My goal is to enable students to feel confident in expressing themselves though music, while polishing their technical skills and emoting through a powerful musical language. I have taught in individual/private and group settings over the past five years, mostly while studying with Kim Kashkashian, Cathy Basrak, and Nicholas Cords at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. I have a Bachelors degree in Viola Performance, and have had 18 years of education on both violin and viola, in solo, orchestral, and chamber music settings (my favorite!). My hope for all musicians is that we cultivate the drive and ability to share our gift with others!
I began studying the violin and viola using the Suzuki method when I was three years old at the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute as a student of Lucinda Ali. Since then, I have played with several professional, semi-professional, and youth orchestras, and chamber ensembles. With my quartets Lumière, Vox, and Highland Street, I have won first prizes in several competitions including the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and competitions hosted by: Merit School of Music, Society of American Musicians, Midwest Young Artists, Rembrandt Chamber Players, and more. I was also featured in string quartets that performed at the White House, the Kennedy Center, and the World Economic Forum. As a soloist, I have performed with the Oistrach Symphony Orchestra (DePaul University), been featured on NPR's "From the Top", and performed with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra as a laureate of their 17th and 18th competitions.
Recently, I have expanded on my teaching experience with short tours and residencies in Banff, AB, Canada, Napa Valley, CA, several cities in Brazil, and Boston, MA. I got to learn from the greats and I aim to relay my experience to others looking to learn!See more
