My daughter takes voice lessons and participates in theater at Stacey De and Co. We couldn't be more thrilled with everyone there, from the professional front desk staff Bre, outstanding director Sean, absolutely irreplaceable Melissa, and of course the heart and soul of this great place Stacey. The time my daughter spends at Stacey De and Co. every week is her favorite time of her week. In a completely non-stressful, family-like environment, she is stretched to really push her limits, is taught life lessons like the value of hard work and the ability to accept constructive criticism/evaluation and then improve on those things, and so very much more. She leaves every lesson and rehearsal a little more confident, learned, and determined to succeed...all in an environment of happiness, laughter, encouragement. I don't know what else one could look for in a fine arts school. My daughter and I both love it here.

My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)

I searched Craigslist for instructors in Orange County who teach "Moeller", a specialized method to maximize energy efficiency while drumming. David O and I spoke briefly on the phone about my expectations. I have taken just 5 lessons in total, and so far, my goals have been met or exceeded, including a huge breakthrough on my speed and technique (I'm a technical metal drummer). I can't express how to the point and precise David is. He has learned from some of the best drummers in the business and I feel honored to have the opportunity to work with him and improve my craft. Thank you David!!

David has been a great drum teacher for my two kids, ages 5 and 7 (started when 4 and 6). He was very patient with them tailored the instruction to their abilities. I am a semi-professional musician (played in touring indie band) and therefore appreciated David's mix of formal music instruction (i.e. sight reading and annotation) and "jamming" (forming intrinsic feel). Highly recommend David.

David was very patient with my ever-changing schedule and was able to make songs seems easy. He was able to boil down complicated drum skills into simple steps so that every lesson I felt like I was advancing. Sad he's no longer in NYC!

Guitar Chicago is the best option for music lessons in Chicago! Their instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. They do a fantastic job of working with you to achieve your individual goals. I started as a beginner with no guitar knowlege, and they helped me achieve my goals of playing multiple open mics and music events. I've also been able to meet and work with other Guitar Chicago students! They are always willing to work with my busy schedule, which is very hard to find with other schools or group lessons.

I never realized learning to play guitar would be so much fun! Dan is the best. Not only does he explain the information in a way that is easy to understand, he makes learning it fun! I still look forward to lessons after nearly nine months and I can't imagine a reason I would ever stop taking them here.

Mike is a wonderful drum teacher and has improved my drumming skills in just little time. His lessons are very structured and easy to follow, and before I knew it, I was playing to actual instrumentals and keeping up with them. Mike is such a funny, nice, and friendly guy who actually cares about his students. He treats me like I am a friend rather than just another student. I couldn't ask for a better teacher and friend.

Swanny has been my drum teacher on and off for 15+ years, during which time he's been both a sage mentor and a close friend. Along with being a patient, passionate, and intelligent teacher, he loves the drums more than anyone I know. He persisted with me when I was a dumb 10 year old who got a drum kit for Christmas and who, along with being afraid of loud noises, didn't even like the drums (he somehow managed to instill in me during that time an appreciation for and understanding of music despite myself). He guided me and encouraged me to explore my interest when that first spark of excitement for drumming happened, and he has helped me explore new paths as my relationship with the drums and my interests as a musician have developed throughout the years. The drums are a meaningful piece of the person I am today; I turn to them as a creative outlet, as a source of confidence and pride, and as a place where I can find the solitude I need to center myself or the energy and excitement I want to bring to collaborating with others. And I have Swanny to thank for that.

Eric has been my drum teacher for the last few months in Chicago. I have been more than impressed with the service. He is an instructor who not only is incredibly skilled, he is full of energy and makes the lessons fun and is not overwhelming with new content. He builds on previous lessons. My favorite part of the lessons is his knowledge about drumming styles, and drummers throughout history. Definitely a great guy, and a great instructor.

I never have to remind him to practice anymore. Eric is reliable, always on time and enthusiastic every time we meet.. My son can't wait for his next drum lesson. He really seems to be learning a lot.

