Makimanta landscaping was the lowest of the two bids I got for my job, which was to re-sod my front lawn. I needed it done quickly and they were able to rearrange their schedule and started right away. They did a thorough and professional job. My new lawn looks beautiful and all my neighbors say they are jealous. I would definitely highly recommend Makimanta Landscaping services for your landscaping needs.

We hired Homeland Lawn Care and Home Services (Kris Baker, owner) for a winter cleanup up of our lawn. Kris responded promplty and was very courteous and professional. The project included trimming all bushes and trees, cleaning and landscaping of all garden beds, applying fresh mulch and removal of all debris. They did a beautiful job and now our garden beds are ready for spring planting. Unfortunately we can't post any photos right now because it snowed the day after the work was completed. I highly recommend Homeland Lawn Care and Home Services.

Great job, done quickly and at a reasonable price. Not knowing anything about gardening, I asked P&P to select and plant everything in my little yard. It all looks great. Super happy with the work.

I hired GRG Landscaping to remodel a 40 year old retaining wall in my front yard - the wall is 50 feet long and 4 feet high at its tallest point - this was no small project! Ramiro and his team did a fantastic job! I was able to discuss my ideas on the new wall and materials with Ramiro - despite myself being a woman he did not take advantage of that and gave me technically sound advice and his pricing was very reasonable. His team was very self sufficient, hard working, and very respectful. The new wall came out beautiful! Since then I have hired GRG Landscaping for more work: tree/shrub removal, concrete walkway leveling, and fixing a basement retaining wall - I cannot wait for them to start! I highly recommend them for all landscaping work!

Mr. Sanchez was responsive and very timely in responding for my request for a quote for service. He payed us a visit and provided an outstanding proposal for the work we needed performed. He demonstrated full command over the subject of gardening (and agronomy at large!). He is very thorough and experienced in the field. He was very professional and efficient in performing the job required (removing existing lawn, resurfacing and leveling the terrain, and seeding). In summary, I am a very happy and satisfied customer and woul recommend SAGAR's errvices to anyone, in full confidence that you will be pleased as well. Thank you so much, Aniceto! (P.S.: Mr. Sanchez offered the most competitive cost for the job.)

Overall, I like the work that was done to my yard. I just wanted a simple, clean, and low-maintenance garden as well as some lawn care services. David, the owner, offered great ideas and his prices were very reasonable. His staff showed up on time and worked efficiently and finished the job within a day. I'm very satisfied with the results.

Ryan did a great job for me. He is incredibly knowledgeable & passionate about organic, sustainable gardening. It's rare to find someone who lives what they value but Ryan does! He is also generous with his knowledge...my neighbors on both sides of my house were asking him advice and he didn't hesitate to give them his insight I have an easy to manage garden that is going to feed myself, many friends and neighbors in the backyard and he even helped me with the flowers at the front of the house. He also knows a lot about trees! Hire this guy!

Damion immediately responded after we spoke; he found the problem and came back the next day with the needed parts. He then adjusted and /or replaced the sprinkler heads. After thoroughly checking all seven (7) zones, he then completed the job by setting the timers. A very professional job; I will use Damion's company again. *****

David is very professional. The fact that loves what he does makes him most effective and dependable. Because of these qualities, he also did not have to compete for my landscaping job. Now he does both, gardening and landscaping. He understands customer service.

I have worked with Mitch and M & L Landscaping for a few years now. I like that he will do smaller landscape projects as I have been working on my yard bit by bit. He is willing to collaborate with me on the design and is able to supply the muscle for what I am unable to do myself. He will also do basic maintenance projects at a very reasonable price. His crew is great and there is often a little surprise plant for me to find at the end of a project. Mitch has been the perfect partner for me as an avid gardener who is no longer able at my age to do all the labor. His integrity is stellar and his prices are very reasonable.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
