We're starting our Spanish lessons in January, when all the holiday hulabaloo is over. . . I can hardly wait! My teacher was quite responsive, quite friendly, and quite professional. We might even get into French before it's over!

I'm a new student of Ms. Connie and she is a fantastic teacher! She is very encouraging and teaches in a relaxed and fun way, which I believe is one of the most important qualities in a teacher. When I first met her I could tell she absolutely loves teaching! Looking forward to many lessons with Ms. Connie!

Deborah is such an amazing teacher. She is a very hands-on instructor which is a wonderful quality when working with children. I could tell that she thought about each lesson and always had a great activity for the children. Deborah is FILLED with creativity, energy, and heartfelt love for the the people she works with. We felt very privileged and honored to be able to have Deborah in our lives.

Gail is a great teacher. She understands your goal and she works with you to achieve it. I'm Italian, and we are working specifically on accent reduction and pronunciation. I have taken many English classes in my life, but nobody has ever taught me how to speak better and sound better in English.

My voice lessons with Rose began in March 2012 and I’m happy to say that she is still my preferred teacher 3 years later. I began as a very self-conscious student afraid to really sing out and let my voice be heard. From the very beginning, Rose made me feel comfortable. In addition to her humble attitude, she has a true gift of meeting the singer where they are. She takes a genuine interest in a student treating them as the individual and unique person that they are while offering plenty of encouragement and support. The techniques I’ve learned from her are tried and true practices that have noticeably improved my voice and boosted my confidence as a singer. Each lesson is unique depending on what I am working on each week, and our practice session is always full of skills and techniques for me to use and practice for the next lesson. Improved projection, stronger breath support, fostering my unique voice, and incorporating the importance of portraying the emotion of a song by feeling it in my body as I sing are just some of the ways her teachings have developed my skills as a singer. We properly warm up the voice at the beginning of every lesson. Rose listens closely during the warm up session and gives feedback where necessary, even if it means going back through the exercise again in order for the student to experience the difference. Rose brings her love for music to every lesson by suggesting songs from various genres ranging from theatrical pieces, ballads, pop songs, duets, and more. One of my favorite things about our lesson is how she puts in the time to learn the song I choose on either the piano or her guitar so that I can also experience singing with a musical instrument and at the same time develop ear training. If you are nervous about singing or have always wanted to sing but don’t know think you could cut it, you have to schedule a lesson with Rose. She will meet you where you are and at the same time challenge and shape you with patience, humor, and expertise. Every lesson is worth it.

About

Hard question to answer. As far as I'm aware, I only consider the comfortability of the student at hand. Based on how they react, if they've had previous lessons, I can assess the situation, repair and move on to better things: playing the guitar/instrument.

My classes are very "interactive." I use a lot of visual and kinesthetic learning activities to keep my students stimulated and interested in the subject material. I get the students to see that English CAN be fun and not a struggle. I help them to overcome their obstacles and fears by playing learning games, role play, group and thing-pair-share activities, class discussions, debates, and various other interactive learning activities that "actively" engage the students in learing the English language.:-)

As a native speaker in Spanish, as well as the Miss America pageant winner for the ESL program, I grew up in a Spanish speaking household in an English speaking county. I've been able to pick up several other languages without lessons have assisted various individuals of ages ranging from young to not so young, achieve their desired goals. Since both languages are fluent to me and each individual's goals are different, I review the areas of desire, need or requirements. I then evaluate where any skill gaps may exist, assist in assuring that they not only catch up but understand in order to continue advancement. I am patient, understanding, meticulous and will make the learning experience to be exciting, in order to create motivation. I can work with groups or on a one on one basis.

I have been a practicing speech/language pathologist for 28 years. I was raised in a military family and have been exposed to a multitude of cultures and accents. I have a "talent" for adopting any accent of anyone with whom I am speaking. I, therefore, am able to easily design a plan to assist individuals in decreasing their accent and increase speech intelligibility.
