Chris was running a few minutes late which could have been frustrating to me, however he let me know and kept me up to date on his eta and was very apologetic upon arrival. I appreciate that he was very respectful with my time. He did an excellent job removing the stains in the carpet from all of the holiday fun and kept the area tidy. I would highly recommend him.

Joseph is the best! He and his employee did everything they could do to get at the pet stains and clean the carpet thoroughly. I have watched some carpet cleaners go over an area just once. Joseph and Shandy used repetition to get areas clean, particularly on the stains. I know from past experience that stains tend to come back after the carpet dries. I suspect that will happen here, but I am guessing much less than with other carpet folks. Our last carpet cleaner, who came with a sterling reputation, did not do as well as JD Cleaning Services and charged more. It is also hard to get people to come to Lyons. I appreciate that they cam from Ft. Collins! I will hire again!

We needed our carpets cleaned as we were moving out of a rental property. Justin was amazing to work with! He was able to fit us in at the last minute which is always a great plus and his team did an outstanding job! I think they were even able to lift stains in the carpet that were there before we even moved into the place! i would highly recommend his services. Courteous, clean, professional, timely and very responsive. Two Thumbs Up!

Spartacus did a great job! My chairs and carpet were very stained and he did the best he could to get them looking decent again. He was very reasonable and contacted me to see if he could arrive earlier than he originally scheduled. That was fine with me, I appreciated the opportunity to get it done earlier.

Showed up on time, friendly service, very reasonable prices, carpet was wet and took some time to dry, but kinda expected that. Hair and fiber piles left in spots, so had to vacuum again after wards. Surprised he didn't elevate furniture legs on small blocks as other carpet cleaners have done to protect furniture feet and better access to carpet. Over all good for the price. Just looking to get the carpet cleaned after a long winter inside with dogs.

Jonny is oneof the most reliable people I have ever met. From tile work, to leaky pipes, to carpet install, to ceiling repair, Jonny has helped me out in ways more than he knows. He works like a machine and doesn't stop (or even eat) until the job is 100% completed and cleaned up. I plan on using his services until he longer wants to work, and highly recommend him to anybody for anything!

The technician was very competent. He was determined to get stains out of my carpet, and succeeded very well. A hard worker. Had to haul the unit up a flight of concrete stairs.

Jon and Zac cleaned the carpet at my rental. This carpet had not been cleaned for 5 1/2 years and they had a lot of parties and LOTS of people in and out all the time. It literally had hundreds of stains; had every imaginable type stain and some that were not identifiable; it went from a light beige when new to a dark brown in the time they rented. Jon and Zac spent FAR more time than a normal company would spend cleaning a carpet. It was a real challenge for them, but they never gave up. They went above and beyond to make sure they hit every inch and every stain on the carpet. I never, ever thought it could look new again. I left while they cleaned and came back to pure shock. Yes, some stains will never come out, but that carpet looked new in all the rooms but one. The process they use is out of this world great. I am SO, SO, SO glad I used Genesis and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone having their carpet cleaned, not just when it's as bad as mine. I just can't say enough good about Jon, Zac and Christine. If they could bring the horrible mess at my rental back to life, they can do it even better on an average home cleaning. Give them a try. You'll be glad you did. Connie R. Lakewood

The service was great. He was on time andactually called the day the day before to make sure everything was set. He was very courteous came in and did the job very well. I would recommend him again to anyone.z The only thing I wish would have come out better would be some of the stains on the carpet. I do have 14 year old carpet though so it's understandable. Thank you mile high carpet rescue.

I ordered carpet from a local carpet store and Kevin and the crew from KGW Flooring installed it. I am very impressed and pleased with the work they did. KGW Flooring charges very reasonable price for excellent work they do. Also, they were patient when the carpet store sent me the wrong carpet at first. Eventually, when the right carpet arrived, Kevin and the crew were able to finish it beautifully. They took time to do it instead of rushing through it, especially stairs which turned out much nicer than what it was before. They went beyond my expectations and I love my carpet because of how they installed it. I recommend KGW Flooring to anyone who wants to install the carpet because of their professionalism and work quality. They certainly have lots of experience on how to install the carpet.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.
