Robert and Tina are a great team. They responded quickly to my job post for my broken washing machine door, and scheduled me right away. Robert has a great business acumen, was very professional and also a great sense of humor. I would absolutely recommend them and will call on them again for any appliance repair needs.

Dave and Junior did a good job removing our old appliances. They did the installation in a reasonable amount of time. They were flexible and able to solve the instal and connection problems. My only suggestion is that they be more careful of woodwork. Three of the screws into the wood cabinets around the oven, split the wood because they didn't pre-drill the holes with a small drill bit. Other than that, they were very helpful and very pleasant to work with.

I have hired Andrew twice, once to repair an oven and once to check out a furnace problem. In both cases, Andrew arrived on time (early, actually), diagnosed the problems quickly, and repaired them right away. His work has been timely, affordable, and reliable; I would hire him for any appliance repair.

Wed Aug 16, 8:18 PM If you’re contemplating hiring a good General Contractor, Daniel Gonzalez and his construction teams are your guys! We hired Daniel to finish 1,300 square feet including an extra bedroom, laundry area, storage room and quilt studio in our basement. Daniel gave a fair quote and he brought top notch teams and hard working guys to the project! His electrician did an excellent job installing all new electrical; and his HVAC guy ran new heat ducts and installed a whole house humidifier. The plumber ran new plumbing for a utility sink and washing machine. The framer did a fabulous job independently building our design to our exact specifications and even added decorative arches. The drywall guys hauled in heavy drywall sheets one-by-one because it wouldn’t fit into our window wells. The drywall installers got 4 rooms put up in one and ½ days! The tapers and texture's did an excellent job taping drywall seams and adding texture in less than two days for each team. Daniel’s crews showed up on time, they were respectful, trustworthy, and we appreciated how hard they all worked to get the job done in a timely manner. Daniel and his trim and paint team did an excellent job painting, installing our flooring, trim, doors, hardware and window ledges. Best of all, Daniel is an honest guy and does what he agrees to do. Treat these guys right and they’ll treat you right! Great job! We love our new space! Thanks Daniel!

I would highly recommend AAG Appliance Repair! Adam came out to our house to repair our refrigerator and he came out within 24 hours and fixed our issue right away. He doesn't try to upsell and offered us very sound advice; we felt he was very fair and competitive with what he charged us. We definitely appreciate that when so many others try to sell you things you don't need. Adam is extremely professional and we will always use his services for any appliance repair we have in the future. Thanks again!

Working with Greg was great! He responded to my request in a timely matter as well as scheduled a time to review the job. He ended up knocking out my original request and taking care of a few other plumbing issues I had. I appreciated that he took the time to explain the options and that he listened to my concerns.

Choice One Appliance Repair was great; they got my stove working in less than an hour. The only bad thing is I had to wait over a week to get them to my house. So if you are in a hurry, I would try someone else.

Randy was awesome! Our 31 year old Maytag dryer had stopped tumbling and we weren't sure if it was worth repairing. Randy said he wouldn't charge us to come look at it. 15 minutes after getting here (on time or maybe a little early) he showed us the broken belt. He said our old dryer was still good and replacing the belt was the best way to go. He left to get a replacement belt and came right back. Fixed it and vacuumed the insides of the dryer. Here and gone (with the trip to get the belt) in about 2 hours. $100 later and we are extremely happy! Great guy - definitely recommend his services, he's conservative, honest, fast, friendly - and good! Really seemed to know what he was doing.

I had two items that needed repair, my freezer wasn't making ice and my washing machine was out of balance. Paul was on time and took care of both items in a few hours, which included having to go pick up a part. I would gladly recommend him to anyone else in need of appliance repairs.

Gerald was amazing! Friendly, knowledgable, reliable, professional and very reasonably priced. He serviced and repaired 2 furnaces and 2 AC units in our home and took the extra time to explain a few things to us. We were extremely happy with him and would recommend him to friends and family in a heartbeat. We will definitely hire him again on future projects.

Mr. repaired and rebuilt a section of my side fence last month. He was, as always, courteous, prompt, and meticulous in providing his service. He also ensured that the work site was left clean and free of debris. Moreover, Mr. Howard was very fair in pricing the job. I would highly recomend Mr. Howard.

Though I have already written a response about the service, I will only add that we were very pleased with Patrick and his work. He was very polite and thorough in his explanation of the problem. He gave us directions on how to follow through with the repair process and it worked. We are happy. It was a fair price and excellent service. Thank you!

My oven died a few weeks ago, I called one company and they were going to charge $100 just to walk through the door! After waiting a week, they called and canceled the appointment because the part that was needed couldn’t be found and I should consider buying a new oven…That’s when I called JR, he came over, verified the part I needed (same part the other company couldn’t find) JR was able to get the part and even suggested that we have the “brain” checked at the same time (No extra charge). Once the part(s) came in, JR was here and had everything in great working order in about an hr! JR is AWESOME! He is professional, punctual, knowledgeable and just a great guy! He was so easy to work with! I highly recommend calling JR (August LTD) for any appliance repair needs you have! JR (303) 210-4172

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
