If you need any type of flooring or tile work I would absolutely hire Mike!!! He is very professional, extremely nice and did exceptional work. He installed hardwood flooring in our Lake Sherwood house plus some other flooring. He came out for no charge to give us the initial quote despite the fact that our lake house is a bit of a drive. He gave us suggestions for where to buy flooring to save some money and assisted with answering our questions on our flooring choices. He always was on time, work completed quickly and great communication. We did not pay him for any of the work until the job was 100% complete as that is his policy. He demonstrates high integrity and stands behind his work, quotes, etc. We will positively use him again! In fact, we have a backsplash tile project coming & my dad just hired him to do extensive tile flooring at his new house under construction. His pricing is also extremely good so I would hurry to get him booked.

Thom and his crew came out and installed laminate floors and carpeted our stairs. You can buy quality flooring but if you divvy have a good installer they will not look right nor Iast. They all took pride in their work and have a passion for their craft. That makes a huge difference. We are very pleased with the quality of work put into our floors and they were completed on a timely manner. We will use this company again.

Rollie said that he would meet at my house between 3:30 and 4pm to complete the estimate to re-tile my shower. He was there at 3:45. Gave the estimate and even went with me to Home Depot to help with selecting the correct material to satisfy my vision. He completed the shower tile work and I am more than satisfied. I will definitely call him on future jobs. He also, seemed to be cost conscious ensure we got the best product at the best price.

The job that Luke at MorganCo did for me was a fairly simple job. I had one section of vinyl fence knocked down and needed just a few replacement parts. He found the parts for me to order and gave me the information, in other words, he received absolutely no pay for this and did outstanding customer service. I will be contacting him in the future for some other work which needs to be done.

Explained the difference between engineered wood and real wood and laminates. The cost factor was decent, not over priced. Showed us the difference in layers of engineered vs. wood. So far we are pleased with the floor covering quote

Installed 340 sq ft of laminate flooring in kitchen and mudroom. Did all the trim as well. Had to work across different surfaces (plywood and concrete). In one word: WOW. What a pleasure to work with a company so professional, responsive, and detail-oriented. I am a small-business owner myself and have crazy hours. Nick was thoughtful enough to do the estimate on a Saturday morning so I didn't have to miss work. He was even able to get the job done earlier than originally scheduled - how often does THAT happen?!! The installers did an amazing job from start to finish and yesterday I came home to find a beautiful new kitchen floor that will make a huge difference in terms of enjoying the house now and eventual resale. (By the way the installers did a phenomenal job with clean-up as well. You would never have known they were even there!) I have already referred Nick to a neighbor and will hire him as soon as possible again to replace the family room floor and refinish the porch floor. As a single mom I have to be very careful about my budget. This investment was worth every penny and brought me peace of mind. I made a video of the floor and have sent it to all my friends - that's how proud I am of it!

Brice brought several samples for me to look at. After deciding on the flooring I wanted he was quick to give me a quote. Once the order was placed it was delivered quickly. The floor I chose was luxury vinyl tile that looks like hard wood. When the job was completed it looked AMAZING. Brice was efficient and got the job done quickly as we were putting our house in the market. Everyone loved the floor that toured the house, just wish I could've enjoyed it longer.

Bruce has replaced all of the Vinyl siding and trim around our house, as well as the gable vents and gutters. The job was done on schedule, at a very fair price and we couldn't have asked for a better look in the completed job. When we had questions, he had answers. Accurate and concise. We then had him come in and fix some brick damage that occurred when some big dummy (myself) backed into the piller at the side of our attached garage. Again, after a few questions he completed this job with the same quality of work... (he even cleaned up some brick work from a previous job we had done). The person that did the previous brick work in the back of our house left it in an unfinished condition... but Bruce did not... he completed that persons job too! We have now scheduled him to re-do our bathroom. He allows us to call him with questions as they come up. Now with his help we have all of our ducks in a row. He has accommodated us in the timing of this job so that he will be doing much of the work while we are on vacation. This will help to minimize the inconvenience factor of doing without our main bathroom. To sum up Bruce's work, attitude, and professionalism in one word I could only say awesome !!!! Glad we have you as our go to guy Bruce. Thank You.

