide you through the standard classical approaches I'm probably not your guy, but if you're looking through a teacher who is knowledgeable and mindful of theory and technique while recognizing the value of exploration and playfulness in music I might be your right guy. My goal is to draw my students closer to their own creative passions.

About

I'm a self-taught musician and have been playing guitar for 12 years now. I study film and television at Boston University but music has always been my greatest passion. I've played in many different bands in Los Angeles and have performed alongside some notable musicians, including singer and VH1 host Janelle Sadler, (Donny Osmond, Natalie Cole), Christy Calabro (Bret Michaels, American Anthem), and bassist Jerry Best (Dio, Lion, and Courtney Love). I've also played at the Key Club on the Sunset Strip. Now, I'm a full-time student and a musician in between projects. I feel that music is something beautiful that brings people together, and I'm eager to share my experience and knowledge with everyone interested in learning the guitar. I'm willing to travel to wherever I can. Lessons are either half hour ($30), or full hour ($50).
