I would highly recommend Dave Robles for guitar lessons. He taught two of my daughters, from age 6 to age 12. He is both a professional educator and musician. He builds a rapport with the kids, and keeps them interested by letting them have input into the kind of music they're learning. He is reliable and organized, and provided a tabbed binder with sections for notes, theory and music. I recommended Dave to the after school enrichment program at our elementary school because he did such a good job teaching my girls, and I would highly recommend him for all ages.
I have been taking guitar lessons from Pete for about 5 years now. The 5 years that I have been getting lessons have been a really good and I have learned so much about the guitar. Firstly, when I first started I was starting from scratch and had absolutely no idea on how to play. But now im able to play with pretty good speed and keep up with the fast songs. His teaching style I believe is very good and easy to understand, helping you excell in whatever you are doing. And it' not boring at all. Each lesson I have had, I have at least laughed a couple of times. So overall he is a great teacher who I would recommend to anyone if they were looking to learn the guitar or any other instrument he teaches.
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.
Tommy has been an amazing guitar, bass, and audio engineering teacher. Recently, we've been working together on some college auditions involving jazz bass, which I knew little of in terms of techniques and terminology. With Tommy's help, I've learned what would have taken me forever, and I feel a lot better about the audition process.
Over the coarse of 6 or so years Chris Schreiner has given me countless one on one bass lessons. Not only is he a personable guy, he always finds inventive ways to help a student succeed; Professionalism (on time, proper equipment, and real life experience), clear articulation (Terminology and Explanations), and positive attitude will not only encourage you but motivate you to do well. His versatility is also a plus. He has no problem catering to peoples musical needs no matter how far out it may be. All in all, great guy, great teacher!
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Mike for the past eight years. The valuable lessons she has learned from Mike while learning to play guitar were applicable to playing violin for her school. Learning how to practice, reading and writing music, playing a song by ear, understanding difficult rhythms, and being exposed to a variety of genres are just a few examples of the valuable lessons she learned over the years. Mike also recorded her playing her grandfather's favorite song so she could give it to him as a gift. My daughter has learned to love music and we have Mike to thank for that. I have also had the pleasure of learning how to play guitar through Mike. We both feel our time with Mike is always well spent.
I had always wanted to learn how to play guitar ever since I could remember. I was a late starter- 23- before I finally decided to really give it an honest try. Andy convinced me at the very beginning that it's never too late to start and his students were of all ages- children to adult, so I had nothing to worry about. His continuous encouragement was one of the reasons I stuck through the harder beginning lessons when I was struggling. He was extremely patient and would make sure to keep the classes entertaining and upbeat, so that even learning the basics was fun. It's easy to get the "beginner's blues" and quit early if you don't catch on right away, but he pushed me through it until I got the hang of it- and had me laughing the whole way. As I began to improve and could start to experiment more, Andy was great about changing the curriculum to meet my wants and needs. He always made sure to make me practice the basics of course, but we made sure to balance it with songs and music that I personally loved and wanted to play. I would choose the 'extra' books to bring in and often even brought in sheet music of popular songs. If the song was too complicated for my musical level, he would find a way to make it work and break it down for me to learn. Overall, Andy was the best music teacher I've ever had and I've played a variety of instruments over the years. His positive attitude and genuine love of music makes the experience that much better. I would highly recommend him for anyone in any range because he's very good at what he does. If you want to learn how to play guitar, he'll make it happen.
Really great guitar player and teacher
Dennis is extremely helpful in teaching to the student's needs. Whatever you are interested in learning he is able to give great insight, as he has a wide knowledge of music and guitar. He is also very friendly, and will take time to make sure you are able to understand what he teaches.
Jeff is a focused and professional teacher. After only our first meeting, I had a clear understanding of the path I would be taking toward my goal of guitar proficiency. I was impressed by the many stringed instruments surrounding me and even more impressed by the videos of Jeff playing them on his website. Even at this early stage of my musical journey, I would not hesitate to recommend Jeff as a music teacher.
Rob is a brilliant player and brilliant teacher. His knowledge of guitar playing and the music industry is truly impressive. Great guy too!
When I struggled to get the technique right, he not only showed a lot of patience, but he tried various methods of explaining/demonstrating the lesson until I got it. After a little bit of practice, the piece that I struggled with through the first half of my lesson feels like second nature to play. I highly recommend Blackledge Guitar Institute for guitar lessons, no matter what level you're at.
Ace comes to our lessons on time, and with a plan. She remembers what I've been practicing, and knows how to get me to the next level. She gives me her full attention for the whole time we're in the lesson, and when it's time to wrap it up, she leaves me with clear assignments for how to practice and what to practice - and it's always something fun, challenging and yet attainable that makes me want to come back to my instrument. Ace makes it fun to work hard at getting better.
My son was bored with guitar because his previous teacher only did "book work." Mike asked my son what type of music and songs he liked, and used them to teach him his chords and eventually apply what he learned to any song. My son has learned to read music as well as pick up the song just by listening. Mike is a patient and passionate music teacher!
I began my study of guitar in 2002, learning from a jazz guitarist who's established in the local music scene. My musical training continued through college when, in 2008, I began studying music at Northeastern University, majoring in music with a concentration in history and analysis. While at Northeastern, I took guitar lessons from faculty and performed in the University's Jazz Choir as well as its blues rock ensemble. Simultaneously, I gained experience in teaching guitar, working at a music and youth initiative music clubhouse. At the music clubhouse, I acted as a mentor and guitar teacher to the under-served youth.
I am looking to teach people how to get started up to some more advanced topic by making the material easy to understand .
