Do you love to sing but have never learned how? Do you want to be able to improve your voice for a church choir or perhaps sing a solo? Does your child want to be in school musicals, improve their talent for pageants, or audition into an honor choir? My name is Dr. Elisabeth Slaten, and I am a private voice teacher in Atlanta. I offer 30-minute and hour lessons that focus on classical technique, which is the basis for all styles of singing. I can also teach basic musicianship, audition techniques, and beginning piano. The lessons you will receive will be on the same level as taking at the university, but half the price. I have a doctorate in vocal performance from UGA and a masters in voice and pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. I also currently teach on the college level at Emory University and a small school in North Georgia.

Please note: If serious about lessons with me, please call Earthshaking Music or visit my website. My quotes are posted and my blog showcases what I can provide for you. Thanks. Music has always been a part of my life. I first began taking music classes as a teen when I was accepted into an arts-based magnet school. I studied classical voice and musical theater. I went into college as a music major (B.A. Music Composition, Auburn University) and continued to study voice and composition. I decided to go into teaching elementary a couple of years ago, and have found great pleasure in it. I learned so much in the elementary school system, and I started to apply it to teaching music. I continue to write songs, compose and perform under the music project Nerdkween. I am eager to inspire people to create for themselves. Are you interested in learning how to sing? Whether you want to build self-confidence, prepare for an event, or you want to pursue a career, I can give you the support you need. I focus on breathing techniques, posture, diction, articulation and musicianship. I can help you learn your favorite song with ease. You will learn to sing stronger, higher, and with complete confidence in all styles, including gospel, blues, rock, pop, jazz, musical theater, classical, country, and opera with amazing high notes, great power and control, and an amazing vocal technique that will last a lifetime. People wonder how many lessons are needed to become a great performer. That depends on you and how devoted you are to be the best you can possibly be. Think of it this way: the best athletes in the world (and singers) continue to train in order to produce the best results. Are you interested in playing piano? I can teach you how to play your favorite song! I can design your lessons around the song or songs you would like to learn. My specialty is in songs with vocals, and I will break down a song for you to teach you to play. Also, you'll learn exercises to develop playing technique and music theory knowledge, as well as practical skills, such as ear training, sight reading, and notation to give you the confidence to play the style of music you prefer. I can also teach guitar. If you're starting out, I can show you the ropes. Guitar is a wonderfully personal and versatile instrument. It is great to be able to play while singing during auditions or intimate performances. If you want to learn your favorite song, I can coach you to success!

I have been certified to teach speech level singing and have trained extensively under Tricia Grey of Sing Like a Star, Dave Stroud of vocalizeU, Jeffrey Skouson and Greg Enriquez of SLS. This vocal technique is focused on helping a vocalist to properly develop a healthy, unrestricted, unrestrained vocal balance which produces a wider range, increased power and stamina. I have many years of experience singing in bands and elsewhere of varying genres including pop, rock, RnB, folk, alternative, soul, jazz and worship. I also have studio recording experience, and I am currently recording my second album that I have written and co-written. I am also a worship leader. I enjoy working with students on their vocal technique, ear training, theory, beginner piano and songwriting. Please contact me for more information!

  • Hello! My name is Matt Johnson, and I would love to be able to share my passion for music with you. Whether you want to learn to play and sing your favorite songs for your friends, or work on writing and creating your own music, I'm your man. I've been performing music from a very early age, and I still regularly perform at music venues in and around Atlanta with my band, The Dirty Souls. As a singer and songwriter, I am heavily influenced by all types of music, and I believe that good musicians are usually influenced by several different genres. I think that it is important to learn what you love, so I like to ask my students what interests them musically before planning lessons. If you're interested in songwriting, I would love to share what I've learned to help your inspiration become a reality. I also am a firm believer that it is never too early or too late to find your voice in music, so I am open to students of all different ages. So, if you are looking to have a blast learning and playing music together, please contact me to set up your first lesson. Matt

I have a background in music from a guitar, sax, piano point of view. Concerning voice, I have a narrow focus of learning for singing including really just being able to sing a few existing artist's styles: Eddie Vedder, Bruce Springsteen and Amos Lee. I say this because I would like an instructor who knows and respects these artists and this type of music. I am not interested in general instruction. You will waste both of our times if you try to pair me with anyone else. Just saving us all some grief.
