I was looking for a Handyman on Thumbtack, after hearing from a few I decided to go with A&B... I would describe him as a master carpenter, his excellent craftsmanship, professionalism and value have earned him several other jobs that I need to have done.

Thiago from Alpha Pro Painting came and gave us a fair estimate to repaint our home exterior. He was extremely professional, communicated well as to when he would arrive, answered all our questions, was very polite, and did a fantastic job to our complete satisfaction above and beyond expectation. I would him hire again and am recommending him to our friends and relatives. Using a service like Thumbtack may seem intimidating, but once you meet Thiago and look at the many other glowing reviews of his work you can rest easy that he will perform to your satisfaction. This is a company that takes pride in it's work and has experienced craftsmen.

I have dealt with many contractors in my lifetime , however I can honestly say it was a pleasure dealing with Dan. I hired Dan to replace a deck on my home prior to putting it in the market for sale. Dan not only did an excellent job on the deck, he helped me make economical solutions to various repairs and remodel that ultimately help sale my home. What was most impressive is that Dan dealt with the constant hassle from the building department in a patient and professional manner. Most importantly the craftsmanship of the deck was so impressive that the inspector said "Your Contractor did right by you and built a deck that will outlast any deck I have seen in the past 2 years." If I was not moving out of state I would hire Dan to do any project in my house because it is not often you come across a true Master Carpenter and that is what you will get when you hire Dan.

We found Bruce on Thumbtack and this was the first time we took a quote from someone on this app. Our first impressions were great! For those who have had work done before, getting a contractor to show up on time when they say they will be there is half the battle sometimes. Bruce showed up when he said he would be there with what he needed to quote the job (again I cannot tell you how many times contractors will show up with nothing). Very professional and left a good first impression. We eventually hired him for the job of designing and building built ins around our fireplace. He based his designs of some ideas I found online, but his architectural skills of aesthetically designing the project to fit into our space were excellent and exactly what we wanted from him! The end result (which turned into a phase 2 project to again design and build an aesthetic beam and pillars separating our open floor plan and flow into the built ins he just made) was literally perfect. Matched our taste, design of the house and the craftsmen ship was some of the best I have seen. I don't like to talk cost because everyone has their own opinion on what is considered expensive however what I can say is he had 3 change orders on the whole project (one of which was a good size relatively speaking to the built in project) and he was clearly very fair and right in line with my expectations. This speaks volumes on the type of person and businessman he is. A++ contractor and will 100% be using him again in the future!

Chris is a very respectful individual who I enjoyed listening too as he sculpted some very fine carpentry. All phases he explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. It's good to see good old fashioned carpenters with an abundance of know how. I will use him in the future!

Mark did my kitchen remodel which included new cabinets, countertops, tile backsplash, and tile flooring. We gave Mark a must have start and end date and he finished early. He worked in a clean, safe, and professional manner. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a skilled carpenter in all phases of home improvement.

Jeremy White is a skilled craftsman who is particular about details, does exceptional work and is a perfectionist. I give him my highest recommendation..he is rebuilding problem areas at my house perfectly, has resolved leaks that I have had others try and fix in the past with no luck. My advice is call a carpenter first, and be sure it's Jeremy White