Andrew is amazing!! As of this writing (Feb 2013) he's been teaching my son for more than two years (starting when my son was only six). Because of Andrew, my son knows his rudiments, is fully reading music, is playing full drum set (as well as snare ensembles) has performed with the School of Rock and shares a love and passion for music that Andrew has kindled, nurtured and inspired. Andrew is a kind, professional and highly accessible instructor who brings a wealth of fun, talent and knowledge to the table with every lesson. Highly organized, punctual and extremely accommodating, Andrew has tapped into the personal musical interests of my son and brought them to life on the drums. Andrew is not only a great drummer and teacher, but an excellent listener, who is highly in tune with what my son and I want from each lesson. After the first lesson, my son told me that "Andrew was SO cool!" and considered him not only his teacher, but a friend from day one. Andrew makes the most of every minute of every lesson, and as a fellow drummer myself, I can personally vouch for Andrew as a teacher, performer and friend. If you are looking for a teacher who is second to none, look no further than Andrew Sole.

Andrew is an OUTSTANDING drum tutor. He comes with my highest endorsement -- which I don't give out lightly. I have been extremely impressed with how seriously he takes his teaching and, most importantly, my son loves working with him! Andrew is extremely patient, focused, and thoroughly dedicated to and passionate about drumming. This level of zeal transfers directly to his students. If you've got a son or daughter, regardless of age, who wants to dive into the world of drums, Andrew will be their ultimate guide! He's top notch. I'm happy to respond directly to any inquiries for more insight. I can be reached at: thebuhrmasters@comcast.net

I started taking lessons from Mike in 2009 after not having played since high school. Mike starts you off at the level he feels is appropriate for you, and you go from there. A great thing about the class are the lessons are recorded, which saves so much practice time throughout the week. With other classes, if you wrote or remembered something wrong, you can waste a whole week practicing something incorrectly. The lessons build upon each other, and do make you think; many are quite challenging, but the payoff is looking back and what seemed difficult months earlier, you can now do without thinking. Mike also gives you excellent pointers on how to break the lesson into segments and put it all together. The only complaint I have is I wish he were my teacher when I had started playing years ago; I would have never stopped. You can’t go wrong learning at Chicago’s #1 drum lessons.

My son Nicholas started taking lessons with Mike at age 9 and continued with him for years, and through Mike's outstanding teaching skills, brought Nick to the level that Mike hired Nick to teach some of his beginning students utilizing Mike's teaching methods. If you are reading this because you, or your child or someone you know is interested in taking drum lessons, you need to look no further, you have found the best!!! Mike truly cares and nurtures each of his students, you won't find someone more devoted that the art of drumming and making you successful in your endeavor.

After a 4 year hiatus from playing the drums I realized I lost some skill when I started playing again. I decided to take drum lessons from Mike. I studied with Mike for 3 years and it was worth every penny that I paid. Mike helped me a lot with separation and independence in my playing. I would highly recommend Mike to any beginner, intermediate or advanced player.

I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.

Eric is my drum set instructor and has been for a some months now. I started off completely new to the drum set with only some basic knowledge of holding the sticks, some basic rudiments and some degree of sight reading. Since I didn't know where exactly to begin with drumming, Eric gave me some basic rock grooves to work on which got me going. Then, when I realized I really wanted to try getting into my schools Jazz band, I asked if we could start working on that. He allows you to pick any direction you want to go in including learning to play along to a particular song that you like if that's what you want. Having some direction in your learning is extremely helpful and having an awesome instructor like Eric definitely helps speed up the process of learning. He also gives tips on your technique which also help improve your drumming - something you can't get if you're on your own. I've gone from barely being able to play the snare and bass drum independently with some rock grooves to some fairly complicated jazz drumming incorporating all my limbs and managing to actually practice and play them correctly. I definitely recommend taking drum lessons from Eric.

