Allow me to preface my remarks by stating that I am not an experienced cook or student of the culinary arts. I do enjoy good food and delight in learning how it is made by real cooks. I happen to be a scientist of sorts and love to learn about the "science" as well as the "art" of cooking. I have had the pleasure of taking many cooking classes with my wife at Culinaria Cooking School and have simply rejoiced in taking classes from Marilena Leavitt. She is not only lovely and gracious but is simply a fascinating and delightful teacher. She teaches from the heart and laces her classes with pleasant stories of her early cooking experiences in Mediterranean kitchens. She makes everyone in her classes comfortable with good humor and has a terrific teaching style of both culinary arts as well as culinary techniques. I have never seen anything but big smiles upon the faces of her students as we depart from class. And the recipes are ones that we cannot wait to make at home.

About

Chef Matt is absolutely amazing! I have been using his personal chef services and I can honestly say that he has been a blessing in our life. I first learned about Chef Matt on an online community of moms in Old Town, Alexandria. Because I had a small baby and no time to cook, I decided to order our Thanksgiving meal from him. I was so happy I did – the food was absolutely fantastic and everyone at the dinner table raved about it. In fact, it was the best Thanksgiving meal that I have ever had. Since then I have been ordering from him on a regular basis. Chef Matt’s food is fresh, healthy and out-of-this-world delicious. His recipes are very diverse and incorporate a lot of international influences, which I love. Everyone in my home is so excited when we get the food from Chef Matt. I wish I knew about him long time ago, especially after we had our baby and struggled with finding the time to cook. I know that he teaches cooking classes and I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to learn how to cook amazing food directly from Chef Matt. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for personal chef services!

I hired Nourrie Cuisine for my mother’s birthday party and it was wonderful. They worked with me to find the right balance of items and the appropriate portion sizes for the event. The spread was perfect both in size and flavor for this crowd, who sincerely appreciated everything: The entire family adored a variety of finger sandwiches. The tartlets and potato skins were huge hits too. Moreover, Nourrie Cuisine’s prepared meals are especially ideal. To have fresh, delicious, locally made meals prepared in advance greatly improves my week. (The comfort of a homemade meal without work—or dishes!) Not only can I look forward to these tasty dinners, they are easy to reheat with specific oven and microwave instructions (plus their containers are both oven- AND microwave-safe.) I have yet to encounter a meal I don’t love—the Rosemary Braised Seitan might be my favorite so far. The Stroganoff is a close second. I look forward to many more.

Chef Evan prepared a magnificent Middle-Eastern-themed dinner for us. We started with a blue cheese/yogurt dip and crackers, with crumbled cheese. light mayo, light greek yogurt, salt and pepper and garlic , The main course was falafel and tabouleh. Both were excellent. The falafel was seasoned just right and was surprisingly moist. The tabouleh incorporated red bell peppers in lieu of tomatoes, which I had never seen before, but the peppers enhanced the flavor. The wine and place settings were perfect accompaniments. I can't wait to sample more of Evan's cooking, and recommend him wholeheartedly!

I love working with Anna. Her menus are creative and always delicious. In addition, she makes the entire process so easy as she brings everything with her and cleans everything up allowing you to focus on your guests. She has a great personality and is never an intrusion when she is creating her masterpieces in the kitchen. I have used her multiple times now and plan to use her for any and all future catering events!

About

The group cooking class was great! Show Me How met us at the market first for some great tips on shopping and discussion of the ingredients that would be used in the lesson. Lots of very useful information was gained. Then back at the kitchen we learned how to cook a bundle of different dishes in the Thai cuisine using the same group of ingredients that was purchased. I still can't believe how much we learned how to cook in one evening - not to mention we all asked a million questions about cooking in general and learned even more than just Thai Cuisine. All four of us had a great time and would absolutely recommend a cooking class from Show Me How.

About

I was being trained by Catherine years ago and I said something about " No pain, no gain " as she corrected my posture during the routine. She quickly said that no one should experience "pain" when working out. I knew then that I had FINALLY found a REAL trainer. Catherine's training and professional skills are unmatched. She simply loves doing what she does and it shows. She trains you according to your skill level and ability, and she is never distracted by today's tech gadgets ,( cellphones) which means you get 100% of her time, every time. I moved out of state for a short time and invited Catherine down for a visit and workout of course. she could not out run me on the beach, but she whipped my butt in the gym , but they were good workouts. Later on during her visit, she took me to the market and taught me how to properly shop for quality organic foods , and quickly made a knock out dish for me and my friend as we looked on and took notes. I moved back to the DMV area, reconnected with her and now I am receiving weekly healthy meals from her. Boy is that a relief. And knowing that she is a certified nutritionist only adds to her credibility. In short, if you are looking for true quality in a trainer as well as someone too cook healthy meals for you, Catherine is the hands down choice and that's why I give her 5 stars. Keep up the good work Catherine. Mark Stith Silver Spring, MD

