My home needed the entire first floor ceiling replaced, every room and hall painted, railing and banisters painted, numerous drywall repairs, and recessed lighting installed. Nilto and his crew did exceptional work on every issue and he made sure the finished job met my expectations. He even offered to come by and put the two remaining light fixtures in place for me once I purchased them as a gesture of his appreciation for allowing him to work on such a big project in my home. I would rehire Nilto with no hesitation. No issues whatsoever. Showed up early every morning, even on weekends, and left late. Trustworthy as well.
We highly recommend Robert (RJA Floors) if you have the floor and bathroom renovation projects. Robert is very knowledgeable about the design, materials, planning, and installation of the floor and bathroom work. We particularly appreciate the fact that he discussed and provided us different options of the types of the floor materials we could install in the vanity and closet areas and everything for our master bath. After providing us all possible options, he let us make decisions. It's very helpful for people who might not have a very clear idea of what should be done in what way. He's also very flexible. When we would like to change whatever we had already planned, if the work was not completed yet, Robert was willing to accommodate our needs. We are very pleased with the completed projects - both the floor and the bathroom work is neat and exceeds our expectations. His work is excellent! The quote he provided was reasonable. We will hire him for our future floor and bathroom projects. **Be prepare to add some extra time to the project depending on the scope.
I turned to Nas Construction as a full service provider company. As a mother of 2 whom works a full time job, I find it very helpful to have someone take care of the process. Nas Construction took responsibility of everything, leading to the renovation of my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. They contacted the management company and ordered the materials. This allowed me to focus on other aspects of my life and not to worry about the construction. During the countertop installation, we had a bit of a glitch. The countertop cracked. I was panicking since I needed to cook and used my kitchen. Jhonathan totally took on the responsibility and apologized. I had a beautiful countertop installed in my kitchen in less than a week with the help of there materials dept. I was very pleased with the final results and the way I was treated. I recommend Nas Construction to those of us who need to renovate their kitchen or bath and cant afford to dedicate so much time to the process that leads to the construction and completion.
Christian Wells and his team are reliable, communicative, experienced, trustworthy and do great work. I had a large complete deck replacement by them and they customized so many parts of the project, including a custom lattice and cantilever solution. His team is so good that I recommended them to my condo board to perform roof replacement work for my townhouse condo association here in Dupont Circle, as well as recommending him as contractor for a new penthouse rooftop deck for another neighbor. Christian was awarded both contracts because everyone in my community saw how dedicated his team is and how good the work product is. I intend to use 5thGen Group for interior work, as well (we had a former lead contractor who was originally hired to transform both the interior and the deck, but proved unreliable and bailed on the deck job, so I used Thumbtack to find Christian/5thGen Group and I am so happy that I did!).
William O. (lead tech) was prompt and did excellent work. I appreciate how quickly he worked. He finished an hour sooner than anticipated. My ceiling looks great, and my new ceiling track lighting picture looks great.) There was an issue with the total price I paid, but Ted rectified it w/in minutes. I would hire again.
Viva Contractor replaced our old warped basement drop-ceiling with a new drop-ceiling, and replaced the old heavy fluorescent light fixtures with new lightweight LED lighting. The manager spent a great deal of time with us in his free quote visit, assessing everything in detail and explaining various alternatives as well as the county's permitting process. His quote was received promptly and was well below other contractors that visited and quoted us. He even checked with the county inspector to make sure that the brand-new model of lights he was recommending to us had been designated as up to code. He also checked in with me periodically during our contractor selection process, without applying any pressure. The job was performed by a team of two ceiling specialists, two electricians, and a foreman. This in-house team (nothing was farmed out) worked well together. Our quote estimated 5-7 working days, and the job was completed in six. The basement was full of shelves etc. that had nowhere to go, so the team had to work around a great deal of stuff without damaging anything. The very personable head electrician frequently consulted with me to present alternatives as work proceeded, with no attempt to up-sell me, and frequently said "Okay, we'll do it that way, and if you decide you don't like it we'll be happy to change it". The foreman did a couple of extra things for us that I didn't even ask for. The manager came out for a look while the job was in progress, and did a walkthrough with me at the end and performed some final touch-ups himself. We are very happy with the end result. Two small opportunities for improvement: 1) the plastic sheets covering the shelving occasionally slipped off and the ceiling workers kept working, meaning the shelves and contents got dirty in a couple of instances (but most stayed clean); and 2) the team members arrived and departed at unpredictable times, and there were times that we didn't know who was coming when, whether things were proceeding to plan, and what was to be done next. An end-of-day recap and look-ahead each day would have been helpful. But all got done in six consecutive weekdays; the price was an excellent value; the work passed county inspection with flying colors (the inspector praised the electricians' work); my possessions downstairs are intact; and the ceiling and lighting look great. And the extra touches are very much appreciated. We will use Viva Contractor again.
