About The Fitness Hypothesis The Fitness Hypothesis is a fresh new startup with a powerful purpose: to inspire healthier lives through movement, mindset, and science. Founded in the wake of losing my father to obesity-related health issues, this brand is my way of turning heartbreak into hope. His story lit a fire in me—to help others avoid the pain that comes from preventable health struggles and to build a community where wellness is accessible, empowering, and even fun. We’re just getting started, but our mission is clear: to combine fitness with curiosity, education, and support. Whether you’re lifting your first weight, chasing a personal record, or simply trying to feel better in your own skin, The Fitness Hypothesis is here to cheer you on. We believe that fitness isn’t just about looking good—it’s about living well, loving longer, and showing up for the people who matter most. This brand is built on heart, hustle, and the hope that together, we can rewrite the story of what health looks like—one rep, one step, one transformation at a time.See more

Personal Training

Gayle G. says, "100% Ruby has changed my life. I wasn’t even looking to start a personal training program when I availed of the free consult and training session through Chelsea Piers, as I was relatively fit and had a good spin/yoga/weighted HIIT routine going. I am so glad I went for it. Ruby immediately diagnosed the little aches and troubles I had been living with and it is no exaggeration to say my body and outlook and lifestyle have changed completely for the better. I am stronger, more adventurous and confident in the gym—and this extends to outside life too. She challenged me in the best (and very frustrating!) ways, hitting on my areas of weakness and not letting up on quality. Check your ego at the door folks! She was always aiming to empower and equip, ready with encouragement while sticking to pretty rigorous standards of form. Which, as a longtime yoga practitioner, I deeply appreciate. Ruby applies the right amount of pressure (not overbearing or causing a break) to get you right to the edge where change and growth happens. Great advice on goals and nutrition too! Best part of working with Coach Ruby? Even the hardest workouts feels like shooting the shit with a buddy."See more

Personal Training

Hi! I’m K8 (Kate) — a personal trainer based in Columbus and the founder of Elev8 with K8. I specialize in helping women build strength, confidence, and a body they feel good in. After many years on a “get in shape” rollercoaster of quick fixes, gimmicks, and short-term results, I finally found the formula that led to my own 5-year transformation and became passionate about showing that strength training doesn’t have to be intimidating, extreme, or complicated. I coach with simple, effective lifts, proper form, real-life nutrition habits, and a sustainable approach that fits a busy lifestyle. 🌈 Although my specialty is helping women elevate their strength and confidence, I proudly welcome clients of all genders — including men, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ individuals. My coaching is inclusive, body-positive, and judgment-free. If you want a supportive space to grow, you’re welcome here. 💪 What I Offer: 1:1 personal training at Full Throttle Fitness (Polaris/Lewis Center), small group training for 2–4 clients, and mobile/in-home training if you prefer to work out in your own environment (home gym, apartment/community gym, or another approved gym; travel-based pricing applies). ✨ I also offer Elev8 custom airbrush spray tanning for clients who want to feel strong and glow with confidence, with exclusive Fit + Glow perks for training clients. 🧭 Coaching Style: Encouraging, real, and down-to-earth — no judgment, no ego, no extremes. Just proper form, sustainable strength work, accountability, and habits that fit your life. 🎯 Who I Work Best With: Women looking to build strength, feel toned, boost confidence, improve energy, learn proper lifting technique, build sustainable routines, or lose body fat safely — as well as men, non-binary clients, beginners, returning lifters, and anyone who values an inclusive and supportive environment. 💸 Pricing: Thumbtack requires ranges; final pricing depends on session type, location, and frequency. 1:1 personal training: $40–$60/hr. Small groups: $35–$45 per person. Mobile/in-home training: custom based on distance and setup. Spray tan add-ons: exclusive rates for PT clients. Packages and memberships available. 💫 Let’s elevate your strength, confidence, and lifestyle — one session at a time. Message me to book your intro session or ask questions. I’d love to help you get started.See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do you need for kickboxing?

What you need to bring to kickboxing depends on where you are working out and what your goals are. For a gym or fitness club’s cardio-based group kickboxing class that does not use punching bags, you generally need only appropriate workout gear and enough water. For kickboxers who are training in a martial arts studio, working one-on-one with a trainer toward a specific goal or sparring with competitors, you will need your own boxing gloves (12- to 16-ounce gloves provide more protection for beginners) and hand wraps (to protect and support your hands under the gloves, as well as keep them dry). If your lessons are in a martial arts studio, you may not be permitted to wear shoes, so bring clean socks if you don’t like to go barefoot. If your training includes sparring, you may be required to wear a mouthguard and/or protective headgear. Whether you’re in a group fitness class or hardcore training session, bring a sweat towel for your comfort and the comfort of people around you.

What should you wear to kickboxing?

What you wear to kickboxing can vary based on the setting. For kickboxing group fitness classes that are part of a gym’s cardio class schedule, standard fitness attire is appropriate. Athletic sneakers, pants or shorts that you can comfortably kick in without getting tangled or flashing anyone, and a top that allows for easy movement when punching and jabbing are all good choices. You won’t need protective gear or gloves, as most cardio-based kickboxing classes do not use punching bags.

Kickboxing training that takes place at a martial arts studio typically requires protective gear. You may need boxing gloves (beginners may want 12-ounce or heavier gloves for more cushioning) and hand wraps that protect and support your hands under the gloves while you punch the bag. If your kickboxing training includes sparring with opponents, you’ll need a mouthguard and any protective head and body gear your studio requires. Always be sure to bring plenty of water, too.
