I would recommend & am going to continue my cleaning service. Review: Cleaners arrived on time & got started right away. Did great job on both bathrooms & master bedroom. Kitchen, dining room, & living room looked good. Top of the microwave wasn't touched, still a good amount of dirt & dust left on top. Would like my baseboards throughout my entire cleaning area hit better on my next cleaning.

Gary worked two full days, installed 3 ceiling fans and a screen door. He also spotted and fixed a roof vent that was showing daylight into the attic. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and did quality work. I would hire him again.

Ronnie was able to start on our vinyl flooring the day after his estimate and had reasonable prices. We were actually going to be out of town, but we entrusted him into our home while we were gone. No issues and it was nice to come home to everything being done! He fixed our entry door as well. Everything was done in a timely manner. After he placed the flooring, we noticed a bump underneath a couple days later. He came the next day and fixed it. Would recommend!

We had a carpeted office switched to hardwood floors. They did a great (and quick) job of installing the new hardwood. We didn't buy a transition so they went and bought one for us, before finishing the job. They even squeezed us in quickly as I wanted the job done asap.

Hired Roche Tile to replace our commercial kitchen and bar floors with a quarry tile floor. Installation was completed on time, and the finished product was well constructed. They communicated well with us every step of the way, went above and beyond on several items with which we needed assistance, and charged a reasonable rate for their services. Highly recommend!

Pleasure to deal with during a house remodel. They went above and beyond for the installation of new flooring. Of the several contractors I dealt with during this project, they were by far the easiest and accommodating of them all.

I had a shower floor that had loose tiles and did not drain correctly and now I have a shower floor that I am proud of. Derrick called me immediately once I posted my job request and came by later the same day to look at the shower. He started work within a couple of days and completed the work within a week. Derrick was super to work with and showed up promptly when he said he would. Very happy with the quality of his work. I would highly recommend Cut Right Tile and Stone.

I would highly recommend Integrity D & R for any project. Our project included painting, installation of hardwood and tile floors. Shelli (owner/designer) was there every step of the way. We experienced a problem with the quality of the hardwood floor. After many inspections the manufacturer was reluctant to accept any responsibility. Shelli continued to work with suppliers and sub-contractors and our defective floor was replaced at no cost to us. Integrity stood behind the work and we have nothing but the highest praise for Shelli and the people who work with her. We've had nothing but compliments on the beauty and elegance of our home since our project was finished.

Matt removed some wood and linoleum flooring from our home. He then tiled both our powder bathroom and laundry room. Matt is very trustworthy and helpful. We let him work in our home while we went to work. He even met us at Menards to help us select the tile and materials. He is very knowledgeable and you won’t be disappointed!

1. Repainted exterior of three story, 3 color Victorian house, did all associated carpentry and scraping, re-floored (including hand sand and stain) exterior porch, repaired and replaced gutters, re-painted interior of house. 2. Fixed burst pipes, replaced all powdered mortar in basement, insulated basement. 3. Built and installed permanent attic stairs. 4. Landscaping including entire yard till and re-seed, multiple plantings, and fence repair. Absolutely perfect! I have renovated three antique homes before this one and have never had a contractor like Eleazar and the Emarias Group before. They were very reasonably priced, stayed on budget, always arrived when expected, did the best quality work I have ever had, always cleaned up at the end of the day, and even brought me lunch on occasion! I found I could trust Eleazar and his group completely, so much so that they often worked inside the house when I was out of state. I initially made contact with Eleazar when another home in my area was being renovated. I was able to observe daily the differences between the Emarias crew and the rest of the contractors on site. I know that this home owner eventually booted everyone else and now uses Emarias exclusively. At my recommendation, four of my neighbors had their homes painted by Emarias. One neighbor also had a bathroom remodel done. All are Eleazar and Emarias Group devotees now!

I had Shawn install my wide planked handscraped hickory hardwood floors in my kitchen, dining, and hallway. He and his crew did a great job! He does quality work at an affordable price. I have recommended him to my friends, co-workers, and on the Next-door app. I love my wood floors!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does it take to install a hardwood floor?