I had an office in my basement that I decided to rip out the carpet in and install wood-like porcelain tiles. Leo and his assistant worked diligently for two days to transform my room. They installed the tiles in a herringbone design and they a phenomenal job with it. He then removed my 3 inch baseboards and installed & painted 6 inch baseboards. And painted the walls. I am beyond happy with the results and will DEFINITELY use LD Home Improvement on my next project.
Eduardo removed the "textured" ceiling from approximately 1,200 square ft, painted 3 rooms, added recessed lighting etc. and did an OUTSTANDING job! He asked for 3 weeks to complete the job but completed it in 2 weeks! He put in long, hard hours, which showed in the final product. He was clean, careful, with great attention to detail. Furthermore, he was always on time, and available to talk at ANY hour and offered great advice on techniques, outcomes, paint colors etc.! Lastly, his quote was cheaper than others! I can't wait for the next home improvement project for him to complete for us.
Patrick arrived on time and ready to work. I had him prep and paint the kitchen and dining room. The finished product looks great, plus he worked neatly and left the area cleaner than he found it. He also pointed out some windows that I hadn't noticed needed caulking and took care of that as well. I will be using him again and would highly recommend him to others.
Really enjoyed working with Robert. He was extremely responsive from the moment I submitted my requirements online through completion of the project. This was a rather unique installation (custom wine cellar door) due to the fact that I had not originally purchased all the right materials from the manufacturer. Robert went above and beyond (calling vendors, visiting stores and skowering the internet) to track down the right materials to make this project successful and was very accommodating to my schedule when coordinating to do work at the house. He is detail oriented and has a work ethic that is hard to come by now a days. I highly recommend him and will most definitely use him again in the future.
Stavo and his crew to the rescue (again). Trying to get my townhouse ready to sell and Stavo and his team did a great job the first time that I used that I decided to use them again for painting both interior and exterior and other odds and ends around the house. Without hesitation, Stavo and his team jumped right in to assist me. Thank you so much Stavo!!!
Kitchen back splash: I was hesitant to hire someone from just reading online reviews and now I am glad that I picked Erick to work on this project. Erick and I agreed to pricing and timing. He gave very reasonable pricing, provided guidance for all material that was needed to be purchased, and showed full commitment during the project. he was very professional and punctual. He took ample time to ensure everything was completed with excellent quality and to our 100% satisfaction. Erick used his brother's help during this project and made my kitchen look very stylish. I am attaching some pictures that I took during the project. I will add more pics for finished work product.
Beto and his team did a bathroom remodel for me. They were quick, responsive and dependable. Out of everyone I had met, they were the best price. They were reliable in terms of the estimated project timeline as well. The contractors were courteous and respected my space. Well done. The remodel included: removing/demolishing the existing vanity, mirror, light fixture, sink, toilet, and tiles. Installing/mounting new vanity, light fixture, vessel sink, toilet, and tiles. However, there were a two specific things that I would like to mention that can be improved. (1) Attention to detail: With the remodel included adding light fixtures above the bathroom vanity. When I came in to check how the work was going, the contractors did not measure the area to center the lighting above the sink. I don't think a contractor should require that much hand holding - centering fixtures is common sense. It was neither aligned to the right, left, or center. I did not comprehend what logic was used to mount it. This was part of the finishing touches of the project, so I suspect they wanted to wrap up and leave. However, I will say that anything I pointed out was fixed. If I mentioned anything to Beto, he would make sure the problem was addressed. (2) Accountability: After the work was completed, I had some issues with the toilet leaking at the base that the team installed. I contacted Beto - he did not respond. I contacted him again and he told me he would schedule a visit to check out the issue. I never heard back from him. So while he's responsive during the project, if there are any issues with their work after the fact, don't count on them to return. Overall, I would reconsider hiring Alcon Quality because of their prices and overall reliability. But I do recommend to Beto that he not forget his customers after the job is complete and be accountable for the work after his team packs up.
I hired Colwill Construction & Design, LLC to do handyman work in my home. I had lots of jobs from repairing front and back doors, drywall work, painting and repairing railings and power washing front and back concrete areas. There were other things needed and included in these visits. They spent more than adequate time in my home to make sure the jobs were done well. The work was done to the utmost of my satisfaction and was surprisingly quite affordable and guaranteed. I was able to get a written estimate of what the labor and material costs would be, allowing me to know, in advance, if I could afford it. I appreciate that there were no hidden costs, expert work, and friendly staff. I felt comfortable with the staff and was very happy with the work! I will definitely use this company again and thank Jeff Colwall and staff for allowing me to get a lot of work done at an affordable price.
