Brandt Adams says, "I initially reached out to Unique Construction to have a wooden deck modified on my main floor overlooking the back yard. Antonio and his team did an absolutely fantastic job. The quality of work and attention to detail were outstanding. Not only was it great quality, but the team was efficient in their work and they checked to make sure I was completely satisfied before they cleaned up the area. After seeing how great the deck turned out, I hired them again to install a fence around our property since we were having a pool put in by another contractor.Unfortunately, the pool contractor did a very poor job. After completing our beautiful fence, The pool company was supposed to manage their subcontractors and the end to end project, but I decided to hired Antonio and his team to step in and GC/supervise the pool construction because Im not a pool or concrete professional. Hiring them was a Godsend, and allowed me to feel confident the pool effort quality would be brought up to the level I expected.Antonio quickly identified major issues and had the pool company jackhammer out the improperly installed concrete patio at no additional cost to us and completely repour the 1,300 sq. ft. deck. He managed the entire process, was on-site during the repour to ensure it was done correctly, and ultimately saw the entire pool project through to completion. After that, we continued working with Antonio and his team on additional projects, including retaining walls, an irrigation system, sod installation, and veneering the pools concrete wall with natural stone. Everything came out spectacularly.Antonio and his team are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and detail oriented. I highly recommend Unique Construction for any project, youll be in great hands.I will be working with them on other projects in the future."See more

Locate the best deck contractor in Atlanta by utilizing Thumbtack’s directory of local professionals.

Once you’ve selected a few professionals, contact them for quotes and estimates. Choose a contractor with a favorable reputation and pricing.

You’ll find top-rated carpenters in Atlanta by searching online. The type of carpenter you need will depend on your project or the repairs you require. For example, if you need framing on your house, look for a framing contractor. Or, search for a cabinet maker to build or repair custom cabinetry, and hire a trim or finish carpenter to put the finishing details on your new home. You can also hire a general contractor to coordinate your carpentry work.

To ensure you hire the best pro for the job, ask them if they have any credentials. This can include a license or other certifications. And, make sure you compare prices in Atlanta by requesting free estimates from at least three carpenters.

A porch may increase your home’s value and boost its curb appeal. However, you’ll need to do your research to understand what types of home upgrades can attract potential buyers.

It costs about $5,000-$10,000 to build a small, basic porch, according to HGTV. Prefabricated porches typically cost around $10,000-$30,000. Larger, custom-made porches can cost as much as $50,000.

To find out exactly how much your porch will cost, request a cost estimate from a porch builder near you.

Yes, your porch should have a foundation that adheres to your local building codes. You can often find this information online. You can also consult your porch builder and ask for their help when navigating building codes.

A sleeping porch is a screened balcony or deck that contains sleep furnishings and cool breezes. If you live in a region that experiences warm weather at night, these porches can provide a way to escape the heat and get a good night’s sleep.

The cost of building a new deck or porch is $1,500. However, this price can vary depending on a few different factors. The square footage of the space, the type of materials to be used, the intricacy of the project and your specific region can cause the price to fluctuate. A back deck may (or may not) increase your home’s value or attract potential buyers if you’re looking to sell. According to the Remodeling Impact Report: Outdoor Features, a new wood deck with an estimated construction cost of $10,000 recovered $8,000 for the overall recovery of 80%. Still, 9% of realtors suggested that home sellers should add a new wood deck before putting their home on the market, and 4% said this project has helped closed deals.

The impact of adding a new deck will likely depend on its material (wood, composite, etc.) and where you live. For example, if you live in an area where people rarely spend time outside because of the weather, it’s reasonable to predict that prospective home buyers might not rate a deck highly on their list of must-haves when looking for a new home.

When in doubt, consult with your realtor or a real estate expert to figure out if adding a new deck to your home is the right move to increase your home’s value. If it is, contact the best deck contractors near you to get free estimates and start planning your project.

If you don’t have the skills, experience and qualifications, building a deck may be difficult for you to do on your own.

Structural integrity is key when constructing anything, but especially something you plan to have your family and friends use regularly. The safety of the structure takes careful planning and experience.

Professional contractors have the knowledge to make a safe, beautiful deck for you. They also know the proper permits and insurance required to legally build a new deck or remodel a porch in your city.

When in doubt, contact the best deck contractors near you and start getting free estimates today.

Carpenters are trained to work with wood. That means that any part of your home that is built of wood is very likely to involve a carpenter. Framing carpenters will put up the wood that makes up the bones of your home. If you’re having a wood floor installed, it may be done by a carpenter — although being a carpenter is not a requirement to install flooring. Trim, baseboards, wainscoting and any other detail work is typically installed by a finish carpenter. The wood boxes of custom cabinets will be built and installed by a carpenter.

Although all of these components in your new or remodeled home are built by carpenters who specialize in building things with wood, a general contractor typically oversees construction of the entire house. If the general contractor is also a carpenter skilled in all these areas, they may well construct your entire home. More often, the general contractor subcontracts out the various building stages to different individuals, including carpenters.
