About

For the last five years I have perfected my teaching methods to cater to a variety of students of any age. I have experience teaching all styles, from beginner to advanced, and i am in the final year of pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Classical Guitar Performance. My lessons are unique to each student and their needs. I have experience teaching music theory, notation, and classical requirements necessary for students to pursue guitar in a collegiate setting. My teaching style is focused on keeping music fun, artistic, and easy; Practicing the guitar is never considered homework or a chore for my students. I have been playing the guitar casually and professionally for more than 10 years, and teaching for more than five years.

Way back before I knew what a seventh chord was, this guy was the sage seek for musical knowledge. Drew's understanding of theory and knowledge of instrumental technique helped me pave a smooth foundation with music in my youth prior to college. His enthusiasm and patience make him one of the best teachers I've seen. After years of studying, I have had the privilege of performing in many jazz groups with very talented players, and I would be lying if I didn't say Drew Gumbiner didn't assist and inspire me to peruse my goals early on. He is a talented multi-instrumentalist and a wonderful teacher, I would recommend him to anyone with a desire to study music.

I have a BME from Bradley and have taught piano and French horn for over 30 years. I play in the Peoria Symphony and the Peoria Municipal Band and have accompanied for over 50 shows in the Peoria area. I teach all levels, age 5 through adults and lessons are usually a half hour and are currently $12. I also teach some improvisation (but no jazz). Students come to my home. I am also available to accompany for weddings, solo contest or auditions. I am a great sight reader and can play just about anything you need. I constantly am striving to help people get the most out of our interaction whether it's teaching voice, piano or ESL. I want to be able to make a change. I don't simply go through the motions. What works for one person may not work for another and that's important information.

About

I give beginning private piano and some wind instrument lessons. I use the "Music in Me" and "Alfred" lesson systems, depending on the student. I love to see their expression when it "clicks"! When a person learns how to make music, the sky's the limit!
