I take French lessons with Anto, and I like her approach. She uses a variety of ways to help me understand the concepts. I was apprehensive about taking online lessons, but so far so good.

I started taking Italian lessons with Gaetano to better communicate with my family in Italy who do not speak English. When I visited Italy this summer, they complimented me on my improvement and even said I speak like a native. Gaetano takes an approach that makes learning fun, and we became fast friends. I will definitely continue taking lessons in the future!

The Atlanta Institute of Language provides a fantastic welcoming environment for learning. There, I participated in a level three Spanish course. Our instructors were well versed in Spanish language and grammar. We participated in group talk sessions, and presentations which helped me to be more comfortable with conjugation and speaking. The school offers all levels of Spanish, from beginner to advanced. As well as all levels of classes in a multitude of other languages. I had the opportunity to sit in on a lower level class, in order to determine where I fit. In the level 2 course, the instructor reviewed cognation in the various tenses. In the course, he took the time to ensure everyone grasped the material being discussed while encouraging the students to learn from each other. Truly a fantastic experience, and one that will surely result in your mastering a second language (in my case Spanish). Also, the building/structure is very aseptically pleasing and always chock full of tea, coffee, soft drinks, snacks (nuts, fruit etc.). You really feel at home. All the best!

About

I found this article in regard to the psychology involving language learning intriguing; allow me to share it with you. "We live in a world community that speaks more than 5,000 distinct languages. We cannot hope to understand ourselves and our own place in this world without understanding the enormous impact of linguistic and cultural diversity of the human social condition." -- Bialystok and Hakuta "How is it that the child, less capable in most things than the adult, learning algebra and understanding the gist of foreign movies among them would be more capable of learning and using the complex structures of French, German or Urdu?" -- from the article "In Other Words: The Science and Psychology of Second-Language Acquisition" by Ellen Bialystok and Kenji Hakuta I am proficient in Italian and German and will be able to help you learn in a nonacademic approach. Learning new languages becomes second nature if approached in a fun way; just having conversation with one another will do the trick. I am the daughter of an Italian immigrant in Germany; therefore, I had the privilege and the fortune to later live and work in different countries (Germany, Italy and USA) learning the languages fluently. The greatest impact for my intercultural growth was the opportunity to work for the International School of Lago Patria in Italy, where different tasks requiring my multilingual skills was an essential tool to communicate with new parents as well as new students who were still having difficulties with the language barriers. As a member of a reputable private school, which hosted many children of high-ranking military families from surrounding NATO bases, it was essential for me to interact with parents in a professional manner while reassuring the sense of respect for the diversity and uniqueness of every culture.
