Marta has been my Spanish tutor for about a year now, and she is absolutely phenomenal. Not only is she sweet and easy to work with, but she explains grammatical concepts and other themes in Spanish well. She has helped me on numerous occasions regarding projects, papers, and even studying. Marta helped me study for the National Spanish Exam which I ended up receiving a gold medal in. Her knowledge level is equivalent to that of a professor. She is an outstanding tutor!

I have been taking Spanish lessons with Cristobal for coming up on a year and French lessons for the past 6 months or so. While I am sure that there are plenty of choices for tutoring this may be the only teacher I have had that I can honestly say has far superior methodology versus all my other professors. I don't say this lightly either, I say this coming from years of experience with other teachers in various settings. Just to give a little background, I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school, then studied in Mexico at a vocational school in a completely immersed environment (living with a host family of non-English speakers) far from the reaches of most gringos in a small city called Cuernavaca. I have worked with native Spanish speakers that speak very little English for 10+ years, studied Spanish in college for 4 semesters, and even studied with Professor William Slavin for two years in weekly private sessions, a local scholar who spoke English, Spanish, French, ,Italian, Portuguese, and Hebrew. While Slavin's approach was very thorough, Cristobal's approach is practical, more natural, and aimed at speaking. Ole! Spanish School isn't just another business in the sea, it's a place with an authentic philosophy and a natural approach to language learning. To make the experience even better, his rates are super reasonable and he has a very easy going personality that creates a relaxed environment. His positive ratings exist for a reason.

Kathy and Carmelo, of KCL Tutors, have been great. I worked mostly with Carmelo, and we met weekly to improve my Spanish skills. The lessons helped me improve my reading comprehension skills, build my vocabulary, and gain confidence in speaking Spanish for a full hour (not as easy as it looks!). I would recommend KCL Tutors to anyone trying to learn Spanish in a friendly environment.

My experience with Conversa began with three weeks at the Santa Ana campus in December 2008 where I was impressed with the beauty of the campus, the delicious food, the weekend adventures – but, most of all and most importantly, I was impressed with the quality and dedication of the Conversa instructors and the conversational approach to learning the language, combined with rigorous instruction in verb tenses, grammar, usage and much more. At the end of the three weeks, I certainly was not fluent, but I had made significant progress, far more than my earlier attempts to learn Spanish. Upon my return from Costa Rica, I immediately enrolled in Conversa’s on-line, one-on-one Spanish classes and have attended these classes at least weekly for more than a year, along with the lectures, on-line exercises and other on-line tools offered to Conversa’s on-line students. Conversa has worked for me – small group and one-on-one instruction; feedback from and interaction with qualified instructors; a proven method for teaching Spanish that incorporates a variety of teaching and learning tools and that is tailored to the level, needs and interests of the individual student. Maria has been FANTASTIC in helping me improve my Espanol. I chose her over several other teachers as she is a native speaker. I had spoke Spanish at an advanced level in high school, but haven't used it in years. Maria is patient (and a saint!). After speaking a bit to get a sense for my vocabulary, use of verb tenses, etc. she created a multi-month framework for how we could work togehter. My boyfriend is Colombian and he commented the other day how much better my Spanish has become over the last 5 weeks. I highly recommend Maria!!!

I really enjoy my weekly Spanish classes with Georgina. She always has something fun planned for our class and I feel like my Spanish has improved rapidly in the few months since I started taking classes. I also love learning about Argentinian culture and life in Argentina.

Erika is an excellent Spanish tutor. She teaches through reading, watching videos, and speaking. Her lessons have a historical and cultural component, in addition to conversational Spanish and colloquialisms. Our hour lessons fly by, and sometimes we lose track of time and keep chatting after the lesson is over. She is always engaged, interested and passionate about the material, and able to answer any questions. I never feel uncomfortable or nervous when speaking to Erika in Spanish. I highly recommend Erika for Spanish tutoring!

I am from Ecuador. I graduated with a degree in tourism administration, and I worked as a tour guide for 1 year in my country. Also, I used to teach Spanish to foreign people from France, the USA and Germany. If your goal is to actually learn how to speak, write and read Spanish and you're looking for some extra help, there are three distinct areas: beginner Spanish, intermediate Spanish and advanced Spanish. In any of these three areas we will start slowly and without pressure but with a rich vocabulary, and step-by-step you will improve and develop your skills, and we will work together in the most difficult parts. I am responsible with my work and flexible with the time. I am also very patient with people and willing to give my all to help you learn Spanish because I love to teach and want to show you my language. If you are ready to learn, I am ready to teach you!

I have been so incredibly pleased with Zia Safety Professionals. Ester Cadavid is teaching my two children, 8 years and 4 years, Spanish, and I have seen immense patience with them. My children eagerly wait for their lesson and are excited and yearning to learn more as the lesson progresses. I highly recommend Ester.

I have tutored since the 5th grade in nearly every subject in class, younger students, other adults, as a volunteer. Language however is my passion! My students always tell me I am a great teacher. I don't believe we must all learn the same way so finding different strategies to meet students' needs is very important to me. I love watching minds engage and seeing when it really "clicks". It is a great feeling helping someone "get it" when they thought they could not.

Hello! I'm Elianne, and I am 24 years old. My students typically range from middle school to high school students. I do try to challenge my students. I will speak to them in Spanish most of the time, but I always encourage my students to ask me questions or to stop me if and when they don't understand what I am asking of them. I am also a very happy-go-lucky woman. I like to play with mnemonics that will enable students to remember what is taught during our lessons together. The location I typically tutor from is the Barnes and Nobles in downtown Naperville. I find that public spaces are the safest and most reliable method for new clients. It is also a preferred location because it is simple to get to, and it seems to keep my students exceedingly focused. I am accommodating; however, if the trek to you is more than 20 minutes, I will have to increase my rates to accommodate for the physical labor I'm putting in to get to you, as well as gas. Thank you for your kind understanding in that regard. I do require (at minimum) a 12-hour cancellation notice. I know things can happen last minute and events need to be cancelled.I do allow 2 weeks to makeup a cancelled session. Moreover, I hold myself to very high standards. If you or the student is unsatisfied with my services, I will not bill you for it. I encourage feedback on my services and am extremely open to critique and suggestions on how to best please both the parents and students. I look forward to teaching you or your lovely students how to speak Spanish. Elianne Nascimento

Do you want to be a polyglot? Do you ever wanted to learn a foreign language, but thought it would be too hard? Have you tried, only to be frustrated by inadequate teaching, high cost and slow results? Well, if this is you, then talk to me. I'm a bona fide polyglot who could speak Spanish, French, German and English, and I have taught each of the languages in at least two of the others. I have a good idea for the kinds of obstacles that the brain faces when learning another language, and I am well-equipped to help you overcome them. So, I'm the real thing. Past clients have included everyone, from high-school students to diplomats, bankers, paralegals, restaurant and hotel workers, and electricians -- you name it. I have the experience and the know-how to address any and all teaching and study needs. There are no materials to buy and no books to be filled with costly, well-intentioned exercises. All you need is a tape recorder, a dictionary and note-taking material. That's it. Group rates are also available, and I have quite a bit of experience working with couples. Languages are one of the great passions of my life. They have become a pillar of what I need to do to live and feel alive. I will do everything I can to share that joy with you. So, contact me if you're interested or just curious. Peace.
