I had a great experience working with Dell and his team. He was able to start the job on short notice and had the tree (30+ft palm tree) and stump cut and removed within 3-4 hours. I would definitely recommend D&D if you're looking for someone with very competitive prices and quality work.

This company did a great job cutting our hedge and trimming our palm tree. They also did a great job cleaning up. The only negative I could say was the total was slightly more than the estimate due to the palm needing more trimming than expected.

Installed about 500 sft of lawn and trimmed a large tree in front. The sod installation was good except that the crew did not adjust for the sprinkler heads and I had to do that myself and cut around it. They also suppose to put some weed inhibitor onto soil before installing new sod which they done after and only after I inquired about it. However, the sod they delivered was of excellent quality. The tree trimming took a long time because they had faulty saws and chains. Their truck for the hall away was too small and there was a lot of excess debris on the new lawn when it was all done. I would have given 5 stars but there were just a few little things that were unimpressive.

These guys did a tremendous job creating a border for my back yard enclosing an area of trees next to the pool. The river rocks and border accent the area perfectly! Very glad to work with Andres and his father - this is a family business worth hiring!

Elias Landscaping - Dave and the team - were absolutely great. Responsive, attentive, professional, even coming by the night before the job to see the site. Had a large tree removed the next day. Everything completed on time and well done, and with a full knowledge of health and safety given that we live on a public pathway. Thanks Elias landscaping!

They do a fairly good job, but not very reliable. We are still waiting since last year to have a tree cut down from the back of the building. It took months to get a quote, we finally got the quote on November 2016, but the tree is still standing.

It is very hard to find tree cutters who are professional and work very well. I tried other local companies for estimate. Do NOT HIRE the company Trees In Need, run by Herman Smith, they give a cheap estimate but are highly unprofessional and will take half the money upfront and you dont know if they will even show up or leave the work unfinished and won't pick their phones after they get their money. Prestige Landscape and Carlos did not take any money upfront, they said they will take upon completion of satisfactory work and thats how it happened. They have professional workers who know what they are doing and they take great care in saving other valuable trees on the way while they cut the trees. Most other companies will destroy all other trees that come on their way. They have their own bobcat, lift and their own mulcher to mulch your cut branches so you can use the mulch for your garden. The estimate was also reasonable. I think overall they did a good job. I am attaching pictures. But there is room for improvement. The pay was per project so i didnt mind if they take a day or two days and the work was a lot. It was getting dark after the day's work so workers were hurrying up. I saw that they wanted to clean up the land , they took big branches away but had left small branches and leaves and i needed to clean the floor/land myself the other day. Other than this it was a very nice work and will hire them again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