I've spent countless hours reading customer reviews, canvassing contractor's website, viewing multiple social media platforms in search of a carpenter that meets my criteria which is honest, skilled/knowledgeable, trustworthy, clean and considerate. Basically I was looking for a professional who would listen to what I wanted and then do it. I have found this request extremely difficult to achieve. Ergo, I will try to further describe my expectations and ultimately the carpenter I found, Frank Altieri of Altieri Construction who not only meet my criteria but also exceeded my wildest dreams by transforming my space into the beautiful, relaxing, serene room it was meant to be. A carpenter who would treat (e.g., not track mud throughout my house, unnecessary dirty hands on walls, using a drop cloth to place tools on instead of my hardwood floor) my home/items in it with respect. Frank placed drop clothes- CLEAN drop clothes throughout my house. He used plastic to cover areas a drop cloth couldn't be used. One rainy day his crew needed to come in & out of my house multiple times, walking through a muddy patch each time. His crew took the time to take on & off booties (cloth cover wraps) so that my floors would not get destroyed. These are the little things to me that make all the difference in the world. A carpenter who was as considerate of my time as they are of their own. Now having said that, I am very familiar with the day to day scheduling difficulties a tradesmans encounters due to the inability to predict the length of time each job may be. I understand the many variables (e.g., having to leave a job to get a part, delays at stores when buying materials, having to load & unload materials, setting up & breaking down jobs, travel time, traffic, discussion with customers that take longer then expected, having to get fuel, pulling off road to take a call, etc.) a tradesman must deal with. Although I understand these challenges, the tradesman I hire must be one that is considerate enough to call/text if the time needs to be changed. The office staff with Altieri Construction did contact me prior to my schedule job start date to inform me of a conflict and that we would need to reschedule. My job ended up being delayed for almost 2 weeks because of commitments on both of our ends. I have to admit I did understand but of course I was disappointed. I wanted my job done yesterday I was ready to go why wasn't he? Then I realized the world does not revolve around me and although I was hiring Altieri Construction I did not own them. So I waited and once the wait was over well... I WAS TICKLED PINK, ON TOP OF THE WORLD, OVER THE MOON, HAPPY AS A CLAM, ON CLOUD NINE IN SEVENTH HEAVEN. The job Altieri Construction did left me speechless! It was amazing and exactly what I asked for! Mr. Altieri prior to the start of my job explained in detail the steps/process involved, I must admit I can not recall these details but that is why he is the expert, the skilled & knowledgeable tradesman and I am not. I am the customer, the more than satisfied customer who can honestly say, Every cent I spent was worth it and that is a gratifying feeling! Frank Altieri, the owner of Altieri Construction was honest, he did exactly what he said he would which was exactly what I asked. They were trustworthy, clean and considerate. The areas of my house they were not working on were left just the same as the day before they arrived. Anyone searching for a carpenter/handyman? I strongly recommend: Frank Altieri, owner of Altieri Construction of Trumbull, CT www.altiericonstruction.com Phone: 203-449-4581 Email: altiericonstruction@yahoo.com

Johnny's team custom built an outdoor studio shed for me! As a work from home entrepreneur, I needed to separate home from professional life. I explained my vision to Johnny and he created a blueprint from scratch. His team was top notch. They were professional, courteous, and hard working. The shed looks amazing. I use it as my office. If you are looking for a carpenter who goes above and beyond to please his customers, Johnny is your man.

I have used Dupree Carpentry many times for repairs and updates in my house. I feel that Mr. Dupree is very professional and knowledgable. He shows up on the agreed upon time and/ or is flexible and will work with your schedule. He is extremely knowledgable and has saved me ALOT!!!! of money and time. Knowing a little about the field, I have felt him to be honest and forthcoming when adding on to a job (for safety or cohesiveness of the over-all job) Ultimately I will always use Dupree Carpentry for any of my home projects no matter how big or small, and I highly recommend anyone in the tri-state area in need of an outstanding carpenter using him as well.

About

I began working as a carpenter in 1976, doing construction and carpentry. Over the years, I honed my skills as a finished carpenter to become one of the top artisans in the Connecticut area. Though my skills allow me to do anything in construction, my favorite areas to work in are building custom cabinets, carpentry designs and trim work. I also only use furniture-grade materials on all of my cabinets. Please feel free to browse the photos above, and contact me if you have any questions. My customers favorite tag line for me is: " The cleanest contractor around with 30 years of exceptional experience." My work includes all phases of construction, with expertise in cabinet making, trim work, stairways, ballisters and window/door installations, but my skills do not end there as I can do tiling, painting, foundations, decks, fences, railing, flooring and so much more. Please check out my website for examples of some of my work.
