When I came to Dave Lockwood for guitar lessons, I was struggling in kind of a self-taught rut. I could play chords for a lot of songs, but I didn't know the theory or anything you would call "advanced". Dave's methods show you how to understand the fretboard and why certain notes and chords go together. He is really helping me become a complete player. Mostly though, Dave is a very patient teacher. He doesn't mind going over the same material with you until you understand it and he'll take different approaches until you get it. I really appreciate this about his teaching methods.

Eric has been my 11 year old daughter's guitar teacher for several years. We can't imagine taking guitar from anyone else. He is laid back, kind, and easy to work with. He's funny and relates both to kids and adults. Eric always tries to find music my daughter enjoys and mixes her lessons up so it never gets mundane. If we need a make up, he's more than accommodating. I cannot sing his praises enough!

I have been taking lessons from Ryan for about 10 months now and each week I see myself growing and sharpening my skill. I took guitar lessons when I was a teenager, but I wanted to get back at it and take my talents to the next level. We restarted my training and went from the building blocks of scales to the formation of modes. Now I am almost to a point where I can play any scale and mode horizontally and vertically up the neck of the guitar. He's a brilliant instructor who finds the best method of teaching for each student. Looking forward to taking more lessons with him. We even do Skype lessons since I moved out of the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area! Happy Shredding! -Andrew Briggs

I took guitar lessons from Parker for over 4 years. The only reason that I stopped was because he moved away to complete his Masters degree at University of Texas. When I started my lessons with Parker I had not touched my guitar in over 30 years. Parker had me up and comfortable playing very quickly. Within about three months I had joined a rock band playing rhythm guitar and a year later I started my own band playing lead guitar. I could not have done this without Parker's amazing ability to help me learn new songs and playing techniques quickly. Parker has a great ear for music and can figure out songs/chords that others can't get. I cannot recommend Parker more strongly. A great musician, teacher, and a genuinely nice guy!

About

I've been taking guitar lessons from Jim Coley for a couple of years now. I was self taught on "cowboy chords" and decided in my mid 40's I wanted to learn different styles, be able to read tabs and learn more about the structure of sheet music. Jim's teaching style has made this challenge a fun and enjoyable learning experience. The selection of music and lessons he works with me on has tremendous range and style from Classic Rock, Latin, Funk, Jazz, Blues and more. I would highly recommend some sessions with Jim. It has been and continues to be a great experience.

Karl did an amazing job at our wedding ceremony and reception! He pulled together a trio so we could have a small (and afforable) band at our reception and played a great selection of music. He was also very flexible with accomodating requests and customizing our playlist. I'd hire him again in a second!

Frank gave my daughter guitar lessons in our home. He was great with the basics: finger technique, chord progression, etc... But Frank also encouraged my daughter to follow her musical interests, she played what she wanted to play, in addition to the pieces that Frank believed would help her become a more technically strong guitarist. This developed her appreciation and love for playing.

We hired Joseph as the Violinist for our semi-formal New Years Eve party this year, which consisted of 200 guest. The initial consultation with Joseph was very professional, and he provided a clear presentation of his past experience and references as they related to our event. He was very patient with understanding our expectations and was very open to our schedule and musical selections. He was very punctual, very engaging, and delivered an amazing performance on piano and violin. The performances were the highlight of the evening. I look forward to working with him in the future and would definitely recommend him for any event.

About

Hello! My name is Matt Johnson, and I would love to be able to share my passion for music with you. Whether you want to learn to play and sing your favorite songs for your friends, or work on writing and creating your own music, I'm your man. I've been performing music from a very early age, and I still regularly perform at music venues in and around Atlanta with my band, The Dirty Souls. As a singer and songwriter, I am heavily influenced by all types of music, and I believe that good musicians are usually influenced by several different genres. I think that it is important to learn what you love, so I like to ask my students what interests them musically before planning lessons. If you're interested in songwriting, I would love to share what I've learned to help your inspiration become a reality. I also am a firm believer that it is never too early or too late to find your voice in music, so I am open to students of all different ages. So, if you are looking to have a blast learning and playing music together, please contact me to set up your first lesson. Matt

About

I am a guitar player who has studied the guitar program at The Atlanta Institute of Music. Through my education and experiences in teaching over the last 5 years, and writing music/performing on a weekly basis, I have developed a method of teaching that I feel is the easiest way to learn music and the guitar. The key is to spend at least 10 minutes a day with your guitar for several months. This keeps the lessons fresh in the student's mind, and builds the necessary relationship between the student and his/her instrument. I have plenty of references, and it's easy enough to find videos of my band/me online. I love my job, and feel very good about sharing my love for music and the guitar to any and all who seek the rewards of this fascinating instrument.

About

Does your child enjoy music? If so, then it is important not to squelch that flame. If your child found an instrument that he/she truly enjoys and excels at, would you support and encourage him/her to learn that instrument? As a professional teacher, I can tell you that it is possible for anybody to learn an instrument if he/she has a good teacher, somebody to support him/her, and he/she is using his/her natural strengths. Would you like to discover the best path for your child? Within 20 minutes, a key music assessment will shine a light on the path that will give your child the best chance for a lifetime of enjoyment and benefits that come with learning an instrument. The first steps we take often determine our success. A wrong start can lead a child into a class that demands too much from a skill set that is not yet developed. All the student knows is that he/she is struggling and could feel like he/she is not talented enough to learn. The truth is that he/she is talented enough but chose a path that focused on the wrong skill set. The solution is to learn who you are and what is natural for you and use those talents first. With a single assessment, you could be sure you have helped your child put his/her best foot forward as he/she begins her path to music lessons. Are you interested in a key music assessment for your child? We don't want the testing fee to be a barrier to any child wanting to learn music. As a result, the fee is waived for children under the age of 15 years. Contact our studio right away to schedule a free assessment, and we look forward to meeting you! Key Music Center Norcross, Ga
