    Rising Tides Music

    (6 reviews)

I believe in creating a safe and fun environment to learn music. This environment is important for children and adults alike. So many people I have taught are traumatized by a pervious scary music teacher and as a result have a negative relationship with lessons. My goal is to provide a positive experience so that experience will be a distant memory and exploring the world of music will be enjoyable again. I love helping people overcome the obstacles that are limiting their music performance and experience. Often small adjustments can greatly improve your playing, composing and performing.

I am a "tried and true" professional who has considered it his life and work to be a professional musician. Many may wonder about qualifications to teach something like music, or especially jazz. There is no better qualification than having been professional in this field. Only then, can one impart all of the different types of techniques that are necessary for success. Sharing my love of music with someone who cares about music and the joys that music can bring. No matter how far one may go in music, a feeling of accomplishment in playing or singing music is almost incomparable to anything else when it comes to self-realization and happiness. For a student to be serious is a thing of beauty. I wish they all were!!!

We are two teachers who run a piano teaching business, both mobile, and in our home. We teach beginner and intermediate levels when it comes to playing the piano, and we incorporate technique and theory lessons, as well. We are willing to teach anyone age 5 or older. A typical lesson is 30 minutes long, once a week. We currently have over 50 students, have hosted winter and summer recitals, and love what we do! We enjoy sharing our gifts with our students because we believe there is nothing like being able to express yourself through music.

Our work stands out form others because we have a very personal approach to teaching music. We like to get to know the student's needs and personality before placing with a teacher. I love seeing students succeed, whether they make it to The Voice" or to America's Got Talent or to Broadway, as many of our students have.

I am an approachable, down-to-earth teacher with years of experience. I tailor lessons for each individual student, and have experience working with very young children through advanced adult students. I have infinite patience and unlike many teachers, I pride myself on being able to adapt my style of teaching to work for different learning styles and students with differing goals. Music means different things for each student, so I avoid subscribing to a "one-size-fits-all" method of instruction. I love that I get to interact one-on-one with students from a variety of backgrounds everyday, from children as young as three who simply need to be exposed to general music instruction, to adults well into retirement who are looking to rekindle their love of piano, to advanced singers needed detailed refinement in technique. I particularly love watching students develop and excel at their instruments over time, finding newfound ways to express themselves and channel their creativity.

I specialize in helping people break through their blocks. This could be technical blocks, sight-reading blocks, emotional blocks or fears, performance anxiety blocks, etc. I have a good blend of musical training combined with my intuition to help me zero-in to the root of the issue. I'm very creative and patient as a teacher and I really enjoy seeing people improve quickly.

I am not the least expensive facility but I do typically charge less than most but work harder than others in my field. I always try to keep prices affordable and am more concerned with establishing relationships and having long term customers rather than big short term gains. Typical recording service is $35/hr and lessons are $50 per hour with half hour slots available. I also offer a discount for 2 months of lessons purchased in advance and lesson or studio time gift certificates are available. Reputation is everything to me and if I have to work a little harder I am willing to do so to insure the quality of my work and the integrity of my reputation. I love people! I love the creative process! I love helping others reach their creative potential. I enjoy teaching and I also really enjoy the art of recording music. When you hear that playback and your dream has become a reality...well what a privilege it is to be a part of that and to help make that happen! I also thoroughly enjoy taking a piece of equipment that is broken, not functioning properly or in dire need of restoration and making it shine once again! Very satisfying work.

Music instructor, Pete Hopkins believes that making learning fun and treating clients the way he likes to be treated are key ingredients to his success as an exceptional music teacher.

His inspiration springs from his passion for music, his experience as a professional performer, and the guidance of his favorite instructors, who showed phenomenal support and equipped Hopkins with a vast array of musical skills and know-how. He is now sharing these gifts with his students.

What I love about my job is the ability to pass on the passion I have for music to another and to see how they make use of the knowledge and expertise that I have gained to fulfill their own ambitions.

Success for Peter is witnessing his students grow as artists while singing, playing and writing the music they love.

Whether you are just beginning or want to enhance your musical prowess, Pete Hopkins can help. From vocal coaching, guitar and bass lessons, to songwriting, music theory and production, he'll make sure that you get all the techniques and knowledge that you need to be successful and have a great time in the process.

The most effective way to keep clients happy in my experience is to be honest, kind and find a way to make the work as fun as it is effective. I try to make certain that they are happy with the results they are experiencing as well.

For fun and results-oriented music sessions, hire Peter Hopkins. You will surely have the melodious experience of your life.

    The Piano Place

    (10 reviews)

Simply Music piano lessons are a most wonderful learning experience for me. I am a fifty-something with no prior music knowledge and I did not think that I have a music bone in me. Sheri believes, and she convinced me, that all of us have music in us and that Simply Music can teach us to enjoy and play music at any skill level. That is amazingly true. Sheri is an experienced and very good teacher. She is always very positive and encouraging, making playing the piano a lot of fun; she is resourceful in coming up with ideas to help us remember music pieces better, and constantly reminding us that we now have the tools to help ourselves in our music journey. I love that.

    Take Sessions

    (10 reviews)

I started taking lessons with EBD in January to take a few singing lessons. It was my first time actually having a teacher after 5 years on my own. I had Tash as my instructor and she was great! Very friendly and nice. She was encouraging as well and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to make sure they aren't hurting their voice or wanting to build confidence. The owner is JJ. He is a great guy and very professional. He will work with your schedule and is always available to call if you have questions. He quickly went over his background and you can tell his passion about what he does. He specializes in the dj lesson and I would recommend him as I also took a basic lesson for rhythm and counting beats! The good thing about EBD is its like a university for music classes that makes it so easy to work with the teachers. You actually build a relationship with these people and often end up staying and having a conversation about the day after. For what they teach they really are the best in Los Angeles. Thanks for the lessons!
