Greg Binder is a phenomenal DJ. He has so much energy, plays all of the right music for a wedding crowd, and he will keep the entire dance floor full for you the entire night. If you are worried that something may not go right, or there might be a last minute glitch that no one even thought about in the middle of our reception, Greg will take care of it. He made our entire evening flow with so much energy and fun. If we did miss something throughout the night, no one would have even known. Greg spent a lot of time with me and my wife on prepping, and it did not even take long because of the timeline of events that he provides for you. He was a wonderful DJ, and he even gets out there and dances with your crowd! He made our guests laugh and dance the entire night without any issues. I would highly recommend Greg for weddings, and even other events. I never imagined our wedding to be as fun as it truly was that night. Thank you GREG! -Ashli and Alexandria Saba

Sometimes in life you get exactly what you were looking for when you didn't even know what you wanted. That describes Jeff and his photography expertise. The emails I received in response to my request were engaging and full of life from someone who obviously enjoyed his chosen vocation. He made suggestions but let me be myself (which came through in the awesome photos). He was so creative and, when added to his attention to the smallest details, made for an unforgettable moment captured in time for my fiancé. Consummate professional but with a fun personality which will provide you with beautiful memories of your special occasion. The pre-wedding shots were so incredible, I can only envision how treasured my wedding photos will be. All this and delivered way ahead of time for proofs. Have already recommended him to others!

Derik videoed our wedding and he was truly outstanding! He was super professional, polite and easy going. We got married in Indiana but we live in Florida so planning for us was a bit tough - but he was very accessible. He spoke with us many times before the big day through text and phone call and made us feel confident he could do a great job -- and he surpassed our expectations. He worked well with the photographer and all of the wedding party/guests. He was never in the way. Derik's pricing is extremely reasonable and he did an amazing job on our highlight video. We would use him over and over again if we could and we highly recommend him!

Kara was my lady knight in shining armor. The photographer for my wedding backed out two weeks prior to the big day, and I was totally panicked. I was put in touch with Kara by a mutual friend. She made it clear that, though she hadn't done a wedding before, she was willing to do the research and put in the time to make it happen for me at an incredibly reasonable price. Kara was so sweet from the beginning and so much fun to work with. I'm in love with my photos and will definitely be going back to her in the future.

One of the best photographers I know! Never disappointed with his work. Brian has taken pictures of many of my friend's special moments (weddings, senior pictures, etc) and every shot really does capture the moment with all it's glory. His pictures are like a portal back to that day, so you can remember it for the rest of your life. If you are looking for a professional, personable, reliable and decent priced photographer, look no further. I would highly recommend Brian Bonner to anyone looking for a photographer.

When my husband and I were looking for a photographer for our wedding, it was definitely the longest process in the wedding planning only after finding our venue. We got married in March which does not really allow for the pretty picture ready backgrounds that most photographers are able to capitalize on. Therefore, our number one concern was finding someone who had a variety of indoor shots in their portfolio. We were both impressed with Craig’s photos from previous weddings and considering it was a romantically lit (dim) ballroom. We quickly knew that he was the one to go with. We worked with Craig discussing which photos we wanted for sure and then gave him free reign with the rest. We received our photos about 1 month later and are in love with them. Craig and his assistant Casey were great to work with. I had even asked him to Photoshop a couple of pictures for me and he did it and had it to me the next day. If you’re looking for a professional wedding photographer and wanting to stay within your budget, Craig is your guy!

My Husband and I used Blessed Events Photography for both our engagement and wedding photos. We were beyond impressed with the way Billie was able to capture these moments for us. We have had numerous compliments on both our wedding and engagement photos! We have actually had a very difficult time just choosing a few photos to frame for the walls! Besides the amazing quality of our photos we were also impressed with how reasonable the service was! We are more than happy with our engagement and wedding photos and would highly recommend anyone to use Blessed Events Photography.

Sally took our engagement and wedding photos. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about her. We have the beautiful photos she took displayed throughout our home as do many of our relatives. We returned to Sally for a quick Easter shoot with our son when he was about 6 months. Whether it’s a mini session or an all day wedding shoot, Sally offers nothing but the best quality. I can’t wait to schedule a family shoot with her in the future. Her work is just amazing!

When you hire Stevi as your photographer, you're hiring a photographer and MORE! Stevi's flexibility and willingness to make our special day extra special was apparent from the start. Our two-day wedding and reception plans required a lot of schedule juggling AND travel but Stevi was there every step of the way. In fact, when a button popped on my dress, Stevi was there to help mend it. When the skies got dark and the stress of the weather quickly showed on my face, Stevi assured me the weather would clear (and it did!). I loved her ability to whip people into shape and construct order out of chaos. She is professional but personal. Her rates are reasonable and she is upfront about all costs and requirements prior to contract signing. But most importantly: her passion for her work shines in her product. We couldn't be happier with out pictures (and neither could our families).

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
