Mike is an amazing instructor. He teaches me songs I want to learn based on my skill level. This makes me really look forward to our lessons because I'm learning stuff I want to. I am an adult learning guitar and I have been given the same amount of encouragement that he would his other "younger" students :) I highly recommend the guitar lessons at Sollohub.

Jeff is an excellent guitar teacher! My playing has improved greatly in the 2 months I have been taking lessons with him and have learned so much more about the guitar. He gives you actual songs you can practice the chords you learned with and it feels like you're playing along with the band. He always keeps the lessons interesting and I love going to my guitar lesson each week!

I have only taken a handful of lessons with Melody, but I am very impressed with her teachings so far. I came in as a young adult knowing nothing about piano, and Melody has been an exceptionally patient teacher with me. She is so knowledgable and passionate about music that she made it her full time career. That passion and skill shows in all she teaches me, and she is a joy to be around. I would absolutely recommend her as a piano teacher!

My first lesson at Allegro Music House with Jonathan was awesome. Jonathan was very articulate in troubleshooting where my pain points were and figuring out exactly where we need to work on first. I will try to remember to update my review as my lessons progress, but as for now I have weekly lessons with Jonathan and I am very excited to continue.

Jeff is a very knowledgeable and gifted teacher. He brings a unique approach to the table teaching songs of his client's choice; meanwhile incorporating the best techniques for chords and chord progressions. He is very considerate and values his clients time and certainly gets the most out of each lesson. I'm happy to report that I learned my first song, die a happy man by Thomas Rhett, after 2 lessons with Jeff. I highly recommend him to guitarists of all ages and experience.

Took awhile for me to work thru choices but found Doron who was perfect choice for my 10 yr old twins who never had lessons before. I never would have found him without TMT. I actually was using thumbtack searching for something totally different and TMT popped up. Lucky me!

I so enjoy his lessons. He has done a wonderful job; I have to say I love the way he teaches. I am challenged just enough in class with a variety of exercises and I walk away with plenty of new information. I leave his lesson feeling motivated and inspired to excel in music. Great work here. 👍

I've been blown away by my lessons with Allie. I've never known a voice teacher so intuitive and inspiring. She is not only addressing the specific goals I have defined for myself, but she has brought so much more depth to the lessons than I thought I could ask for in a teacher. Highly recommend her for any singer-songwriters out there.

Dave is an amazing guitar teacher! He is great with everybody I see him with. Even young people that are around the age of 7. Dave taught me the music I like. He would always ask me "So what's next on the list?" if I forgot to do homework he didn't get mad at all, he just worked around it. Lessons were always fun and funny. Dave definatley new what he was talking about with guitar.

Mr. Funk taught me how to use Cooledit Pro, now Adobe Audition, back in 2005. He did this with a couple of free online video lessons. Since then I've made 50 or more high quality multitrack recordings. To top it off he's an all around great guy and killer guitar player and teacher.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What do you learn in a first aid course?

First aid training gives you a variety of lifesaving skills for responding to many different emergency situations. In a first aid course you’ll learn about how to examine someone who’s been hurt, how to use a defibrillator, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to control bleeding and trauma. Some courses include pediatric first aid as well as adult first aid; helping a choking infant, for example, is different from helping a choking adult. Although you can take CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) courses separately, most first aid training includes both.

In a first aid course you’ll also learn how to respond to:

  • Wounds, including punctures, cuts and hemorrhages
  • Heart attacks, chest pain and respiratory arrest
  • Bone fractures, sprains and torn muscles
  • First-, second- and third-degree burns
  • Poisoning
  • Choking
  • Bites and stings
  • Hypothermia or frostbite
  • Shock and seizures