I had laminate flooring installed, and a large retaining wall installed behind my garage. Both jobs were done and finished very professionally. Cleanup was awesome too. I have recommended him to a couple of friends and they were impressed with his work also. He installed doors and hot water heater for friends. He is a jack of all trades and can do just about anything.

He also fixed a leak in my second floor window. A year later, it still doesn't leak! Gagandeep really loves his work and cares about the customers. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does it take to install a hardwood floor?

Hardwood floor installation can take anywhere from a few days to more than two weeks, depending on demolition, wood type, the condition of your subfloor, total square footage of the project, and installation method. Demolition is necessary if you have existing flooring you want to replace with hardwood floors. New-construction homes do not require this step, as the subfloor is primed and ready for floor installation. During demolition, the flooring crew may find that your subfloor has damaged wood, uneven surfaces or other problems that must be addressed before the new wood can be laid down. Crews may charge on an hourly rate for subfloor repair, and the work can take a few hours to several days, depending on what’s hiding underneath your floor. The wood for your new floor generally arrives a few days before any work begins. This allows the wood to acclimate to the relative humidity in your house, which prevents it from shrinking or expanding after installation and causing gaps or buckling. The actual wood installation may take several days or more, depending on the size of your home and what type of custom cutting and designs are desired. If your flooring is not prefinished, the unfinished wood must then be sanded and stained in the home to treat and protect your new investment. Typically, stain takes a full day to dry, and multiple coats are applied. Baseboards and trim must also be installed. With all these variables at play, you can see why it’s important for a wood installation pro to provide an estimate only after seeing your home.

How much does it cost to install flooring?

On average, Thumbtack customers nationwide pay $5,500 for floor installation. The cost can range much lower or higher depending on the type of flooring you select (laminate is far less expensive than exotic hardwood), the square footage of the project, and other important variables like demolition and repair work needed. Here are some examples of average floor installation cost:

        • Basic floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
          • This can range up to $7 or $8 per square foot when tear-out and prep work is required.
        • Laminate floor and installation cost: $3-$8 per square foot.
          • Laminate is one of the most affordable materials and can start as low as $1.50 per square foot.
        • Wood floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
          • $7 and up for hand-scraped oak planks and other specialized work.
        • Luxury vinyl tile installation: $3.50+ per square foot (not including tiles).
          • Cost includes prep work, underlayment, leveling and grouting.
        • Examples of additional floor installation costs:
          • Pouring concrete to level the under-flooring: $1,000-$1,500 for materials and labor.
          • Removing carpet: 35 cents or more per square foot.
          • Removing difficult ceramic or porcelain tile: about $2.25 per square foot.
            • Includes removal of the dura rock.
        • Floor repair: $75 minimum.

How much does it cost to install hardwood floors?

The cost of hardwood floors will depend primarily on the total square footage of flooring, the type of wood you select, the cost of labor in your region, and any preparation or repair work that needs to take place before installation. Selecting exotic woods, such as teak, will result in a higher cost for the project than a more affordable wood such as oak. The national average cost of hardwood floor installation is $5,750. Here are some examples of different woods and their average costs; actual costs will vary depending on the factors listed above.

        • Basic wood floor installation: $3 per square foot from a wood floor installation company.
          • The product cost for hand-scraped ¾-inch oak planks: $7 per square foot.
        • 620 square feet of maple floor:
          • Residential installation, total project cost: ~ $2,400 with five days of labor.
          • ¾-inch dark stained maple installed on top of new concrete in three rooms, a hallways, and a staircase.
            • Cost for total project: ~$3.87 per square foot.

How much are oak hardwood floors?

Installing oak hardwood floors can add value and beauty to your home. The cost of hardwood floors is typically based on the overall square footage of your new floor, the type of oak you select, any repair work your subfloor requires prior to installation, and any demolition costs to remove your old flooring. Other factors that will affect your total cost can include the regional cost of labor and business overhead of your flooring company.

A flooring installation company may charge $3 per square foot for standard installation. For hand-scraped (higher-end) ¾-inch oak planks, the cost is approximately $7 per square foot, for a total cost per square foot of about $10 as long as no repair work is required. Standard oak planks are available from big-box stores for as low as $3 per square foot, so the quality of oak you want will affect your total project cost.
