How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.

How much do math tutors cost?

Math is a subject that’s challenging for many students. Fortunately, home math tutors can help students excel in math by working with them in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions. The cost for math tutors varies based on the type of math, the expertise and experience of the tutor, and geographic location. Pricing may range between $40 and $100 per hour, depending on the math subject. As a rule, the more complex the subject matter, the more the math tutor will charge for the lessons. The cost reflects the math tutor’s advanced studies and the work required for them to be able to teach on the subject. Frequency can also affect costs. Students can buy packages of lessons for a lower cost per session than buying individually. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a geometry home tutor is $50-$60. The national average rate for an algebra home tutor is $40-$50 per hour. For generalized math tutors, the national average ranges between $40 and $50 per hour. More intensive standardized test prep studies and math tutoring average $70-$100 per hour.

How much does home tutoring cost?

I needed help getting over my math anxieties and actaully learning some of the many different concepts of math. I reached out to a few tutors and found that Ronald was very knowledgeable and on his game. Ronald is dedicated and professional. We setup a few sessions which went great. He makes it seem easy and have you buying into mastering math. I learned a lot and I am no longer afraid of math. If it wasn't for Ronald's help, I wouldn't been able to pass my exam. Those study sessions paid off. A part of me now loves math. Thanks Ronald! I really appreciate you. This tutor is legit!

My daughter needed help with understanding difficult concepts she experienced with her elementary school math homework. Although this is not a grade level he normally tutors, Chris was very patient and explained things in a way that my daughter understood.

My daughter was nervous about having a “male” tutor, but he was absolutely amazing. She learned a lot and he was able to break it down in a way for her to understand. We have had 2 tutoring sessions so far and she took her first math quiz and she did better than expected. Definitely worth it! I highly recommend him

My daughter have been seeing this tutor on & off for a year now. At first she was really nice and i loved her services. On one particular time i called her to set an appointment, we made an aggreement to meet that Sunday morning. I told her this session was very important to me because my daughter were behind in her math work, needed help in a lot of areas & that i needed her to get a math book to work from that was on my daughter 4th grade level. Come Sunday, Miriam sends me a text telling me shes at the book store & that the store didnt have the book. I replied no problem ill buy the book next time. Remind you we set this appoint a week prior and i called out from work because this tutor session was very important especially since SAT testing were approaching. Ten minutes after that text she sends me a message cancelling our tutor session saying she doesn't feel well and she's been sick since this morning. First, if you are sick why not mention that in the first place. Than i sends her a text back giving telling her i hope she feels better and to please call me so we can reschedule. Never received a call, she continues to text saying No, i cant make it either way its traffic anyways. This later have been so unprofessional on this day. I've been spending my hard earned $40 an hour with her and she couldn't give me a call. Than my daughter got use to her and she showed no symphony. Here it is a month later, no call, no apology, no asking how my daughter is doing in math. So yes i had to fire this lady. Unprofessional. She only makes time for people that important to her. She doesnt care about the kids and learning. Im very disappointed. Now im here searching for a good, reliable tutor.
