Re-learning a language involves hearing it spoken. I need to hear it from a person face to face, so that I can improve my ability to understand meaning, context and intent, and respond verbally. Rodrigo conducts these sessions in Spanish, and he anchors them in to real life in several ways. By talking about usage, by discussing the language and its use in different countries, or its use in various contexts, like business meetings, and by using readings of current engaging articles and focusing on verbs and tenses. No improvements to recommend to date.(show more)
Marta is one of the best Spanish tutors with whom I've ever worked. She adapted her lessons to my needs and my level, was always prepared, was always on time, and was very interesting to talk with. She was very flexible with her schedule, even providing weekend classes to help me prepare for a test. Easy to talk to and very professional - you won't even feel that you are in a class! Highly recommended.(show more)
Kathy and Carmelo are lovely people. My son feels so comfortable with Carmelo. He really enjoys their sessions, which are focused and productive while relaxed and low key. It's been really helpful for my son to have the immediate feedback on pronunciation.(show more)

As of June 20, 2016, I have had 3 lessons with Erika. All three have been different and challenging (but in a good way). What I really like about my experience with Erika is the interaction. She incorporates many different learning styles! She also is very accommodating, in which we meet at locations that are inconvenient for me. She is punctual and comes prepared. I have learned so much and I feel more confident in just 3 weeks. I feel more confident and I love how we incorporated spanish as much as possible. Even through our communication via text! Overall, very pleased with my experience.(show more)

I have been taking Spanish lessons with Cristobal for coming up on a year and French lessons for the past 6 months or so. While I am sure that there are plenty of choices for tutoring this may be the only teacher I have had that I can honestly say has far superior methodology versus all my other professors. I don't say this lightly either, I say this coming from years of experience with other teachers in various settings. Just to give a little background, I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school, then studied in Mexico at a vocational school in a completely immersed environment (living with a host family of non-English speakers) far from the reaches of most gringos in a small city called Cuernavaca. I have worked with native Spanish speakers that speak very little English for 10+ years, studied Spanish in college for 4 semesters, and even studied with Professor William Slavin for two years in weekly private sessions, a local scholar who spoke English, Spanish, French, ,Italian, Portuguese, and Hebrew. While Slavin's approach was very thorough, Cristobal's approach is practical, more natural, and aimed at speaking. Ole! Spanish School isn't just another business in the sea, it's a place with an authentic philosophy and a natural approach to language learning. To make the experience even better, his rates are super reasonable and he has a very easy going personality that creates a relaxed environment. His positive ratings exist for a reason.(show more)
I really enjoy my weekly Spanish classes with Georgina. She always has something fun planned for our class and I feel like my Spanish has improved rapidly in the few months since I started taking classes. I also love learning about Argentinian culture and life in Argentina.(show more)
Erika is an excellent Spanish tutor. She teaches through reading, watching videos, and speaking. Her lessons have a historical and cultural component, in addition to conversational Spanish and colloquialisms. Our hour lessons fly by, and sometimes we lose track of time and keep chatting after the lesson is over. She is always engaged, interested and passionate about the material, and able to answer any questions. I never feel uncomfortable or nervous when speaking to Erika in Spanish. I highly recommend Erika for Spanish tutoring!(show more)

Hello! I'm Elianne, and I am 24 years old. My students typically range from middle school to high school students. I do try to challenge my students. I will speak to them in Spanish most of the time, but I always encourage my students to ask me questions or to stop me if and when they don't understand what I am asking of them. I am also a very happy-go-lucky woman. I like to play with mnemonics that will enable students to remember what is taught during our lessons together. The location I typically tutor from is the Barnes and Nobles in downtown Naperville. I find that public spaces are the safest and most reliable method for new clients. It is also a preferred location because it is simple to get to, and it seems to keep my students exceedingly focused. I am accommodating; however, if the trek to you is more than 20 minutes, I will have to increase my rates to accommodate for the physical labor I'm putting in to get to you, as well as gas. Thank you for your kind understanding in that regard. I do require (at minimum) a 12-hour cancellation notice. I know things can happen last minute and events need to be cancelled.I do allow 2 weeks to makeup a cancelled session. Moreover, I hold myself to very high standards. If you or the student is unsatisfied with my services, I will not bill you for it. I encourage feedback on my services and am extremely open to critique and suggestions on how to best please both the parents and students. I look forward to teaching you or your lovely students how to speak Spanish. Elianne Nascimento(show more)
Do you want to be a polyglot? Do you ever wanted to learn a foreign language, but thought it would be too hard? Have you tried, only to be frustrated by inadequate teaching, high cost and slow results? Well, if this is you, then talk to me. I'm a bona fide polyglot who could speak Spanish, French, German and English, and I have taught each of the languages in at least two of the others. I have a good idea for the kinds of obstacles that the brain faces when learning another language, and I am well-equipped to help you overcome them. So, I'm the real thing. Past clients have included everyone, from high-school students to diplomats, bankers, paralegals, restaurant and hotel workers, and electricians -- you name it. I have the experience and the know-how to address any and all teaching and study needs. There are no materials to buy and no books to be filled with costly, well-intentioned exercises. All you need is a tape recorder, a dictionary and note-taking material. That's it. Group rates are also available, and I have quite a bit of experience working with couples. Languages are one of the great passions of my life. They have become a pillar of what I need to do to live and feel alive. I will do everything I can to share that joy with you. So, contact me if you're interested or just curious. Peace.(show more)
