Do your research! Look at all material the teacher has made available. A good reputation is earned over time. Not only should the lessons be fun, the student should actually learn how to play. Try different teachers. Most teachers offer the first lesson for free. Take a free lesson from each. When choosing a guitar teacher you should expect the teacher to know what he or she is doing. If all the teacher can offer is to teach his or her favorite song then try another teacher. However, if the instructor can help you grow as guitar player and at the same time teach you your favorite songs, then your on the road to great fun!