Wow. I can't say enough about this guy! This will be a horrible review - don't read it. I am hesitant to even write a review as I don't want him to have any other student but me! :) First, Tony was awesome to talk to initially- so easy going. Then we booked a time on the phone, he confirmed. He was on time (early even as I told him I was home all day). He started our class by saying: "Today we are going to cook like our grandmothers and great-grandmothers cooked," he's Greek and I'm Italian. "Cooking should be fun. Relax." He had a complete menu planned for me to learn - we were adventurous and covered many items: We made fresh cheese, we made tzatziki - the best I ever had, even in Athens and Mykonos - and "I" made it. We made hummus, we made rustic bread, we made Papoutsakia ( I think that's the name ) - eggplant stuffed with ground beef covered in Mornay Sauce. Yes, we made one of the Mother Sauces from scratch in my first class. Boy, my arm hurts from stirring. We didn't use recipes and mostly we didn't measure most ingredients. As we used ingredients he asked me: Do you know how this cheese is made? Do you know where this is from? Do you know WHY we do this? As we made each dish, he taught me techniques like properly slicing, dicing and mincing the onion. He is also a true food historian and an amazing person. The food was incredible and he was awesome. Another thing that made me skeptical about him (don't hire him) is I THOUGHT he had an aversion to garlic. Who doesn't love garlic! He didn't put enough into the dishes, or so I thought. He said: " Wait. This will become stronger as it sits." I didn't listen. He was absolutely right, however, I no longer have problems with Vampires. :) I have had the privilege to have many home cooking classes and private chefs cook for me and I have a nice kitchen setup - but this experience blew my mind. You can not go wrong with this man. (But don't hire him.) One other thing that caught my attention: Even though I had a few life distractions and had to take a call here and there or answer the door for the Fedex® guy - he NEVER looked at his watch or was distracted. I consider Tony a true friend already and will be seeing him for another class in less than 24 hours. I can't wait and won't sleep in anticipation. I hope this review makes you stay far away from this man! (Do not hire him, he's all mine! :) I'm giddy just thinking about our menu for tomorrow which includes a Greek version of bruschetta with imported bread that he got for me from the Greek grocery, tomatoes, and the homemade cheese that we made that is hanging in my Subzero now. Plus, grilled spatchcock Peri-Peri Chicken, Caesar Salad (my request, I want to perfect it) and a Greek Baked Potato which sounds amazing and I can't pronounce (yet). We'll end with Ginger Blood Orange Granita. I'm sure I am leaving something out - Tony really pushes you to shine. In conclusion, this is the WORST instructor on the planet, and you should NOT hire him (unless you want to learn A LOT, have loads of FUN, and make a wonderful FRIEND). Kudos to The Greek Chef. UNAVAILBLE FOR HIRE :)

Annie exceeded every expectation. Not only were here culinary skills exceptional, she added several special touches that made this our best Anniversary meal yet. She can customize the menu for any dietary restriction, and actually prefers to do so. We highly recommend Annie for any occasion and only hope that we can do it again! Delicious food, exceptional service. She cooked a 6 course meal in our home kitchen. She homemade everything she could from bread and butter down to picking the first baby lettuce leaves from her garden. I don't want to give away her tricks, but there were several surprises throughout the night that showed how much she cares about her craft.

Chef Christoper Mcavoy is a passionate and talented chef who makes delicious meals. He has come to our home and exploded in our kitchen with all the necessary equipment and items to create mouth watering dishes. He does need a lot of room to spread out but always cleans everything up before he leaves. The house smells so good you feel like you are in an episode of one of the Cooking Shows, watching him prepare foods and dishes, juggling several things at once, and always turning out finished meals that taste wonderful. He is polite, straight forward and open to ideas. He is a bit hard on the stove top as he usually has numerous things cooking at the same time along with the oven going. But the house smells wonderful. The meals are usually large in quantity and always high in quality. He has definitely broadened our palate and introduced us to many new foods. He cooks with organic, natural and the freshest items, which sometimes makes him late in arriving, but always top shelf. We would definitely recommend him to others.

Hi. My name is Apple, and I'm an executive chef. I travel throughout the US preparing delicious gourmet meals, and teaching cooking classes to my many clients (celebrities, musicians, world leaders, and ambassadors). I have an extremely wide portfolio of culinary flavours. These are the different cuisines I am well-versed in, and learned from chefs of these countries/regions on how to prepare authentically (Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, East and West Indian, Caribbean, Spanish, French and Italian). I love food and using quality ingredients, and can be found many days schlepping to farmers' markets to see what's in stock and season. Many of my customers love me for the simple fact, that I give them what they ask for, with a little extra on top. I go above and beyond my requirements as your chef. I believe wholeheartedly that the beginning of any great relationship is over amazing food, and that's what I create - amazing food! * Personal and private chef service * In-home cooking lessons * Kitchen organization * Pantry stocking and setup * Personal grocery shopping * Romantic dinners for two * Nutritional consultation for special dietary situations * Creatively themed catered parties (any occasion you can think of from 2-22 and beyond)
