Laura is very proficient with coaching English as a second language. She will teach you the skills to interact with people (e.g.: in your line of business when you are in their country) who speak other languages. The skills include learning to be comfortable with the second language, and not just with the words themselves.

Granush A. Hi, my name is Granush. I speak Armenian, German, Russian and English. I learnt English with Marina for almost a year. I was already fluent but wanted to reach near-native proficiency. Marina’s classes were really efficient and very well-organized. I liked them a lot. Marina is a motivating teacher. She always gave me a lot of speaking practice. We also worked on academic reading and writing and discussed academic articles. I am totally happy with the results of my work with Marina.

If your looking for a great tutor look no further! We picked Hntsa to help our son increase his ACT score two points to help him qualify for an academic scholarship. Two points isn't a huge jump, but we only had five weeks to prepare and the last two ACT tests resulted in the same score. After reading Hntsa's background information and reviews we decided to give him a call. It was the best decision we ever made. Hntsa is intellectual, methodical, patient, and insightful. He took the time to really understand our son's strengths and weaknesses so that he could use that information to develop a tutoring plan that was specific to our son. The resources that he had available were abundant up to and including a watch to help keep track of time when doing a practice a test or taking it live. Hntsa also understands how the test is put together, how it works, and the best way to attack it. He also know how to speak to teens in a way that is not condescending. Our son increased his composite score by three points and his STEM score by four! Now, our son put in a lot of effort to get that score, but he never would have done it on his own. We already tried. He needed someone like Hntsa. A tutor that was genuinely interested in him not just as a student, but as a person. It's rare to find people who love what they do so much that their enthusiasm rubs off on you! That's what happened with my son and I think the learning lessons that Hntsa gave my son will stay with him beyond the ACT test. We are eternally grateful for everything he did. You will be too.

Not only is he more skilled his confidence has increased tremdously. His English teacher reports that he even volunteers to read aloud. I still can't believe it! Im so grateful for the time and attention my son was given. Ethan and I look forward to his next session.

I can’t speak about Szilvia without enthusiasm because she is more than a teacher. I don’t want to waste words for her knowledge and experience because that I can receive from other teachers as well. I think her biggest strength is that she always finds the best way how to motivate you the most. Her classes are tailor-made, you enjoy them because they are interesting, she involves your hobbies and your interests. After a while you just notice that you are reading a book in English what she recommended for you and it is such an amazing moment.

Sarah was extremely proficient working with our son. Our son struggled in reading comprehension and math. Sarah was quick to offer alternative learning methods, and was extremely professional while also being compassionate. I really can't say enough good about Sarah. She exceeded our expectations in every way.

Lucille helped me with editing papers for my Master's degree. I was so pleased with the results, and hired her to help my daughter with her High School creative writing assignments! When I learned that she also did tutoring for reading, I asked her to help my elementary school Granddaughter, with reading comprehension. She has a special way of teaching which made the work fun while achieving success. Her writing abilities are evident in her published books for children and adults. I have read and enjoyed all of them. I highly recommend her services.

I have taught alongside Cheryl in my classroom for many years. I have both great respect and appreciation for her ability to substantially improve a student's reading performance. She has excellent rapport with her students, is able to motivate them and suggests classroom strategies to increase their reading skills. In addition to working in the classroom, Cheryl also provides instruction in small groups or one-on-one. I highly recommend Cheryl as a reading tutor based on her considerable experience and talent in teaching reading.

Sean Francis, Ph.D. designed and taught a continuing education course for myself and 6 friends, all busy professionals with a desire to expand our knowledge in an area we knew little about but desired to know more. The course was an introductory overview in the appreciation, structure/form and history of Poetry. We met monthly for well over a year and covered Poetry from A to Z. What impressed all of us was his enthusiasm about the beauty in the images and thoughts expressed through the assembly of words, the recall of entire poems, knowledge of the poet's personal history, the particular culture that gave root to poets' expressions and appreciation for all variations of form and content in poetry. In a word, we were "wowed". There was no element in his lessons that could have been improved. He was always well organized. He added audio recordings, encouraged our own interpretations and reading aloud to understand cadence. It was delightfully interactive. His charm and humor simply topped off what we all found to be a completely pleasurable and stimulating lesson on Poetry.

I highly recommend Strategic Tutoring by Mrs. Mack. Financially I am struggling to make ends me but wanted to help my children succeed in school. Since my good friend also had children that needed extra help, Mrs. combined the kids into 2 small groups which gave them the support the needed and kept the hourly fee down. Instead if paying $45 an hour my girlfriend and I spent $28 an hour which was manageable. Mrs. Mack tutored my 9th grade son and my friend's 10th grade daughter together at the Geneva library. She selected reading, writing, and science topics materials that were intetesting to the kids and also pertinent to what they were studying at school. She took the time to talk to the teachers and even was involved in a conference at the school. The kids were very eager to see Mrs. Mack each week so we actually increased the time to 90 minutes a week and I am happy to say after a few sessions the classroom teachers noticed significant improvement in their reading fluency and comprehension even in biology and modern world social studies and this was reflected in their grades and attitude. My younger son in 3rd grade was tutored with my friend's 2nd grade daughter. Mrs. Mack took time journal writing back and forth with both of them secretly working on writing skills which did help to improve their essay and creative writing skills. Her positive attitude and friendly demeanor created a spark in the kids and after about a month they made significant progress in decoding words more automatically, understanding what was being read, increased rate of math computation, and improved writing structure and creativity. The kids actually understand and know how to apply various strategies that Mrs. Mack taught. She spent time with me explaining these strategies and providing me with a "strategy cheat sheet" so that we all ( teachers, parents, tutor) used a common language when guiding or reminding the kids how to solve a problem with reading, writing, or math. Mrs. Mack went beyond what I ever expected in a tutor and her experience with ESL, Special Education, Behavior Disordered, and Gifted students was apparent wben she took initiative to set up some enrichment activites for my 5th grader on her own time!

        About

My professional career spans for over 20 years as a counselor and more recently a substitute teacher in grades kindergarten through high school. I specialize in elementary/middle school English, reading, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and ESL. I believe it is important for your child to feel confident with reading and comprehension. I have a friendly and positive attitude. I believe in meeting the children where they are at. I will encourage them as we go; however, I will not force them to do anything. I create a comfortable environment by taking the time to get to know both you and your child. I am patient with elementary-aged children. I enjoy listening to how your mind works and answering their questions. I teach them about the importance of listening to instructions and taking their time with each task. I will take the time to get to know both you and your child. I am interested in any information you can give me about their personality, learning style, and strengths as well as areas that need improvement. I believe that the relationship with the child and tutor is very important. I also believe setting the relationship between myself and the parent(s) should be a partnership in helping the child achieve his/her goals.
