I sought Mr. Novi out after taking a long hiatus from piano. I have had many piano teachers but Mr. Novi is definitely one of the most fun and enthusiastic teachers I've had. I have had many years of classical piano instruction but am completely new to jazz. Mr. Novi will give me suggestions on new pieces to learn, but ultimately leaves choosing what I learn up to me, no matter what style I want to learn (classical, jazz, rock n' roll, etc). Because of this I never see practicing as a chore since I am only playing the pieces that I truly enjoy. Mr. Novi is a fantastic musician himself, it's very inspiring to listen to him play! I would absolutely recommend Mr. Novi for anyone interested in studying piano.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
Bob does a great job choosing music that the kids are interested in learning in both Piano and Guitar. They learn fun songs along with the necessary scales which keeps them better focused.
I have been taking lessons from Dan for more than two and a half years and it something I look forward to every week. Aside from being a great teacher, he is fun, understanding and very talented. He takes the time to help you understand the structure of what you are learning without over burdening you with theory. He is also really interested in making sure you are enjoying playing (that is the point) and getting out of it exactly what you want. Any time I have a request (no matter how absurd) of a song to learn, Dan takes the time to find a good arrangement at my level and teaches it to me. It is really nice having that flexibility and personal investment in my lessons. In just two and a half years, I went from playing no to guitar to be comfortable jamming with my friends while also developing my classical guitar playing skills. His musical interests are vast; from beautiful classical pieces to classic rock solos to movie soundtracks (he loves Storybook Love from the Princess Bride). This blend of genres and talents truly sets Dan a part and I would encourage anyone looking to finally learn the guitar to sign up for lessons with Dan.
Music lessons (Bass and Guitar). Matt is patient and makes learning an instrument as an adult fun. He caters to your tastes and goals, the lessons never feel like a chore, it is a nice break in the routine every week. Highly recommended !!
Bob is a natural as a teacher who makes learning the guitar and bass a fun, challenging and exciting experience. I've been taking lessons with him for nearly 3 years now and have made a huge amount of progress in my playing and my knowledge of music theory. He's quite simply the best music teacher I've ever had (and I've had quite a few!) and I can't recommend him highly enough. He's a thoroughly lovely guy who also happens to be a master guitar player and musician.
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
I have taken about 10 years of guitar lessons with Matt. He was recommended to me by Guitar Center. When I started out, I knew nothing about playing the guitar, and over those 10 years I learned more about the guitar than I could have ever imagined. Matt is patient, and knows anything you could ever want to know about playing the guitar. I wasn't always the easiest student, but Matt was always a complete professional. I will always be thankful for my ability to play the guitar, and Matt is the only reason I know as much as I do. I would recommend him to people just starting out, and people looking to improve their skill.
I took guitar lessons with Shane for about 3 or so years and it was such a great experience. After trying many other places that gave lessons, the experience that I had with Shane really made it easy, fun, and enjoyable. I learned A TON while still getting to pick the style of music I like. I was able to explore different types of music and different artists that Shane introduced to me, some of which are among my favorites today. Choosing Shane at TriTone music was a great decision that made for a fantastic learning experience for me.
I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.
I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
I took guitar lessons from Fran. He is a very soulful and talented person. As a teacher, he is knowledgeable and helped me accelerate in my journey to learn guitar. You can't go wrong with Fran. He is one of the best!
My daughter took lessons with Manny to prepare for a high school audition. I was very surprised by how serious she took the lessons. His expectations came across as very clear and motivational. My daughter loved her violin lessons and is now playing for her high school’s orchestra!

I have played concerts all over the state of Illinois, and I have taught many students throughout the years. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. I am very passionate at what I do, and I will guide you through the proper steps in becoming a great guitar player. Playing music takes a lot of time and patience as well as a lot of practice playing by yourself and in front of people. I am very relaxed and motivated to help my students learn, and I will guide you through everything. I would prefer that students bring their own guitars, so that you would be more comfortable playing their own instrument. If you can't or do not have one, I have guitars here that you may use but during our sessions only. Check out my video. With a lot of practice and a lot of studying, I can show you how to play like a pro and have fun! Lesson Details In my curriculum, students will start off by learning the basics of the guitar, knowing the parts and accessories and so forth. Then, we will move on to tuning and perfect pitch. As we move on, students will learn how to build and maintain a rhythm. Learning how to play chords is essential, and we will be going through chord progressions and how to recognize and memorize the various chords. Furthermore, I will be showing students how to read tabs and write music. I will be showing students the different types of scales there as well as the keys that they are in for those who want to become soloists. I will also be teaching different techniques that are incorporated with tapping on the fretboard as well as various other techniques. All of these lessons will be taught in our private sessions, and each student will receive homework assignments, so that he/she can go home and practice what he/she has learned. I will be having tests later on, in which I would ask you to play one of your favorite songs. With enough time spent practicing, you can become a master of your instrument.