My son took percussion lessons from John Marrella throughout high school. During that time his skills improved tremendously. He became a well-rounded percussionist and enjoyed many achievements during this time, including Colorado All-State Band, Top of the Nation Honor Band, and superior ratings for both his drum and mallet performances at Solo and Ensemble Contests. I also took xylophone lessons from John. I was a total beginner, having never learned to play an instrument. With much patience, John taught me how to read music and to play with proper technique. John was always encouraging and positive, yet always guiding me to improve in my playing or form. I highly recommend John as an instructor. His experience in playing professionally, his expertise as a percussionist, his patience, and his ability to explain things clearly make him an outstanding teacher.

I have been taking piano lessons for 5 years, voice lessons for 9 months and flute lessons for 6 months at Music Makers...For Life, Inc. As an adult with prior music experience, I had certain ideas on how I wanted my lessons, and Theresa was very willing to accomodate my wishes. She always tried to work within my schedule as well. Theresa was always kind and patient with me and always made me feel good about my music and myself! I'm also impressed with how her school is structured for kids. They earn "music money" if they've practiced their lesson or land on the right square on the board game the teachers use to reinforce their teaching. Then they can spend their "music money" in her "music store" on small toys, or t-shirts, tote bags, etc. This really motivates the kids to want to practice! Older kids might be invited to join one of her rock bands, which perform around the county. Playing in a rock band helps to keep the teens enthusiastically engaged in their music! Music Makers...For Life is truly "The Fun Way to Learn to Play"!

I actually like everything about Christopher Laughlin's School of Music. We have been with the school for almost 10 years. Both of my boys play instruments and I have seen them grow tremendously as musicians. The instructors are excellent, there are opportunities for performance, and Chris & his staff go out of their way to accomodate what are often crazy schedules. Both of my children have been taking drum lessons with Bill for over two years. From a logistical standpoint, in-home lessons are so much easier than having to drive to a location. Bill is very reliable and I can't remember a time that he was late. If a lesson has to be canceled or rescheduled, he always alerts us and gives ample notice. From a coursework perspective, I really appreciate that Bill continues to work on the fundamentals, even two years into lessons. He stresses the importance of the fundamental rudiments and always drills those before moving forward with more technical or free-form playing. I highly recommend Bill as a teacher for those looking to start learning how to play.

My daughter has been a student of Mike's for four and a half years. She started in semi-private half hour classes, then half hour private, and now hour long private classes. Mike's unique teaching method has been challenging yet without frustration, and resulted in her becoming an enthusiastic and accomplished drummer. In addition to the lesson based musical skills she has developed in his classes, Mike has mentored my daughter in terms of her performance skills and stage presence with her band. He has been her number one fan since day one, always following, mentoring, and supporting her progress as an individual drummer, and that of her band as a whole. Mike has also taught her to how teach entry and mid level students and hired her to work for him. The teaching experience brought her to an entirely new level in terms of teaching her responsibility, time management, organizational skills, and of course how to teach others. My daughter has not only become a great drummer but has learned so many valuable life skills working with Mike. She has seen the benefit of hard work toward achieving goals that may seem unattainable, but are broken down into meaningful and reasonable steps. She has enjoyed Mike's constant support of her as a drummer and her band as a whole, and she has learned valuable job skills. Mike is a gifted musician and teacher, and his unique teaching method and personal mentoring has allowed, and continues to encourage my daughter to learn valuable lessons and achieve her goals in music and in life.

I met Mike about 12 years ago. he was teaching one of my cousins kids to play the drums. I had recently started to kick it again my self. So I inquired about Mike. My first meeting with Mike I was 48 years old and Mike was about 26-28 yrs old. When I met him and realized he was so young I asked him why I should take lessons from a guy half my age. He explained to me that he had been drumming since he was 3. He has such a passion to play the drums. he studied every drummer he could and then he explained and showed me what he could do on the drums live and I was amazed. I had never met in person or saw anyone play the drums like Mike, From there I took lessons for about a year. Mike helped me learn how to keep better time and also read music to help me play in my Church till this day I recommend anyone that is a beginner or an avid drummer. to try Mikes lessons they will surely enhance their drumming ability after taking his sessions. Thanks Mike Sincerely, David L Ransom ,Jr.