I hired Antonio (Tony) Sanchez from Renaissance Restoration to complete a kitchen renovation this past fall (sorry I did not get around to completing this review sooner!). I did all the demolition, but the job included lights and electrical, plumbing repair, cabinet and counter top install, appliance install, and painting. Tony gave a very reasonable estimate and personally worked on my project with his assistant from start to finish as opposed to having one of his employees complete the job. As he began the job, he soon realized that virtually nothing from the original construction was square (townhouse was built in 1987). However, that did not phase him as he had the skills to adjust making those imperfections unnoticeable in the end. In addition, Tony has skills in most of the trades which meant that he did not have to sub different parts of the job out; he did all the electrical, plumbing and carpentry himself. The best part of my experience working with Tony was that he discussed and explained different options or ways of completing a task to ensure there were no surprises, and I was impressed with his willingness to even teach me a little along the way. He was flexible in allowing me to have a friend install the tile floor and was understanding of my need to stick to a rather tight budget. There are only two comments I could make for overall improvement: cleanliness and timeliness. On a couple of occasions, I had to discard empty food containers and drinks that had been left behind. I attributed this to oversight and could be easily improved by making an effort to clean up the work site after each day of work. Considering it was not a space I was using though, it was not that big of a deal. As for timeliness, the project took longer than expected to complete. However, I know that my involvement did have some impact on the schedule and the fact he was doing the work himself while still managing other jobs is a factor. I would not hesitate to bring Tony in for another project in the future. I am completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone.
Designed my security system for my house, couldn’t be happier! I can see every angle surrounding my house and it was done for a great price. Highly recommended!
I first hired Marvin to paint and frame 44 newly installed wooden windows in my historic row home. Because I was so impressed with his professionalism and superb quality of work, I contracted him for additional services including porcelain tile installation, surfacing and reframing a roof deck, and completing the finishes of a previous contractor. If you want to hire a competent company that takes price in their work and delivers high quality services, Baiza Construction Inc. should be your choice.
We can’t say enough good things about Dead Rock Contractor Services – and believe us when we say this recommendation is not some frivolous platitude. In late December 2015, a check valve on our sump pump’s discharge line broke which resulted in a fair amount of water damage to our basement. While exercising the requisite due diligence to find a knowledgeable and qualified contractor, we came across Chris Livingston’s company through the recommendation of a competitor who wasn’t licensed to complete the scope of work. To be sure, Dead Rock was neither the least nor most expensive bid proposal, but we chose this company more than anything else, because of the quality of work, strength of references, and years of experience and technical expertise. Dead Rock possesses the requisite licenses, insurances, etc., consistently showed up for work on time, the employees were always courteous, respectful, and cleaned up at the end of the day. The company ripped out and replaced walls, insulation, interior and exterior doors, replaced electrical fixtures, completely gutted and restored a full bath, painted the whole thing, installed tile flooring throughout – and even built a new closet with remnant material. Concurrent with the basement remodel, a snow storm brought drown our shed. Again with a competitive bid, we chose Dead Rock Contractor Services who removed the now-destroyed shed, graded and installed a new pad, restored electrical power, and oversaw installation of the new shed. We were so pleased with the quality of work, we went with Dead Rock this past summer as we elected to renovate our kitchen and baths which included installing hardwood flooring, granite countertops, electrical and light fixtures, painting throughout, completely renovated the master bath including installing tile flooring, replacing the vanity, etc., and renovating 2 additional bathrooms. It was a bad year for our insurance company as this past fall, a tree fell onto our roof and one of our decks. There was no question in our mind that we would use Chris and his company to complete the repair work which included replacing the roof, repairing an outside deck, a heat pump, and steps. Into all of this, were myriad “neat ideas” not included in the various proposals that the company was able to accomplish. As folks with extensive experience using this contractor, electing Dead Rock Contractor Services was a truly outstanding choice! Again, we simply can’t say enough good things – and can’t make a strong enough favorable recommendation about Chris Livingston and Dead Rock Contractor Services.
I hired Emington and his team to remove the popcorn texture from the ceiling and add LED lighting to brighten up my condo. They did an excellent job in a well priced, timely manner. The bonus was just how friendly and easy it was to work with Emington. He really listened to my ideas and provided great input to help make them come true without breaking the bank. My condo looks soooooo good now just from the ceiling upgrade. I am so happy with the outcome and cannot wait to start more projects. I would definitely recommend Emington and his team!
Gary replied promptly to my request. He and his team were thorough, conscientious, and flexible in working with me as we figured out the landscaping design. The job was done well ahead of time and looked fantastic. I will certainly give Gary a call for the flower beds in the back yard. Outstanding work!
S and S was referred to me by a neighbor who was having some work done in her home. I was looking to put my house on the market soon. They are very down to earth and have a real understanding of budgets of all types.