Hardwood floor installation can take anywhere from a few days to more than two weeks, depending on demolition, wood type, the condition of your subfloor, total square footage of the project, and installation method. Demolition is necessary if you have existing flooring you want to replace with hardwood floors. New-construction homes do not require this step, as the subfloor is primed and ready for floor installation. During demolition, the flooring crew may find that your subfloor has damaged wood, uneven surfaces or other problems that must be addressed before the new wood can be laid down. Crews may charge on an hourly rate for subfloor repair, and the work can take a few hours to several days, depending on what’s hiding underneath your floor. The wood for your new floor generally arrives a few days before any work begins. This allows the wood to acclimate to the relative humidity in your house, which prevents it from shrinking or expanding after installation and causing gaps or buckling. The actual wood installation may take several days or more, depending on the size of your home and what type of custom cutting and designs are desired. If your flooring is not prefinished, the unfinished wood must then be sanded and stained in the home to treat and protect your new investment. Typically, stain takes a full day to dry, and multiple coats are applied. Baseboards and trim must also be installed. With all these variables at play, you can see why it’s important for a wood installation pro to provide an estimate only after seeing your home.

How much does it cost to install hardwood floors?

The cost of hardwood floors will depend primarily on the total square footage of flooring, the type of wood you select, the cost of labor in your region, and any preparation or repair work that needs to take place before installation. Selecting exotic woods, such as teak, will result in a higher cost for the project than a more affordable wood such as oak. The national average cost of hardwood floor installation is $5,750. Here are some examples of different woods and their average costs; actual costs will vary depending on the factors listed above.

  • Basic wood floor installation: $3 per square foot from a wood floor installation company.
    • The product cost for hand-scraped ¾-inch oak planks: $7 per square foot.
  • 620 square feet of maple floor:
    • Residential installation, total project cost: ~ $2,400 with five days of labor.
    • ¾-inch dark stained maple installed on top of new concrete in three rooms, a hallways, and a staircase.
      • Cost for total project: ~$3.87 per square foot.

How much does it cost to install flooring?

On average, Thumbtack customers nationwide pay $5,500 for floor installation. The cost can range much lower or higher depending on the type of flooring you select (laminate is far less expensive than exotic hardwood), the square footage of the project, and other important variables like demolition and repair work needed. Here are some examples of average floor installation cost:

  • Basic floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
    • This can range up to $7 or $8 per square foot when tear-out and prep work is required.
  • Laminate floor and installation cost: $3-$8 per square foot.
    • Laminate is one of the most affordable materials and can start as low as $1.50 per square foot.
  • Wood floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
    • $7 and up for hand-scraped oak planks and other specialized work.
  • Luxury vinyl tile installation: $3.50+ per square foot (not including tiles).
    • Cost includes prep work, underlayment, leveling and grouting.
  • Examples of additional floor installation costs:
    • Pouring concrete to level the under-flooring: $1,000-$1,500 for materials and labor.
    • Removing carpet: 35 cents or more per square foot.
    • Removing difficult ceramic or porcelain tile: about $2.25 per square foot.
      • Includes removal of the dura rock.
  • Floor repair: $75 minimum.

How much are oak hardwood floors?

Installing oak hardwood floors can add value and beauty to your home. The cost of hardwood floors is typically based on the overall square footage of your new floor, the type of oak you select, any repair work your subfloor requires prior to installation, and any demolition costs to remove your old flooring. Other factors that will affect your total cost can include the regional cost of labor and business overhead of your flooring company.

A flooring installation company may charge $3 per square foot for standard installation. For hand-scraped (higher-end) ¾-inch oak planks, the cost is approximately $7 per square foot, for a total cost per square foot of about $10 as long as no repair work is required. Standard oak planks are available from big-box stores for as low as $3 per square foot, so the quality of oak you want will affect your total project cost.
