My daughters began their first flute lessons with Su Ray. They have learned so much in only a few months. Su Ray has a great teaching style. She has a very calming presence. She encourages all progress, and finds ways of correcting and improving technique with positive words, and rewards. We are very pleased with the quality of the lessons. They begin and end on time, and the work is challenging, yet attainable for the level. We can say with no hesitation that we highly recommend Su Ray!
Marlena is the best! Not only is she very knowledgeable and talented, but she is also very nice. She is great at assessing her student's skills and challenges them appropriately. I am a 27 year old former trombone player who wants to learn piano, and I would recommend her for any age and talent level.
Courtney provides great service. He comes to our house to provide piano lessons to our son. As a result of his teachings, our son loves to play the piano and looks forward to his lessons each week.
I have known Patricia Wilt for more than 12 years. She is a talented, professional, patient, and caring music teacher (mostly private lessons) and certified music therapist. She is dedicated to enhancing her students' love for music, while making learning music fun for students of all ages and abilities. Her students consistently rank in high levels in their school music programs and at contests. Although it was not one of her main instruments (flute, piano, guitar), she helped my son improve on his trumpet skills while sharing her love of music and music theory. I highly recommend her services. You will be happy that you chose her to be your child's teacher.
Polly was my flute teacher all throughout high school and the best one I ever had! She was extremely encouraging and did a great job of catering to my needs as a student. She balanced lesson time between what I needed to work on and what I simply enjoyed playing very well. It's hard for her passion for flute-playing not to rub off on you!
Anne has been teaching flute lessons to my son for 4 years - and she has been amazing! She remains patient as he learns new notes & scales, yet knows when to challenge him by incorporating those new skills to play more complex pieces. One of her characteristics that I most appreciate is her ability to quickly identify and correct poor techniques, before they become bad habits that are more difficult to let go. Anne has provided several performance opportunities as well, which have helped build my son's confidence and improve his stage presence. My son now plays in his school's Advanced Band as the youngest student at 9 yrs old. I credit Anne's hard work, encouragement, and teaching excellence for developing his proficiency to keep up with his older peers.
I have been taking piano lessons for 5 years, voice lessons for 9 months and flute lessons for 6 months at Music Makers...For Life, Inc. As an adult with prior music experience, I had certain ideas on how I wanted my lessons, and Theresa was very willing to accomodate my wishes. She always tried to work within my schedule as well. Theresa was always kind and patient with me and always made me feel good about my music and myself! I'm also impressed with how her school is structured for kids. They earn "music money" if they've practiced their lesson or land on the right square on the board game the teachers use to reinforce their teaching. Then they can spend their "music money" in her "music store" on small toys, or t-shirts, tote bags, etc. This really motivates the kids to want to practice! Older kids might be invited to join one of her rock bands, which perform around the county. Playing in a rock band helps to keep the teens enthusiastically engaged in their music! Music Makers...For Life is truly "The Fun Way to Learn to Play"!
My daughter has studied flute with Joyce Anne Wilder for 4 years (grades 6-10) and Joyce Anne has had a profoundly positive influence over her. Joyce Anne is an accomplished performer and teacher and she regularly demonstrates musical concepts in the lesson as well as giving clear strategies for successful practice. She is also a very kind and caring person who takes time to build a relationship with her students and tailor the lesson to their individual needs. Every single time my daughter leaves her lesson she is challenged and encouraged. I highly recommend Joyce Anne; she is wonderful!
Dr. Cate is WONDERFUL!! Our 9 year-old daughter started with the school's band and was struggling to learn the flute. We started her with Dr. Cate and our daughter has progressed so much in a short period of time. We are very happy and would recommend her to anyone!!
My experience with Ms. Lindsey was absolutely wonderful! I started with her when I was a beginner at the flute and learned from her for 3 years. She helped me grow so much! She has amazing teaching skills and is a great teacher. She helped me improve so much on my tone, fingerings, musicality, clarity of notes etc. She help building my confidence. My teachers at school took notice of that. She is really patient, kind, and dedicated. I reccomand her without any reservation.

When I get a student, I make a point of finding out what their experience is, and what they want to accomplish. I don't have a preconceived idea of what "should" be done or worked on. Although I definitely recommend certain exercises, I make sure that they fit the needs of the student. I really enjoy working with each student, and I set the pace according to what works for each individual. I'm passionate about making music - that to me is the most important thing - sharing and instilling a love of music.
